Kirwen and Thrakhir can level up, and all survivors get a hero point, but then you'll need to decide what to do and where to go next. Will you leave town quietly or will you try to evade the authorities?

Quick will unfortunately be leaving you, but hopefully Ainvar will take on Clark and perhaps we'll have a player for Raven, too.

I think we should leave, I think thats the best move. I also think I'm ready to adventure out in the wilderness!

For the record, if you are planning to adapt the PF paladin I linked to for this (which would be awesome, you should probably be aware that the healing doesn't really kick in until 2nd level. From there on out, though, it's all good.

It's all good. I'm not planning to be terribly fancy with him - unless someone has an overwhelmingly better choice, I'm planning on Power Attack and Cleave for his feats.

What gear does the poor boy have, by the way? Literal mphasis on poor, by the way.

He's nearly done, I believe, once I know what equipment he has to finalize AC and attacks.

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

If my math is right, we're looking at 865.8 gp worth of loot total (sale value). The first question would be, how many of us are actually splitting this treasure? Does Quick get a share? Do Clark and Raven?

Kirwen likes his bling, so he's gonna want the rings (as I already posted), and he'll probably want to keep the bracelets as well.

Clark will certainly be interested in the breastplate if Brock does not want it, but he'll defer to the more experienced warrior.

Going back through the thread, it appears to me that Clark would have 21gp and a reasonable chance at having picked up a longsword, longbow, quivers of arrows, and a shield from fallen guards at the temple. Is that acceptable, BT? I'll assume that any donations he receives from his adoring fans ;-) will round out his starting gold (rather than him having starting gold PLUS the items he's scrounged) unless you say otherwise.

Oh, and I see that my brief attempt at a background doesn't square with his introduction into the thread, so I'll go work that over a bit, too.

That sounds fine. Hopefully we'll have a player for Raven soon.

I think Brock will give his old scale mail to Clark without much ado . .
Haun ?

Also , what we did win this time should be divided evenly among all those presents .
At h temple I did give less to Clark since he didn't do anything but this doesn't apply there !

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

I'll be away on vacation the coming week. Hopefully that will leave time for our possible new player to stat up Raven (20 point buy, standard equipment plus her share of the loot, 3 hero points to start with (same for Clark, by the way), you know the drill.

If noone has showed when I'm back, Raven stays an NPC.

And it seems fair to me to divide the spoils equally (including Quick).

No worries, robin. Clark would understand if he got a lesser share again. What would his share come to? I'll assume he's buying Brock's old armor and go from there.

Yeah Brock will just give him his old armor no problems man he would be insulted if you offered to pay.

Awesome. Welcome to the funer- er, party!

Basically, all you really need to do for the PbP is to make yourself a character and an alias to post under. Have you read through the game thread so far? Most of the 'learning' consists of seeing how everyone else does it...

First of all welcome !

Second of all , my condoleances ! I MUST warn you that since we can't go to his home and beat him senseless , Tom is an harsh DM there who doesn't hesitate to kill us when we charge a force ten times superior !

Hopefully , you are 10 feet and 20 muscle pounds greater than Tom and you'll be able to restablish some balance here !

Sorry , Tom , couldn't resist ! For the record , I find you a great DM

I have read most of the geam therad. I'll have to read it again though. Shall I make a new Character or pick Raven? What class do you need? I play anything that the group needs.

So I shall not post under Zark?
Shall I use my characters name as an alias?
I of to bed now. Thanx for the warm welcome.

ahaha! Yes, he is indeed a harsh DM, but I love it.

I could probably beat him, but then he would curse me. A curse by BlackTom is not something I would want. The bodycount at the tabletop is high. So I won't mess with my DM :-)
Anyway. He is great. He laughs a lot and swears some.

Welcome Zark!

We're glad to have you. If you're asking for opinions, I think a healer would best help out the party in our current makeup. Whether you pick up Raven or start your own character is up to you and Black Tom.

As far as how to post, typically, people create an alias and use it in the game thread (I play Thrakhir) and then discussion posts (this board) are made using whatever user you like.

Hope I've helped.

It is excellent to have you aboard. We, apparently, need all the help we can get. ;)

Welcome, Zark!

I'm the one that's stepping in as Clark. Tom indicated that as an NPC, Raven was going to become a bard, but he's said he would not hold us to those plans, so if you are of a mind to play something else, I think you'll be fine.

And you don't have to keep Raven as the character's name -- that could easily be the name given by the slavers and not her true name, so you are welcome to start using your "real" name instead of Raven.

Tom's last post on this thread, I believe, indicates guidelines for abilities scores and such, but you've probably already seen.

Most importantly, this is a great group. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask. We've all been the new guy in the group at some point and everybody seems to be really helpful, whether it's "how do I do this" or "what should I do next" type questions.

Again, welcome aboard!

WELCOME! Your going to have fun man! Good to have you on the Team!

M Half-orc (PF), Orc (Earthdawn) swashbuckler? (PF) Swordmaster (Earthdawn)

Thank you all. I've had a great time and laughed a lot reading this thread. You're all great.
I fix a charisma cleric (with selective channeling) as soon as I get back from work. For some reason this page is blocked at my workplace.

Hey, y'all! I think Clark's ready to go. If anyone has time and/or interest, I'd welcome your thoughts and especially proofreading.

Female Human mixed blood (Skandik blood link) Cleric 2 (favored class)

Starting to get my cleric in shape (check her out if you will). Anyone you know how DM rule on the craft skill? The new rules aren't ready as far as I know?
How does the dice roll work?
/Petra aka Zark (aka Raven?)

You know, I don't think that any questions about the Craft skill have come up that I recall, so I don't know Black Tom's thoughts on them. Maybe one of the others can help you there.

As for the rolling of dice, there are a number of options. The most common seems to be here: www.invisiblecastle.com.

That site occasionally has issues, so it's good to have a backup. You might look at www.dmtools.org as a second option.

Hope that helps! I hope to have time to check out Petra's profile later.

As a human, you get to choose a favored class (I'm guessing you'll go cleric), and then pick either an extra hit point or an extra skill point at each level you take in that class.

Are you planning to use a sling regularly?

Shisumo wrote:

Actually, that probably answers a question I had. I noticed that Petra appears to have invested in four skills. The cleric gets 2 points per level, Petra gets no extra points from her Intelligence score, as a human she gets a third skill point per level, and if cleric is her favored class, she gets skill point #4. I was totally overlooking the bonus skill point as a human. Even though I'm pretty sure I remembered it for Clark's build.

One thing, though. I'm pretty sure that you will have to specify your Craft skill -- trapmaking, basketweaving, armorsmithing -- I don't think you can just take a blanket Craft skill. But as you say, it is BT's call.

I gonna go cleric all the way and pick an extra skill point each time.

I'm not sure if I go with the domains Liberation + water or liberation + earth.
I was thinking abot giving her Liberation and Artifice, but the Artifice domain really suck. But she'll have medning as one of her cantrips all the time.
Sling? I haven't thought about it, why? If I pick Earth as a Domain She will probably use a sling most of the time...and her scimitar.
Any suggestions?
Anyway, she's doesn't have that much money now (140 gp) so has She to use a sling ...and a her scimitar :-)
Does the group has a Healer’s kit?

Thanx, I'm gonna go Weaponsmithing. I was think about Alchemy or Armorsmithing but I think Weaponsmithing fits her profile.

I'm not sure if she'll be mixed human or if she should be Skandik. But for now she'll be a mixed human. I must check with DM first.
I might change some skills, but spellcraft and craft will remain.
By the way. Pladin now use charisma to cast spells (in case you didn't know). So wisdom doesn't have to be boosted (unless you want). :-)

Hi. I talked to BT and I'm gonna play Raven. I'll Renamne her Petra and make her blondish. Ravens dark hair was only dyed. She'll be a cleric.
Did she get 20 gp from Juliare?

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

To continue with our loot division, if I'm counting right, we're splitting the wererat loot between seven of us: Kirwen, Thrakhir, Juliare, Brock, Quick, Raven/Petra, and Clark. As an even split, that comes out to 123 gp, 6 sp, 8 cp (with 4 cp left over).

here's what we've got:
138 gp
48 sp
a 12-piece set of finely crafted flatware (worth about 70 gp)*
a silk cape (25 gp)*
a pair of gold bracelet shaped like intertwined snakes (20 gp each)
a masterwork flute (50 gp)*
a gold plated ink and pen set (75 gp)*
6 gold signet rings (5 gp each)
10 small sapphires (10 gp each)
a breastplate (100 gp)
a masterwork handaxe (153 gp)
a silver candelabra (45 gp)*

All prices are sale prices. The asterisk indicates something I assume we will just convert to cash.

Already claimed:
Kirwen - bracelets and rings (70 gp total)
Brock - breastplate (100 gp)
Thrakhir - mw handaxe and 1 sapphire (163 gp total)

I don't think anyone else has claimed anything yet.

Petra/Raven don't want the (magic) staff anymore. She got her Scimitar. Anyone want it or sell it?
Shisumo, did you have any advice to me about the sling?

Only inasmuch as it relates to whether you choose the Earth or Water domains. Eventually, if you choose Earth, you're going to have a ton of castings of magic stone, which only makes sense if you plan to use your sling a lot. Otherwise, I'd probably go with Water (having no idea about your character idea, that is; this is pure mechanical advice).

What did the staff do?

OK, thanx for the info. I'll stick to water and liberation, fits my idea of her background and what I want her to be.

I gues it is +1. Can you/the group identify it?

Yup.

Wow - with the scale mail to trade in, he's two gp short of a suit of chain mail. Need to look into me gear -- that sounds like a worthwhile purchase. Hope that's cool with Brock...

EDIT: Nope, decided against it. For one point of AC, there's a lot of downsides to the "upgrade". I'll save up for another breastplate or something heavier.

EDIT the second: Black Tom, Clark donated a total of 20 gp to Father Beamus' church from his stake and treasure split.

Liberty's Edge

Human (Minkai) Samurai (sword saint) 7 (Order of the Warrior)

Waiting to see what WorsT wants to do about the treasure split, since he's currently claiming more than his share - Kirwen would probably cheerfully front him the 30 gp out of his share to cover the axe, but he might look a little askance at the sapphire.

I dont want anything more then then the breastplate

Thrakhir will (begrudgingly) give up the the sapphire (you can see the pain in his eyes) and take the handaxe, thanking Kirwen for the loan.

So, everyone gets 123.68 gp, except Kirwen (who gets the bracelets and rings and 23.68), Thrakhir (who gets the handaxe) and Brock (who gets the breastplate and 23.68). We'll donate the extra 4 cp to Father Beamus or something.

Kirwen can take a stab at figuring out what Petra's staff does if no one knows, though he's not terribly good at it.

Casting detect magic and then using Appraise (1d20+4=20)
