My bad I'll fix that I think its because I get one for race, three for ranks, and then three because I put it in there or something like that, is that how it works in pathfinder I havent looked in awhile I'll clear it up, sorry about that guys...

Oh and Sorry got all butt hurt, thinkin quick called him a coward but I thought a small, women, talling about a plan that he liked being a cowardly approach. Would (even if not directed at him) would just give him a reason to get mad, so it was a role play thing? Thats cool right, I've never done one of these before

Question: Synergy Bonuses are they still available in Beta?

Don't think so!

Nope

Just a question regarding clerics and weapon proficiencies;

Normally, in 3.P, clerics are proficient in their deity's favoured weapon. For a cleric like Quick, however, who worships a non-specific deity, no mention of a weapon is made.

Should there be one? Should I choose one?

Yes, there should be one. I think bow or spear would make sense, but I'm open to suggestions.

Spear sounds good to me!

Preferably one that makes a whoosing sound!

Quick'll buy one as soon as she can afford one.

"Besides, maybe we can find the others on the way. If they haven't killed themselves by now."

Your lack of confidence in my esteemed colleague Brock and myself wound us ... When we will blunder , we'll do it when you are here :)

Well, I have to admit, I've spent the last two days reading the adventures of the first group.

I can't believe they haven't died a hundred times already. Black Tom runs a scary game.

Though, Proteus' healing has saved them in every single circumstance. I look at Quick as the 'healer' in this circumstance, and am a little worried. No pressure.

I'm sure you guys will be fine, in the dark sewer, alone, with no healing. I'm sure also that we all would have made plans to meet again at the Ramshackle, or at Quick's house, later that night, to discuss what we had found.

I'm afraid that's a quality of Necromancer's games . I have several of them and while some encounters are easy , others are lethal . That's what I like , you have to learn to know when to fight , when to run and when to deal .

Ah, so Juliare is carrying silver weapons, I presume?

;)

Hopefully Brock's attacks are enough to get by the DR.

I have a 30' move speed ....

Something even Quick is jealous of.

Am I that obvious? ;) Yeah, this is old school. And scary.

In fact I was not sure if your description was High AC( natural + Dex) or Damage resistance but I figured Juliare would not know the difference yet . And yes , if I survive , you can be sure that cold iron and silver are on the list .

Actually it was supposed to represent natural armor, but that's telling in itself.

No thanks to the generosity of the DM.

:D

It was all Brock lol jk jk

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

It was a little bit of each, actually. I figured that the creature was still under the influence of Brock's Intimidate and misjudged the threat. And of course it's tedious to make up new characters.

But you have a point, that you actually caused it to flee. I'll raise the xp award to 100 each.

What the heck !!
The forum tells me Tom has posted but I don't see anything

Shadow Lodge

Male. Mostly. Elf Wizard3/Master Enchanter7

Still can't see anything?

Robin, Juliare would actually be the expert here, not Hessiah. If it was a were-rat, I believe Knowledge(Nature) presides.

I checked , Wererat are humanoids not monstrous humanoids
So knowledge local not nature
Thats why i said it was not natural ....

Shadow Lodge

Male. Mostly. Elf Wizard3/Master Enchanter7

oops! My mistake! I somehow thought Lycanthropy was K:(Nature) based!

While I think of it , thanks tom !
The way you introduced the wererat was really good . At least we know we fight a creature with DR

I've seen many characters killed because the adventure was based on player knowledge and not character knowledge. The usual complaint is then 'You should have do this since it was a ...' 'Our characters did'nt know this ! '
At least this time , you gave us clues .

Which remind me of a adventure with werewolves .
The Dm did give many hints to his players before . The only player to pick them up was the barbarian with 3 Int . When the were invited the characters to a sauna , he took aside the DM . 'They are werewolves , aren't they ? Yep . My character is too stupid to figure it out ? Yep . We are all dead ? Yep ' ... since then , the player never play character with less than 10 Int .

Male Half Elf ( want to make something of it !) Ranger 2

Quick , what Kanto does is not good but since Juliare is LN he see nothing wrong with forced rehabilitation as long as the law permits it. Since you are CG , I quite understand you are totally against this ...

Shadow Lodge

Male. Mostly. Elf Wizard3/Master Enchanter7

My contention is not one of alignment differences, but rather the reduction of these persons into tools; what you are suggesting inscribes them into an economy of use-value as objects or commodities.

There is nothing about poverty that deserves rehabilitation. To say that poor people should be used by the wealthy and powerful for whatever they want as "it's for their own good", is a statement of fascism.

That is my contention, and that is what I resist.

xdahnx wrote:

You 're totally right. Such a thing would be EVIL. The question is the purpose of the rehabilitation. Judges actually force some people to undergo drug or alcohol removal so they can embark after in a new life.

This doesn't respect their freedom . And it's a murky area where many people have different views .
Personally I think each people should be free to destroy himself as long as they destroy only theirself.
But some of my characters think and do things I would call monstrous.

To return to the adventure, what Juliare is trying to say is we should check what becomes of the people after their stay in the temple.
The hints are not good there but Juliare didn't go to the temple himself so he warns you there might be a lawful if not good explanation of the situation . After all , Bragger Bondhlome is aware of what happens in the temple and he is the chief guard of the town

Shadow Lodge

Male. Mostly. Elf Wizard3/Master Enchanter7

I think you misunderstand. I am calling Juliare a fascist. Or, perhaps, I am calling you a fascist. I am not clear where the division of character and player is with your statements.

xdahnx wrote:

I thought I was clear enough.

Neither Juliare or Robin would tolerate exploitation of someone for the good of others . This would be slavery rather than fascism, Fascism is something equally abhorrent but different

Juliare is thinking that the forced clean up of the citizen of the slum is a pity but as long as the person is the one who benefits at the end, he would tolerate this. Such a situation should be checked regularly to be sure there are no deviation of the purpose and of the means.

Robin know alas some people who think like Juliare . He doesn't like it and think they are not aware of the pitfalls of such a situation.
The warden becomes too easily a tyrant and when you don't fight for freedom, you lose it. Robin think you have to offer help not to impose it from outside .

I knew Juliare statements could be taken the wrong way . That's why we discuss them here. Please note that Juliare doesn't know that the beggars are forced to work at the temple as sweepers. His reaction would have been different then.

Post-it : I have just re-read the initial statements of Juliare. They were more harsh than intended . Especially , the 'make them work' is completely misleading. I better understand your reaction. A better formulation would have been : "give them a chance to be better citizens".

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK guys, there is great role-playing here, but please be nice, and try to separate player from character. I know that electronic communication has its limitations so please give each other the benefit of doubt.

Also I'd like to stress that it is your responsibility to make your characters compatible. You have radically different alignments and outlooks here, so it's up to you to find a way to get along. Getting the party to work takes precedence over role-playing your character. I had the same worry with Hessiah and Brock, but they seem to get along fine. You'll have to find a way too.

That said, I think you both have valid points and since this is very much a site-based adventure I don't want to railroad you along any plot path. I'm just throwing out some hooks here. The role-playing has been great so far. Just be careful where it leads you.

Black Tom wrote:

Don't worry , we both aggreed to check the priestress and I still have hope to persuade Quick to come with me in the dark dank smelly sewers .

I Guess some tensions were inevitable at the start but more and more we'll work together , the better it'll be.
Now the next time , Brock calls me a female elf...

Shadow Lodge

Male. Mostly. Elf Wizard3/Master Enchanter7

I think it also has something to do with the communication. I am in no way searching for a fight; It's just not always clear when you are talking, and when Juliare is talking.

When I write comments like this, they are always out-of-character comments. This is dahn talking.

In this thread, it is also always dahn talking.

When I use Quick's avatar, and she begins saying things like "Saddle Up", in quotations, that is her talking.

--
In the gameplay thread, you were responding to things I was saying as if Quick was saying them. Likewise, you were responding as Juliare. Call me confused, is all.

I don't mean to make any assumptions about you. I don't know you, or anything about you. However, this is the Internet, and it would be wholly possible for you to share those views with Juliare. I needed to make a distinction.

No harm, No foul, No disrespect. I have no intention of de-railing this thing. I just need to know who I'm arguing with!

There is the problem !
In the discussion thread , I speak as Robin but I can explain the point of view of Juliare
In the gameplay thread . I try to speak as my character even in aside comments and I thought you were doing the same .
As you say , no harm , no foul , No disrespect .
From now on , in OOC in the gameplay I'll try to be clearer.

Tom ,in your game ,is the casting of spells obvious or not.
I ask before I have had somes DM for which Charm Person could be cast discreetly and some who didn't rule so .
I'm not asking if I recongize the spells casted but if when some cast ( or bluff a casting ) , we know it .

Generally spellcasting is obvious. The exception is if the spell doesn't have either verbal or somatic components.

Male Human (Dunael) Druid

Here is Warenhari of the Dunael Woods-Folk. I pulled out my Player's Guide to the Wilderlands for some color and background. I hope I didn't exceed your boundaries.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

You're very welcome. I've been longing to playtest the Pathfinder druid. I'll try to get you into the action immediately.

There is just a couple of small things. There are no gods in this campaign world, just ideals, but many clerics (and druids) express their beliefs in terms of gods anyway, so it doesn't really make a big difference. Just a metaphysical point.

I've been wondering how to convert the Dunael's rage ability, and for now I'll grant you Orc ferocity when fighting orcs. I thought it made some kind of sense.

You start with one hero point. I hope you can dig up what they are good for somewhere in the discussion threads.

Again welcome! Just roll for initiative and dive in. We'll just say that you happened to pass by the docks and saw a man fighting an eagle while there seems to be some kind of ruckus inside an old derelict warehouse.

You can find the hero points discussion here. And Some general maps and other info here.

Good to have you on board.

A Quick intro to Quick.

She's a cleric with the air and animal domains, but only in terms of mechanics. She's got a connection to this thing called Spark. She doesn't really know what it is, but she knows that it's inside her. It can manifest as some animals, and as some lightning, so she knows it's a pretty primal force.

In terms of flavour, picture a wild west, gun totin' cowgirl. She's got sass, and charisma, and if Use Rope existed in Beta she'd be lassooing everything, just for kicks. Sometimes I use flavour words from pages like this. Chances are, if you have no idea what she is saying, that's why.

There were two races with very similar names that started with D. I am at work, so I don't have my books, but I meant to pick the one without rage. It didn't seem like rage and druid went together, although the thought of angry little vines grabbing your feet does sound very b-movie cool. I meant to use the one that is just a plain human whose culture has the favored enemy of orc.

Thank you! It sounds like Warenhari and Quick have some common interests, so I guess we'll get along pretty well.

I imagine Waren as being "country boy come to town." He's heard that people con and cheat other people, but he hasn't observed or experienced anything like that - yet. Like Quick, he felt a connection to something bigger, but there was no one among the Rangers to help him explore this connection. So here he is, looking not only for answers, but also for a way to end the endless war between his people and the Orcs of the Purple Claw.

Thanks for the links! The flavor words sound like a great idea. I'm looking forward to picking up some cowboy lingo.

welcome aboard :D

Grin ! I shouldn't sleep this much . I come back and a new player is here
A big welcome to you!

I don't have my books either at the moment, but I'll get back to you. I don't think it's a big deal. Anyway, you'll fit right into this motley band.

Using the animal domain power, I have a bit of flexibility with my animal companion. I can summon Spark as a Dire Rat as well, and two is always better than one. That will sure be a sight to see. Not until an hour or so, however. The eagle that went poof was Spark.

Very excited.

Now, help us figure out what's going on.

I think we have all seen Worst/proteus map .
Does anyone of us have a product we could use to do maps ?
Is there any volunteer ?
