One thing that has me curious about the Gauntlet... There is an entry for "Bulk".
Is this related to a new approach towards encumbrance?
Please discontinue my AP Subscription after the last instalment of Strange Aeons ships out please.
One of the things I keep trying to wrap my head around is just how much do they know?
Likewise, if the player has a backstory written up... How will that be reconciled with this forgotten life as a thug for Lowls? Should be interesting...
Quote: The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with concealment. Ummm... just what would be the "vital spot" on a swarm of hundreds or even thousands of creatures, making up a swarm?
That was my take away too... but it seems ambiguous enough that someone could rule otherwise.
So I was just curious.
PRD wrote: Retribution (Su): A witch can place a retribution hex on a creature within 60 feet, causing terrible wounds to open across the target's flesh whenever it deals damage to another creature in melee. Immediately after the hexed creature deals damage in melee, it takes half that damage (round down). This damage bypasses any resistances, immunities, or damage reduction the creature possesses. This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to the witch's Intelligence modifier. A Will save negates this effect. Question, as the text of the power alludes to the attacks are physical, would this power have an effect against a Shadow's strength damaging ability?
Is it possible to print the calendar out on a monthly basis... i.e. one month to a page?
Granted, Outsiders are subject to sleep effects, that's a given.
But, what has me curious is:
Can outsiders wake themselves up when put to sleep?
Per their traits;
Quote: Outsiders breathe, but do not need to eat or sleep (although they can do so if they wish). Native outsiders breathe, eat, and sleep. Could an outsider, who does not wish to be asleep, take a standard action to wake itself back up?
Apologies if this has been asked before...
D'oh...
I just started a thread along the same lines for a Advanced Gamemastery Guide book...
For some reason, my phone is only showing 5 threads in this section... sorry for stepping on toes... :o(

As has brought up in the current CotCT Hardcover discussion thread, there has been a discussion over a potential GM guide to cover aspects, such as: modifying APs/adventures for smaller or larger parties, or handling higher level parties and keeping them running smooth.
James Jacobs wrote: Frankly, a "how to adapt adventures" product is a good idea. A product that helps GMs adjust adventures for more players or to account for new character build options is something I've wanted to do for a LONG LONG LONG time. It'd double down with a "How do you build adventures" handbook and perhaps even a book to help GMs run higher level content, with tips and suggestions for how to keep a game running smoothly at those levels. Unfortunately, I've had no luck (obviously) convincing management that such a book would be a wise idea to put on the schedule, and they are probably right, since a book like this would most likely sell a LOT less than another book filled with character options. Now, James has voiced an interest in such a book and I can understand and respect Paizo's reluctance in doing such a book. They are a buisness after all, so they need put their resources into products that will sell.
James Jacobs wrote: What would REALLY help would be if the customer base were vocal about wanting a book. What do the rest of you think, as a community?
Would something along these lines be of interest?
What would you be interested in seeing covered?
Discuss...
(And yes... I would very much like a new resource for running games and ideas for handling the pitfalls that come up along the way.)

Going by your name, I have a feeling you may have had a hand in that, where the scissors were concerned?

That's one of the reasons I had remembered it and sought to revisit it.

*cue the ominous music...*
Dang son... that was quick... many thanks.
*bows to your superior search skills*
A long while ago, in a thread about alignments, there had been a post of a poem about "It's Hard to be Good". I remember it had been countered by a "It's Hard to be Evil" post...
As my google-fu has been wuite, lacking, I was wondering if anyone had remembered these posts/thread. I want to say that the discussion had happened here on the Paizo forums... Barring that it may have been on the old 3.5 Wizard's boards.
*looks at the clock and notices the time...*
Just what are your normal hours... by my reconing, it is currently 11:30pm (central)... shouldn't you be in bed by now?
So, what are the chances of an AP featuring Xenomorphs?
True that...
*starts patiently refreshing the product page....*

One thing I wonder... will we get access to an updated poster map (8 panel)?
EDIT: I guess I could be clearer... an updated poster map of Korvosa.

That seems like something that wouldn't have to be done by paizo itself. Could make a good community project. Perhaps even along the lines of a Paizo backed competition? Not sure if a competition is the best way to create a product designed to give advice. As Hayato Ken put it abive, it wouldn't need to necessarily be a product, but a series of DMing blogs that people could summit their articles for.

I was checking some stuff on the PRD for starting ages, when I noticed thatsome races (such as the Dhampir) can actually start out at extreme ages.
For example for a Wizard... 20 + 10d6 with the dhampir.
Is this really intended?
Ahh... ty much.
All cleared up now. :o)

Well, I'm sticking with my wish that he is working on a "What's New" AP... Besides, it's about time we got updated stats for the What's New Dragon...
When taking an Overrun action as part of a charge...
Does the overrun get the +2 bonus with the charge
And/or
Can you still make a normal attack with the charge, plus an overrun.

So, I'll be getting this. The question I'd have is whether this is an anniversary edition, or something else?
The 10th year anniversary isn't for around another year and a half? Right?
So this would put this around a year prior to the anniversary?
Is this an indication that we might get another for the anniversary...or is this book it?
This isn't an "Anniversary Edition." It's just a hardcover edition. Its existence neither confirms nor denies any other plans we may or may not have for the 10th year anniversary; it exists outside of and apart from that. Selective reading is always fun!
I will misinterpret that statement to my own amusement and look forward to the big Tenth Anniversary plan. LOL...
Selective hearing/reading... You must be married... Yes?
Just chatting with a friend... With a CotCT hardback, that means a new, pawn set and perhaps an interactive map too?
Oooo..oooo...ooo...
And a new poster map of Korvosa?

Need forward thinking for these kinds of things... :oP

LOL... I already informed my players that would be a no go...
What's in the box? wrote: Lol, I probably went to far, but there was an evil campaign where I convinced my DM to allow for Gestalt builds and 3rd party materials...
I played a Medusa witch with a coven of weapon transforming witches and shamans and had two cohorts where were held in each hand as a syringe spear and dagger. My two cohorts had levels of magus and could channel spells through themselves when I attacked. There were a series of feats where I could aggregate my covens spell slots together and cast any spell available (which gave me over 60 first level spells).
3rd party stuff is not meant for balance. One weapon would Evil Eye, the Other Misfortune and then I would Stone Gaze... IT WAS AWESOME!
0.o?
Yup... 1 cohort only.
The reason I was wondering about it, goes back to a post I made in the Advice forum, where I have a player (witch) is looking to start their own philosophy...
Everything that I am seeing so far, indicates no.
Do the rules allow for multiple cohorts?
Hmmm... CC... Chaotic Clumsy.
Have you seen the mess he leaves behind when he walks through town?

I think the player should get some kind of rolls to have the cult make a splash or have an impact. Because then it generates plot: like when the Inquisitor squad shows up to purge the heretics, or when the King decides he wants to co-opt the faith for his own politics, or when another member of the faith challenges the PC for leadership of it, etc. These are all interesting plot hooks that can be used to draw the other players into a larger story and get them to interact more with the game world.
This is the kind of thing I am wondering about...
It is a Witch who is behind this... Do I base it off of K:Arcana? Diplomacy, Spellcraft or K:Religion?
Tround wrote: The Ultimate Campaign book has some rules and guidelines for constructing buildings and creating/founding organizations. It's probably worth a look through for what you're discussing here. yup... I have started milling about in UC for ideas for stuctures/organizations. The part I'm not to sure of, or comfortable, with is how organizations are handled... I.e. "I'll just hire some more to fill the ranks per these construction rules..."
Well, in this case... it is a Witch who seeks to found their own philosophy. And as he rightly put it, a philosophy does not need a patron deity (see the Green Faith). Just like a Cleric does not need a deity.
That could be a quick and clean option, by limiting the congregation to to his Leadership. Though, he may not be to keen on it.
Edit: Hey now... Holy Banjo is life and goodness... :oP
Very much agreed. I can see this potentiality going south quick.
Hopefully I will know more this weekend, when we get together next.
I have player who plans on taking the Leadership feat next level. This, in of itself, isn't an issue... The problem I'm seeing right now is that he has recently informed me that he wants to start his own philosophy/faith.
Right now, I don't know to much as to what this new faith will entail... beyond that he is basing it on a RL faith. Presumably, he will be looking to use his new followers and cohort as his starting congregation. Plus, he does have a map of the new "tabernacle" he wishes to build, drawn up.
What I am wondering about now, is if there are rule/guidelines out there for attracting new converts. Or, what kinds of exoeriences others may have had with this kind of thing in their games, such as pit falls or short comings.
Personally, I'm partial to casters.
I can't say that I have a favorite though, beyond that I am looking forward to giving an Arcanist a run someday.
