Looks about guiltily

I cast the first incant... All I wanted to do was give the Power of Words Beta Test some legs, so it could move along to the ethereal internetz and then we could play with them.

Such is the power of the Spell of Tertiary Locomotion...

sadness :o(

No, no to find the true answer you have to ask a witchdoctor. And this is what he said: Ooh ee ooh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang. I think that's pretty clear

Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south! Way of Destruction #31: Red Flame Cannon!

Pathos wrote:

Anáil nathrach, ortha bhas betha, do cheol déanta!!!

Thank you, I was going to cry if no one had recalled that one.

One of my all time favorite incantations... hehehe

Bleach, if memory serves?

That's right. Although I have to say my favorite incantation from the series is Captain Ukitake's shikai:

"All Waves, Rise now and Become my Shield, Lightning, Strike now and Become my Blade!"

ahem.. to add to the spells from random shows

"Thou who art darker than even darkness,
Thou who art deeper than even the night!
Thou, the Sea of Chaos, who drifts upon it,
Golden Lord of Darkness!
Hereby I call to thee,
Hereby I swear before thee!
Those who would stand against us,
All those who are fools,
By the power you and I possess,
Grant destruction equally upon them all!
GIGA SLAVE!"

Vaguely surprised this one hasn't showed up as yet,

Darkness beyond twilight
Crimson beyond blood that flows
Buried in the flow of time
In thy great name, I pledge myself to darkness
Let all the fools who stand in our way be destroyed
by the power you and I possess...
DRAGON SLAVE!

It was tempting to go with the spell starting "Darkness beyond blackest pitch." but that could have had unforeseen circumstances.

Edit, and I appear to have been beaten to the punch there...

GOd, that reminds me of another kids show from the 70's...

"Oh zephyr winds that blow on high... Lift me now so I can fly."

Merlin's charm of making is my favorite, although there was a novel I read as a kid, that had a curse that went;

"In his guts and in his bloodstream,
find a canker and a worm.

In his lungs and in his vitals,
Grows a tumor, large and firm.

In his heart and in his mind,
soften mush-like the decay,

in his body gathers corruption,
When I command, he’ll die in pain."

Yikes. The spellcaster didn't much like that guy...

"From water to fire, from earth to air.
Smite those who whisper, smite those who dare.
And those who offend and those who disgrace,
Let the heavens above blow up in their face."

(Very obscure incant here)

"Boobies large, boobies great,
Let them grow, accentuate,
As large as life, as full as day,
Let them grow exponentially!"

(Yet another one from same source)

This has to be the most off-track thread I've seen all year.

LOL... from the OP perhaps... but it seems to be staying solidly along the lines of incantations. :oP

LOL.. no. "Neurotically Yours" comic vids with Foamy the Squirrel and Germain (definitely not safe for kids... O,o? ).

The incant to counter the above spell. :oP
"Boobies large! Boobies huge!
Those that jiggle, and those that move,
to normal size, to normal shape!
Be them normal, Before backs break...."

Perhaps it's both, one for each "pee"?

I'm not dancing, but I can't wait for Words of Power...

Dort wo gar nichts wachsen sollte
Und nur Stein vom Berge rollte
Hab drei Blumen ich gepflanzt
Und mit Wünschen nachts umtanzt

Hab bei Vollmond sie gegossen
Dreimal in die Luft geschossen
Sie mit meinem Blut genährt
Dass die Liebe ewig währt!

After listening to a podcast in which Words of power was discussed... I am most interested.

Finally a non-vancian system that doesn't revolve around long division based gameplay...

Although if I see someone use Harry Potter spells in game...I'm going to leap across the table and make their legs bend the wrong way.

One can infer how the system will work... the catch is how to make it balanced and entertaining without adding a hefty weight of rules to the DM's back...

I knew that was familiar I just couldn't think of the name of the movie. Now I just need to find it again and watch it.

Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die,

One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

Hate to be the one to break it to you, but the Shadows are on Z'ha'dum, not this "Mordor" place.

But let me ask you a question... What do you want?

I was also fond of the Verse tributes to Saberhagen's Swords, and the Staff activation chants from Visionaries.

Not anymore... they left with the rest of the First Ones.

It's not sorcerous, but how about;

Old Lavas Laerk had a face like a dirk,
and of swordsmen, twenty-and-three.

On his greased, black, ship, through the waves did slip.
Twas, the sleekest craft at sea.

But it helped him naught, when he was caught,
by magic, the Mouser, and me.

And now he feeds fishes, the daintiest dishes,
but the daintiest dish was he...

Yet, these hands will never hold anything.
So as I pray..."
