From the office of expectation management:
There won't be stat blocks for any of the characters featured in this book.
Part of the reason for this decision is that we haven't nailed down the exact level/abilities of some of the featured characters as some of them are newer or even brand new. In other cases, we don't necessarily have the rules to support every aspect of a character (e.g. gun rules for characters who use guns or stats for characters higher than 25th level).
If and when these characters need stats, we will be providing them for the stories we want to tell. In the meanwhile, keeping them without stats allows GMs to use the stats that best fit their game. For example, if you decided that Jatembe has grown weaker since the last time he was seen, he can be a lower level for your particular game.
Rather than locking in stats and forcing stories to be told at specific levels, we wanted to keep things open for all groups (and ourselves!) to tell the stories that work best for their games. For now, you can expect a lot of information on the background, personality, and relationships of the featured characters with a healthy sprinkling of plot hooks. We're excited to see everyone's feelings and reactions on the format to see if it's something that might work for similar products in the future.
Once the book comes out (at GenCon!), let us know what you think!
Super cool idea. Yay Jatembe :D

Do we know, if or when these options will be PFS legal?
I don't think there's been any word either way, but if I had to guess, due to the nature of the rules stuff being Uncommon/Rare/Unique and focused on being learned/acquired from the specific individuals in question, they'd make for great Chronicle Sheet rewards. But that's just me taking a stab in the dark.

Correct. Since all of the mechanics in this book are of uncommon or greater rarity and specifically tied to unique characters and story elements, there will not be any sanctioned options available from this book that don't require a boon of some kind.
Edit Minor correction as pointed out to me by Luis! There is an archetype in here you can access by taking a specific background from the Lost Omens World Guide, and three new deities from the same section.

Just finished my first read of the PDF. This is a very interesting book. Reading this, I definitely understand why everyone was saying that this is an experiment. It's much lighter on rules content than I had expected, which I admit took me out of it a bit until I figured out what they were going for. It presents a look at various NPCs, but what it really does is provide a ton of adventure hooks that can take a party throughout the Inner Sea and beyond. These hooks are informed by how these people relate to each other and what that means for the Inner Sea as a whole. I can definitely see parties coming to blows with some of the people here. Sometimes that will be regretful. Other times will be potentially very satisfying. There is a good mix of new characters and old favourites, with new light being cast on certain figures. There are references to characters even beyond those spotlighted. Some of them are old friends, including a Pathfinder Tales protagonist (and no, not Varian or Radovan).
I will be rereading this. Unless something changes my opinion (I don't think anything will, but just in case), I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about the Inner Sea and is not afraid of spoilers. Not every 1E AP is spoiled, but more are than are not. I for one am glad to find out some of the canon endings for the newer APs. One in particular put a huge smile on my face.

@Evan Tarlton:
Perhaps once the book is released (officially), you could repost this as a review? (It seems to help Paizo when people leave a review.)
I know that I've certainly reconsidered my view, so thanks for your thoughts on it! :)
Carry on,
--C.
Sure. I'd be happy to do that.

Excited to pick this up when the PDF drops next week!
Unfortunately the timing is just off, and I have a session tomorrow (Friday) where players in my adapted Return of the Runelords campaign will be finally meeting
Any interesting tidbits anyone can share about this character in this new book? Particularly related to topics of redemption or the ancient past. I'd love to have some canon tales for her to fill downtime with, especially if it helps players trust her.

There absolutely are some interesting tidbits shared here that weren't in the volume in question, but most of them concern matters after Return. However...

Two days to go! I so want people to see this beautiful book!
Beautiful is indeed the word for it! Not only is the writing excellent, but there's tons of art- many of which make for great handouts/images to show players. The whole team really pulled out all the stops with this one.

I picked up my copy from the office last week when I scheduled a pick up for some tech equipment and books that I preferred physical copies of for work purposes, and I was so happy with Nankou. Nankou was my contribution to the book, and while I knew when I was writing him that I was intentionally channeling some parallels between Nankou's assumption of the title of linnorm king and the Alaska Native Claims Act, coming back and rereading the entry after some time had passed also had me seeing that my grandpa had definitely influenced my portrayal of Nankou as well.
My grandpa was a wanderer who'd disappear into the Alaskan wilderness for months at a time, then just show up back home one day with new stories. I hadn't been intentionally channeling that into Nankou, but reading it with fresh eyes I couldn't help but notice that it must have been in the back of my mind.

Ahhhh that's so lovely to hear, you should know that Nankou was a surprise delight to me in the book! I vaguely knew there was a Varki linnorm king, but didn't know much else and didn't realise he was in the book, but he was one of my favourite entries!
I love the idea of a group of pcs in the frozen tundra just being helped out by a kind half-blind ranger and his bear and not realising until much much later that they fought and supped with a linnorm king himself!Rhuarc |
Could this be one of the rare few times that the official release date of the pdf will be before all subscribers get their access? My order has been 'Pending' since the 10th of July and I'm going to assume that there is only a small chance it gets shipped before tomorrow.
Anyone else has the same issue?

Yes and yes.
On the Customer Service forum, the July Shipping thread says they expect everything to be shipped to subscribers by 31st, which is a day after street date. This is caused by a combination of having to ship all Gencon orders rather than some being delivered at GenCon, a computer delay at the start of the process that knocked off a couple of days, and delays caused by social distancing in the warehouse reducing their efficiency, and the ability of all hands to assist as they usually do during busy months.

Hmm, interesting :O The canonical peace treaty between Ironfang Legion and Nirmathas involved two of onyx key shards being given away, one to Kraggodan and one to leaders of Nirmathas. So that confirms that Azaersi can't reset the citadel since she doesn't have access to all shards and thus she is limited to whereever she takes remain shards to

I'm debating whether to pick this up from my FLGS or just the pdf. I'm reading that the art is amazing, so it's pushing me more towards physical. I'm a sucker for fantasy art and PF2e has been on point so far.
Much as I'd like to be like, "oh, buy both!" I certainly understand limited funds to put into stuff like this.
I'd probably recommend the hardcover. This is a book you'll want to return to time and time again- or at least I hope!- and having that book on your shelf makes accessing that sense of physicality, of flipping through the pages and enjoying the art and words, very doable.

I also like how there are other post campaign articles without confirming they happened ;D Such as Choral the dragon theory and certain three headed raven from War for the Crown
Also one of my favorite lines in book:
"I am gravely disappointed in the quality of assassination in this country.
No one stays dead."

So for anyone interested in something altogether sillier, we've whipped up a, uh, "supplement." For the more socially-minded roleplayers :)

Why is it that this 128 page book is a $25 pdf.
Is that a typo? It seems a wee bit rich.Considering the Advance Player's Guide is $15.
