Wildshape does not differ from that. I haven't read Animal Archive, and wasn't aware that it cleared that up.

Just curious, since the Worldwound AP is coming up, does that mean we will be learning more about Sarkoris? And if so, does that mean that we would learn a bit about the summoners' who lived there?
Yea, I know they aren't your favorite class, but this would be an opportunity to clean them up a little and integrate them a bit more into Golarion.
Between the Worldwound campaign setting book and Wrath of the Righteous, there'll be a LOT of new information about Sarkoris revealed. You will indeed learn a bit more about God Callers, although not a lot.

There's a chance. I didn't ask for any summoner NPCs in the outline to the authors, but they might end up putting one in and if they do, I might not take it out.
James Jacobs Creative Director |
1) We would have to integrate them with those of Ultimate combat if we ever get to tactical combat in and around the wagon, but they are a good base.
2) So I need to find a cousin or an uncle that make them. It seem appropriate to my character story.
Thanks.
1) I'd still use the Jade Regent rules entirely for combat involving entire caravans. For combat involving just the PCs, I'd just use normal combat.
2) That wasn't a question, but ok.

Do you have to hit with it before you can make the CMB check?
Does it deal damage and trip, or do you have to choose one or the other?
Does a small character really take a -1 size penalty to his CMB when using bolas?
Do you take range increment penalties on your CMB check when using them to trip?
Are you still limited to tripping a creature one size larger than you when throwing bolas? What if I were to use larger bolas?
Does using bolas to trip provoke attacks of opportunity?
Trip specifically says make a melee attack. How do I do that with bolas (a strictly ranged weapon)? Is tripping with bolas considered a melee or ranged attack?
Such an odd weapon! Quite simply, how are they meant to be used? Can you provide an example for us?

I have been an avid player and buyer of pathfinder products for a number of years, but I have to say that I am the most excited I have ever been about the product schedule in the coming months - mythic adventures is going to be a revolution, the wrath of the righteous AP has to be the most anticipated AP ever and chronicle of the righteous, the world wound, demons revisited, champions of purity and the demon hunters handbook together comprise the most comprehensive support package Paizo have ever produced for an AP. you guys rock. Dear James Jacobs,
I apologize if this is too much of a rules question, and if it is, I guess I'm asking how would you handle this in your games?
If a spellcaster casts a spell of a given duration and then gets knocked unconscious/killed, does the spell terminate? Or does it remain in effect until it's duration expires. Similarly do any summoned/called creatures he has hang around?
For example, a 10th level wizard has used Lesser Planar Binding to call a medium Water Elemental, Summon Monster III to summon 3 Hell Hounds, and Haste to buff himself, his pets, and his ally, a fighter.
The wizard is then dropped to -2 hp by a Fireball. What happens to his critters and the Haste spell? Does the answer change if he's dropped to -2 hp by a Disintegrate instead?
Thanks for your time!

What is your favorite Conan(the barbarian, not the comedian) short?
Hmmm... that's a hard one, especially since it's been quite a while since I read them. I guess the more memorable ones that I enjoyed were:
The Tower of the Elephant
The Frost Giant's Daughter
The Devil in Iron
Queen of the Black Coast
I know I'm forgetting some that I loved, of course...

So, are Vampires (and other such creatures that die in sunlight) affected specifically by "The Sun" or could you hypothetically create a light source bright enough to kill them?
Also, are any of the planets far enough away from the sun where these creatures wouldn't die due to exposure?
It has to be actual sunlight (or a spell like sunbeam or sunburst that creates actual sunlight) to hurt a vampire.
Yes.

Apologies if this has been asked (and subsequently answered) elsewhere, but your answer on the Unspeakable Futures thread got me thinking. Are you going to be writing an adventure for the Wrath of the Righteous AP? If so, can you say which chapter?
I didn't have the time to write a full adventure for Wrath of the Righteous, but neither did Greg Vaughan. So we're splitting the writing duties on part 4, "The Midnight Isles."

Kobolds don't have a specific deity; many of them worship Dahak or archdevils. Some of them worship plain old dragons.

The spell does not terminate once it's cast; it's duration persists for as long as its duration persists. The only way a spell would terminate when the caster goes down or is killed is in the case of a spell with a duration of "concentration."
In your example, his critters and the haste spell persist for their duration regardless of how he's killed.

Because the gods were not strong enough to kill Rovagug.
The gods we've had die so far are not among the most powerful of the gods. Althoguh Aroden was a god... he was a tiny shadow of the power of older deities like Sarenrae, Rovagug, Pharasma, Asmodeus, Desna, and Gozreh. Furthermore... Aroden didn't necessarilly get "killed" by another deity anyway—the method by which he was slain is a secret, and wouldn't it make sense that if the other deities knew what killed him they'd want to keep that information as secret as possible?

ok, although i was more thinking about Curchanus who was "killed" by lamashtu.
who was able to rip out pieces the god, causing his death, and he seems to have been a pretty powerful God. but i could understand certain Gods being so powerful that they become immune to that.
My follow up question then is, how does a God gain that kind of power. it's not based on worshippers. Sarenrae started as an emyperael lord, and it is stated in the book of the devils, she could have been easily killed by Asmodeus but he choose not, so there must be a means by which Gods grow in power and importance.

James,
Is there an in-universe explanation for why Golarion so closely mirrors Earth in some aspects? Examples include: The general shape of the continents, placement of Osirion where Egypt is on Earth. Azlant/Atlantis parallels. Arcadia representing the Americas. Viking from the Linnorm Kingdoms having settled in the northern reaches of Arcadia, etc.
Is there some sort of societal eugenics going on from something like the Vault Builders? Deific influence? Some sort of cosmic link between Earth and Golarion?

Same deal—the fact that Lamashtu killed Curchanus is not only unusual, but it's a testament to Lamashtu's power and a testament to Curchanus's relative lack of the same. Further, circumstances vary as far as attacks go.
The method by which deities gain power is not yet a topic we've covered, nor do we really plan to do so since, in my opinion, the fewer rules we restrict the gods to, the better.
Furthermore... whenever we publish mythological origin stories, such as the bit in Princes of Darkness, we intentionally skew them to be unreliable. Of COURSE a book about devils is going to claim that Asmodeus could have killed Sarenrae... but whether or not that's true or it's just Asmodeus and/or his followers making stuff up? Only the gods can say for sure.
(The fact that Sarenrae was the one who delivered the final blow that put Rovagug in his prison, though, tells me she's a lot tougher than Asmodeus might expect...)

For summoners, we built into the world the idea of diabolists and demonoligists who summon outsiders to do their bidding; there's a huge amount of this in Cheliax and the Worldwound, for example.
Unfortunately, the route the design team went with the summoner more or less diverted that intention into something entirely different. The inclusion of the eidolon, rather than having that be the conjuring of an established type of outsider like a demon or an angel that would...
Actually this could be very a cool idea. Good summoners get some sort of celestial friend, neutral gets some type of aberration (I can see a slight Lovecraftian flavor here), and evil has a infernal slave (or are you the slave?)
This companion increases in power but with cool powers to match it’s alignment. These would be mostly set up, but perhaps with some choices (Lvl 2 get +8 to one skill from the following:….)
Summoning would be limited, etc.
This would be a great “summoner”.

Dear Mr. Jacobs,
What happens if a flesh golem enters a big crate/coffin and then we cast invisibility on said crate/coffin? Does the golem (you know, the one that likes Taldan poetry ;-) ) become invisible too?
Thank you very much.
Making a crate or whatever invisible just makes it invisible, so you can see all the contents as if the crate wasn't there.

Paladins are, in my opinion, the least interesting class to play. Not only do other players and GMs tend to get weird about what is and isn't allowed for a paladin to do (an attitude I rarely see show up when someone plays an equally religious non-paladin lawful good character), but the code itself really limits the types of characters and personalities you can play. Again, in my opinion.
Paladins are actually my least favorite core class; not because they're bad, but because I just find them kinda boring.
My advice would be to pick one of the paladin deities and use that deity's personality traits and all that to inform your paladin's personality. A paladin of Abadar might be all about protecting merchants and cities and not so devoted to the good, while a paladin of Sarenrae might be really friendly and forgiving and easygoing.

James, in our next homebrew campaign the party's healer is going to be an oracle with the tongues curse and he wants to have Protean as his cursed language. While I know this isn't a legal option according to the APG, I'm still thinking it's fine, but I'm curious...
1) What does Protean sound like?
2) Does it sound mostly the same when two Protean speakers are talking to each other or simply in each others vicinity?
3) Can you use any sort of read lips skills on Protean speakers?
4) Is this even a language mortals (the oracle is a female lashunta, in this case) can comprehend and speak, or is Tongues / Comprehend Languages necessary?
5) How often does protean change and how quickly does that knowledge / proficiency in the change spread to all Protean speakers in the multi-verse?
6) Does anything else speak Protean besides the langauge's namesake?
7) Is Protean at all related to any other languages, like maybe the elemental ones?

A few more things to ask
1. To clarify an earlier question, is the being trapped in The Spheres on the Elemental Plane of Air a nod to Cryonax? I ask because it says it might be an Elemental Paragon, and one of the mentions of what kind it might be is ice, so it makes me wonder.
2. What do you think of Rusty and Co.?
3. If the creator of Rusty and Co asked you folks permission at Paizo, would you (or the person who is in charge of such things) let him use some of your copyrighted yet open content (Like the Gorzragh, the Seugathi, the Proteans and so on) creatures in his comic?
I ask because he got in a bit of trouble for using WotC-owned creatures in his comic, despite being a parody, and he's not sure about the legality of such things, and since you at Paizo are more relaxed/fan-friendly about these sort of things I was wondering what you think. Plus, I'd really love to see some of the Pathfinder creatures in the strip.
4. Just for funzies and/or adventure hooks, I must ask, what is Golarion's stage-play equivalent of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in terms of its cult following and strange transgressiveness?
5. For an insectoid race that doesn't have overpowered extra attacks, why not make them 4-legged and just give them a speed bonus? Or maybe make that other pair of arms non-dexterous but instead evolved for stuff like burrowing or webbing-production?
6. What do you think of my concept of The Handyman as a substitute for the Beholder that also tries to do its own thing:
It looks like an 8-armed humanoid in Monkish (As in the D&D eastern-style monk) dress with a giant hand for a head. Curiously, all the creature's hands look like left hands.
It'd have a few monk-like Special abillities, as well as a different special effect upon a hit for each of its 8 arms (So far I'm thinking one poisons, one blinds; deafens and dumbs, one traps you in a Forcecage, one sets you on fire, one freezes you solid, one causes the hitee to erupt in ally-hitting lightning, one causes bad luck, and one sends you flying). In addition, any spell fired at it has a 50% chance of being "caught" by the creature's hand-head and thrown back at the user.
Society-wise, they're basically a bunch of Lawful Evil monks, following their own personal philosophy. Of course, given that they are aberrant creatures, said personal philosophies are often nonsensical, contradictory and often downright insane. They despise all those who don't follow their own warped personal philosophies. And since no two Handymen's personal philosophies are the same, they all pretty much despise each other.
It's supposed to be the rough equivalent of the Beholder in that it's a weird looking anatomy-themed monster with lots of different ways to hurt you and with an insane xenophobia and hatred of others. But I do hope it does enough new that it works as its own creature as well.
7. On a quick scanthrough (Since I know you're busy) what do you think of my setting, Dungeonworld,, which is set in a world-sized dungeon, has monster races treated as normal races, and is overall very gonzo .I'm nowhere near done with it, but on a quick lookthrough, you can kinda get an idea of it.
:EDIT: Also, one more question I forgot. Is the Atropal going to make a comeback in Pathfinder? Because, the horrible undead god-fetus is one of the best things to come out of the Epic Level Handbook in my opinion.

Mr. James Jacobs,
Where did the death of Desna's mentor take place? Also, which part Golarion is it most coterminous with?
Long before Earthfall. And calling him Desna's mentor is actually not exactly right... he was more like the one who helped Desna acclimate to humanity. She was far older and more powerful than he was.
