Did they rename paladin?! That's an interesting development!

Paladin will be the LG variant of Champion.

Will there be a way to get this edition through other stores outside of US or is the only way of getting it via pre-ordering here? I'm outside the US so shipping+customs is a pain.

I thought that I had heard on Twitch that these wouldn't be available to pre-order until April, but here they are...

...and there went a hefty chunk of money. :)

Can I buy a PDF edition?

In July, yes (although it may only be the standard, as the deluxe won’t be anything more in PDF)

Welp, preordered the Deluxes and refired my subs. Pump it straight into my veins okay? :P

Yeah, they turned it into a slightly more generic religious warrior with subclasses for each alignment. Paladin is the subclass for lawful good.

Not sure I would want to purchase a deluxe version that will likely be loaded with errata.

Maybe if it's reprinted later...

Can you say what channels these are specifically for the UK and Europe? Also hoping that Brexit won't affect shipping to the UK if the distributor is solely EU based. I had some trouble ordering the playtest book through Amazon last time and ended up having to cancel my order due to massive delays and uncertainty if it was an official Paizo seller. I can't wait to get my hands on these books but I can't afford to pay the import tax for American products.

Any chance these can be pre-ordered for collection at GenCon?

I really wanted to get mine at GenCon as my big memory item for the trip, but don't want to miss out on a special edition.

Dang, I was going to wait for the 2nd printing for the real life rulebooks for the inevitable errata, but this... THIS...! (growls in frustration)

While I struggle to decide whether to cash in or not for the next 4 months, I hope this won't run out...

----

P.S. If I preorder this, do I get the PDF version in time automatically, too?

Concur, its $40+USD to get it out to Singapore. My advice would be to keep an eye on bookdepository.com, that's where I get most of my Paizo hard copies.

So is the only difference between the standard edition and deluxe the cover and ribbon (well, that and $20...) or will there be additional content?

so if I preorder will I get it July 1st or will I need to wait till August 1st?

No additional content.

On or around August the 1st.

Wish the deluxe bestiary would be a little different looking than the deluxe core book. Like faux animal hide or something...

Silver Crusade

I do not believe that is the final cover atm.

faux fur?

Rysky wrote:

I certainly hope so. Not to be obnoxious, but the current image is a bit underwhelming. (this goes for both)

Silver Crusade

*nods*

The giveaway is that the information states there’s a metallic deboss that the preview lacks.

Curse of the Crimson Throne and Starfinder Core Rulebook Limited Editions for comparison.

A question that I haven't seen asked or answered anywhere so far - will there be an option for a GenCon pickup for preorders? There are parts of this that I don't want to have to wait to get home in order to be able to peruse.

Sara Marie has said that they're yet to confirm whether they will be able to do GenCon pickup.

Thank you. I read through most of the product pages and couldn’t find an answer, so I appreciate you giving me one. I guess I’ll wait To put in my order until I know one way or the other.

One more question that comes off of this though- will the deluxe hardcover be available at GenCon, or only as a preorder?

Do the Deluxe copies hold up better to use than the standard do? I had to to cover my 1st edition with duck tape to hold it to gather. So if the deluxe will hold up better, I think it would be worth the extra money.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I haven't noticed any difference between the deluxe hardcovers and the regular ones. If anything, I think I'd prefer a standard cover if durability is an issue - the deluxe ones are all one colour, so dings and scratches show up more than on the versions with artwork, Imo.

What is the difference between the Deluxe and normal versions? Is it just aesthetic or is there a content difference?

Mainly aesthetic. The covers are different but inside the text is identical.

I believe the bound in bookmark is a functional difference, but other than that it’s just the look.

Pure aesthetics. The content is the same as the regular editions in all of Paizo's special edition printings.

EDIT: Ninja'd! *shakes fist*

Will future books, in the vein of Bestiary 2, Advanced Player's Guide, and so on, come in deluxe editions? I don't want to start a faux leather collection only to have to downgrade later for the sake of aesthetics.

Based on previous precedents, it is highly doubtful that any books beyond the initial books would be printed in deluxe editions.

Has there been an update on what the cover looks like for the deluxe book? I'm interested to know prior to the book being delivered.

The problem with these deluxe rule books that they are destined to be outdated relatively soon by the first wave of errata and the inevitable reprint.

Silver Crusade

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That... applies to the normal rulebooks too.

Pathfinder Maps, Pathfinder Accessories Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Charter Superscriber; Starfinder Charter Superscriber

Yes, but it's less disappointing to replace the standard version with a reprint later than the deluxe edition. At least I'd think so.

Well yeah, but these are for collecting, not actual use really.

Well..really liking the look of the cover if that is the final artwork. Very glad I ordered this.

Silver Crusade

Oh snap. That's actually a really awesome cover.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Will it be possible to get the special edition versions through subscription of just the normal versions?

No, the deluxe hardcovers are not part of any subscription.

Thanks. I was digging through that post looking for the answer but didn't see it which is why I posted here.

The Gamemastery Guide seems to be getting a deluxe edition as well. So, all the books in the line have been announced with deluxe edition, and I suppose their reception will have a huge impact on future deluxe releases.

I hope to see an Advanced Players Guide and that it also comes with a deluxe edition. Beyond that I would be already satisfied with a deluxe set of "main" core books.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

Just preordered mine.
Now just hurry up and make a pocket edition so I can lend it out. Because I'm not letting anyone get their grubby paws on my Deluxe edition!

I was gonna just buy it at GenCon, but decided against because that's one extra thing i'd have to lug around throughout the trip, as well as lug it home. Just my thoughts.

Wait, this is for 2e, correct?

Silver Crusade

Yes.

Would ordering the Deluxe version give me a PDF version as part of the price? Or would I still need to buy the PDF separately?

Unfortunately no. You only get a PDF as part of a subscription. In this case you would still need to purchase the PDF.
