can someone help me figure out what lesson I should be learning from muay thai, in the last two practices I have ended up with two bloody nosses, I'm drawing a blankto block.When I started muay thai I was already a 3rd dan in karate. I'd say that some fundamentals of hand to hand combat would be a better way to start. So, yes, blocking and defense, torso exercise (hanging leg lifts and situps), and proper breath control.
Unless you're a psycho who loves pain, then jump right in. There are dudes like that. I trained with some guys in kyokushinkai and they liked to smash their bodies and remake themselves in hardened, relentless, power-drenched one man armies. They had a high drop out rate compared to other schools. Also, lots of them have arthritis today and their anger management problems remain.

I think I prefer Dr. Doom's prescription better (and truth be told I could do with some of those anytime soon... while 3 and ahalf weeks isn't the longest I've gone without it certainly doesn't help. :( ).

Sort of. Not really. I looked up the individuals to see what the average price is, but there's definitely a lot of variance. If you email me which ones you might like I'll let you have them for something reasonably lower than that since I haven't had to pay to list them yet. There's definitely room for negotiation.
