Seriously, can someone educate me regarding my options while grappled? I never got the hang of the old rules, but I understand these are significantly different. (Everyone keeps complaining that you can't use combat maneuvers at low levels - don't tell that to these airborne apes. Sheesh.)

CMB or Escape Artist check to escape.

Attack roll at -2.

In your context, that's pretty much it.

Or wait a moment and let your friend shoot it off of you, apparently.

Yeah, that works too.

I'm going away for a week and will be returning on Monday 22. I'll try to get a map of the bandit's camp to Zark who's a bit more computer savvy than me, and see if he can get it published somehow. I did ask one of my other gaming buddies for help [snark]sometime around 1842[/snark] but he seems to have forgotten all about it. Anyway, I hope you have plenty of time to plan your assault.

After that, I plan to remain in town and in touch all summer. See ya.

Won't be able to to it on monday, i'm just starting to learn the software. I will probably be able to in a couple of days. But I need to know how to publish it. Any advice?

I will probably be ending this game after the battle with the bandits. I'm thinking of starting another PbP when the core rules come out, which you are all welcome to join of course.

Originally I started this to open some spots for people who couldn't get in the other Barakus game, but now 5 out of 6 players are the same, so that purpose is sort of obsolete.

I've had a great time with this game, but I think it's time to wrap it up. There may be a chance to integrate the characters into the other game if you're interested, but for now I feel that if and when you defeat the bandits and possibly regain your standing in Warwik, that would make for a fine conclusion.

So go get them, shall we?

Makes sense. I'm afraid I wasn't really getting into Clark as a character, anyway. I am interested to see what you do with the new game, though. I would happily reserve a spot at the new table if you allow it.

I'll definitely reserve a spot for you. In fact, I'll probably be giving priority to anyone that has gamed with me and enjoyed it.

I suspect we will need to NPC for our remaining comrades since we haven't heard from them in a while. Any volunteers? I've done my share in other games and don't want to deprive anyone of the fun...

Let's see if there are any volunteers. Otherwise I'll NPC them. I would appreciate if someone would step up, though. As Ainvar said, he's done his share. Just let me know.

I don't mind, but I'm a bit pressed to post for my characters atm, so I'm all to happy for someone else to cover.

Well, the bandit fight is over and there just remains some wrapping up (and possibly a bit of rejoicing).

I've been thinking that since there seems to be a spot open in the other team (Proteus seems to be long gone), I'll say that Felicia is welcome to join. We've had fun with two halfling girls before.

It might be silly to have two bards, but since we're going to be switching to PFRPG rules soon anyway, I'll let you all do a certain amount of retconning your characters, so if Roylenna wants to go all sorcerer, that's fine with me.

Zark and Juliare, if you prefer Petra or Juliare to Chris and Mahaffy, you're welcome to switch too. Just let me know.

We'll just play out the looting and triumphant return to Endhome, and then we'll be done.

Ooh, can't wait. My pre-order's in!!

I'm torn about a redesign for the wee one. Part of the purpose in the level of bard was because second-level sorcerer was very underwhelming, power-wise, and because it provided us with a secondary healer. If Proteus is truly out of the picture, we are lacking a primary healer. If Felicia (can she heal?) and Roylenna can both heal, we might make up for that lack.

Of course, Chris might be able to fill those shoes, if that's the desired build for that character, too.

I rather play Petra. I discovered I don't like druids. The animal companion is just not my thing.

I'm gonna play Petra so healing is no problem, channel energy and all that :-)

I've called our Friendly Local Gaming Store today. Come to think of it they are not so friendly. They have only ordered 10 PFRPG core books. They are very confused so I don't expect them to have the copies at the store on the 13 of August....Sweden is a log way from the U.S.
Sigh, I'm getting the PDF too so I guess should be all right.

Heh. For what it's worth, PFRPG Druids do not have to have an animal companion, but I'm tickled to hear we have a cleric in the group. Channel energy and all that...

Might have to look seriously at trading for a level of sorcerer, after all.

I'll be interested to see what you think of the final version of the celestial sorcerer.

Personally, I'm excited about getting a second favored class, since I kinda got derailed on my original plan for the character.... ;)

Uh-huh. Thought so. My pre-order's in and confirmed.

I'll keep Mahaffy . Having a rogue is more useful than having a ranger . What's more Juliare remembers he still has a mission from the temple and would not at this point abandon this duty .

Of course , WHEN BT will kill Mahaffy , Juliare will be ready to step in his shoes :)

Yeah, I would enjoy having Kirwen around as backup for Sandros, should things go south at some point...

Actually, hapless as he was for a while, Clark's started to grow on me, as well, so I wouldn't be against keeping him alive as a backup character.

LOL: How silly of me. I really hope we get our copies on the 13:th.

I will get the PDF too, but Paizos webpage probably will crash on the 13. Funny they release it on the 13:th, a bad luck number.

Celestial sorcerer? It was one of the more fun bloodlines in the beta, but I hope it's slightly better than the beta. Sorcerer, Paladin, Bard and Cleric they all seem interesting. All of them are classes that focus on charisma so I guess that's say someting about me as a player.

Zark wrote:

Hmmm... We'll have to ask BT if it's because you are charismatic or want to be. ;-)

Just kidding, I'm sure it's the former.

I'm sending you back to town in a short while, where your adventures end for now. However, there is a short excursion to be had for those who are up for it, as a kind of coda. Any takers?

Which group, or should I say which characters? Or are they all eligible? Anybody up for a game of split personalities?

Nah, I'm good. I'll sit this one out.

*ahem* Sure, BT, what do you have in mind? Ignore the dueling pixies, please.

PaizoCon? PAIZOCON?

You went to PaizoCon and didn't let me know? We are practically neighbors, you know. Could have picked me up on your way out of state for the road trip and everything. *grumble*

Disappears for days on end, never writes, never calls, closes out the *sniff* Second Darkness pbp - Your mother and I were very worried, you know - and then we find out you went to PaizoCon and didn't say a word.

*sniff* No, don't mind me... I'll be fine... Eventually...

...

...

Well, glad that's out of the way. Was it cool? Did you get any cool stuff? Did you bring anything back for BT? How about for me? Huh? Huh?

Well, conversion is officially on, and there seems to be spots for Felicia and Petra in the other game thread, so that means I'll be shutting this down. Thank you all for playing.

Just a little curious: would Kirwen still be viable under the new rules?

Conversion: <Blech> I still think the second level for the sorcerer stinks and have no regrets for taking a level of bard first in the beta rules. Now her trademark ability has been seriously reined in making her bloodline less attractive from the get-go. <Blech>

OK, here's my thoughts -- I don't want to second-guess myself from here 'til Christmas and I know that at least two members of the party think I shouldn't have digressed into my (beta-rule) favored class. And now we have a bard in the party, anyway. So I will trade the level of bard for another level of sorcerer and I'll make sorcerer her favored class instead. Which means she will lose skill points, save bonus, spells per day, and spells known, in addition to the abilities of the bard class itself. But she will gain "favored class" skill points instead.

Her bloodline arcana focuses on summoning creatures and at this time she has no summoning spells, so I guess the logical choice for her new sorcerer spell will be from whatever Summoning spells are available at this level. Haven't looked yet, I assume Summon Monster I?

Since her ray has been seriously nerfed as an offensive weapon, I find Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot less compelling choices for feats. Would Spell Focus (Conjuration) and Augment Summoning be reasonable replacements?

Open to suggestions and comments, as I always am when it's time to level up.
