Over ten years ago, the city of Korvosa suffered under the rule of the tyrannical Queen Ileosa. The city has recovered from her rule, but now people are seeing her ghost appearing after dark in places where her cruelty hit particularly hard. Whispers of conspiracies, people vanishing off the streets, and the death of a prominent local religious leader have the city of Korvosa on edge. Can you unravel the truth about this latest threat to the city before it's too late?

"Shadows at Sundown" is a Pathfinder adventure for 11th-level characters. Featuring the potential return of several classic villains, an extensive investigation of a supernatural mystery, and several dangerous locations to explore, this adventure is ready to give your group the chance to save the city of Korvosa from some of its most notorious dangers—or the chance for the heroes to see their final sunset!

This adventure can be used with the Pathfinder Flip-Mat: Shadows at Sundown.

Nice to see we are returning to old haunts! Keep up the good work all!

Bring back Grey Maidens and let them spread into the wider world bet they just look and are cool? I'd be hype for that.

In general I'm excited for this. I love Korvosa. I'm interested to see what's changed.

There’s those two successor groups - and of the two, I’d adore checking in on the Scarlet Rose again. Makes a good hook for a PC playing this, also.

The return/reimagining of the Gray Maiden Archetype from the Playtest would be a neat inclusion.

I don't want to hype myself up for stuff that's not too likely to pop up here, but in my wildest dreams we get a revision of that Grey Maiden Archetype, alongside a look at the Scarlet Rose. The way Filarina's story went from kind of uncomfortable to a genuinely inspiring trans woman's story was awesome, and I'd love to see her partner and fellow ex-Maiden partner get a depiction less steeped in harmful, pop culture ableist stereotypes of DID (as she's a "mentally transforms into a violent alter ego" vigilante).

But it's worth remembering that nothing on this page mentions the Grey Maidens, so it's best to rein in those thoughts a little.

Back cover text:

"Fear the Setting of the Sun!

It has been well over a decade since Queen Ileosa was defeated, but the city of Korvosa still fears the evil tyrant’s legacy. And so when ghosts of the sinister queen manifest on the streets after dark, the need for new heroes arises! Pathfinder Adventure: Shadows at Sundown is an adventure for 11th-level characters written by Landon Winkler. While a standalone story, it builds upon themes and plots from years of adventures set in the Varisian city of Korvosa, and includes new monsters and new challenges to test the mightiest heroes. Who will save the city of Korvosa from the dangers that hide in the Shadows at Sundown?"

So as someone who got into Golarion with 2E I basically know nothing about Korvosa and what happened there before, will this adventure be suitable for such a group?

Our Adventures provide backstories to make them suitable, yes.

14th level, most likely, once all is said and done (the adventure provides play for levels 11–13).

There will be adventure Backgrounds? I haven't seen those since Fall of Plaguestone.

There won't be, really. Adventure backgrounds don't make a lot of sense to me to include in an adventure that doesn't start at 1st level, and they also don't really make sense to me for a standalone adventure, since the intent there is that a GM will most likely work the adventure into an ongoing campaign where backgrounds are, in theory, already chosen.

Me and my group just finished Curse, it will be fun to play this adventure with legacy characters of our original group, wheter they be followers, offsprings, disciples, or simply people we inspired in some way.

While I do enjoy Curse of the Crimson Throne and Korvosa, I was hoping the next adventure would tread new ground as opposed to being based on the events of Curse (as we've already had the original 3.5 Curse, the PF1 Curse update, an entire book of Shattered Star, part of Return of the Runelords, and The House on Hook Street).

Still, I'm sure it'll be fun and enjoyable by folks who are familiar with Curse.

2e has largely been breaking new ground with its adventure/adventure path material: the Isle of Kortos, Goka, most of the Mwangi Expanse, Galt, the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, Alkenstar, Geb… for folks like me who are desperate to see new places, I don’t mind that pace at all, but I’m still happy we’re getting a nostalgia bomb for the enfranchised fans from 1e.

So I guess you were as puzzled as I was when the Player's Guide for Fists of the Ruby Phoenix included adventure backgrounds? I remember arguing that Paizo wouldn't do it for pretty much the reasons you just cited.

Not really? I think of an Adventure Path as a pre-written campaign; FotRP just happened to be one that started at level 11. Adventures, on the other hand, are basically one single "arc" - the assumed length of play is shorter than what most would call a campaign.

I wasn't puzzled at all. There's a big difference between a one-shot adventure and an Adventure Path. Also, Fists of the Ruby Phoenix was our first Adventure Path where you start at a higher level. Also, Adventure Paths have player's guides, and don't have to use precious wordcount in print for backgrounds. Also, that was developed by another person. Lots of reasons. Not every developer at Paizo does things the same way.

Tiurns out we don't redesign art we feel we got right in the first place. (Something that happens more frequently with creatures WE create rather than those we pick up from other systems, where we have to work against an established expectation.)

They usually include enough info to make it work, but I doubt it'll land with as much as impact as it would if you had played Curse of the Crimson Throne.

We just finished that one and the preview of this makes me want to dust off my Bard and dive right back in.

most of my favorite designs that got changed in 2e were paizo original creatures (or at least paizo original creatures belonging to D&D category like devils) though ^^; But yeah I do get yer point xD
