I might actually play this again. My players who are about to finish Reign of Witer have been talking about playing vigilantes. We'll probably only have three players left, but they are thinking about adding some sidekicks. Might actually work out.

Oh man, I am late to this party! But I am so excited for this, even though I already played through it in 3.5, I will happily repurchase this to own it with PF rules!
I was hoping you guys would do another remaster after Rise of the Runelords! Maybe in 4 years, we will see a Second Darkness compilation :)

A Second Darkness Hardcover would be cool (would love it if the PC's interaction with the accidental herald Thais was expanded upon and the whole adventure made more challenging for higher levels) but I'm looking forward to this one as well.
I'm actually wondering if this book will have rules included in it to make encounters better suited for six PC's playing the Adventure Path instead of just four. Or, if Paizo's staff ever gets the time and would like to consider doing it, maybe a hardcover / pdf detailing how to make some of the adventure paths better suited for six PC's instead of four of them?
Or has anyone actually retooled these adventures for six adventurers (or at the very least written a fan errata for it)?

Like its initial run, and as with all of our APs, Curse will assume 4 players. That's the baseline, and the more often we deviate from the baseline, the more confusing it gets for everyone to adapt to their game. Kind of defeats the whole point of a baseline to deviate like that.
Feedback from folks who have adjusted the AP for fewer or more players here on the boards is the best we can offer, and in fact considering the fact that there's a lot more of you than us doing this, it's BETTER than we can offer.

Agreed a Vigilante would make more sense.
What I am actually hoping for is more traits! I like the current traits very much, but I wish there were ones that lent themselves to more opportunistic and immoral characters.
Well, it's been a while since you asked this, and now that I'm copy fitting the introduction to the book... it looks like there's room for at least one new trait. Perhaps two! So, expect at least one that will indeed lend itself to more opportunistic or immoral characters!

I may have spoken too soon... I might have to cut it after all if the "Book References" sidebar is too big.
Bleh. This is why I should learn not to talk about things until they're done, I guess.

It is understandable, we all jump the ahead of ourselves atleast once,
but it does give the community something to talk about.

How likely is it that the Justicar prestige class might be upgraded to the Pathfinder rule set? Was the Spherewalker upgraded in the RotRL hardcover?
The spherewalker wasn't upgraded in the RotRLAE, and it's unlikely that the justicar will be updated here, especially since it wasn't actually used in the AP (to the best of my knowledge).

Both of these prestige classes had nothing at all to the with the adventure path in whose volumes they were published, they were just part of the deity articles that were part of these volumes. If Paizo had intended to update them, I guess Inner Sea Gods would have been the place to find them, but it seems Paizo has no interest in bringing these prestige classes to the Pathfinder RPG. The is probably true for the chevalier from Pathfinder Adventure Path #14.

No biggie.
I would be very interested in a pawn set and a few flipmats (maybe one for every two chapters with key locations in like Castle Korvosa and Scarwall?)
Are any support products planned for this year?
Thank you for updating this great campaign! :-)

I found something interesting. I went to the Amazon Pre-order page
CotCT Preorder page on Amazon as of 6/21/2016
And found the following information
About the AuthorJames A. Jacobs (San Francisco, CA) is chief hydrogeologist at Environmental Bio-Systems, Inc., has more than 20 years of environmental geology experience. He is the co-author, with Stephen Testa, of "Oil Spills and Gas Leaks".
Stephen M. Testa (Sacramento, CA) is executive officer of the California State Mining and Geology Board and past-president of both the American Institute of Professional Geologists and the American Geological Institute.
F. WESLEY SCHNEIDER has published countless gaming products for both "Pathfinder" and "Dungeons & Dragons", and is a former assistant editor of "Dragon" magazine. "Bloodbound" is his first novel.
Greg A. Vaughan is a freelance writer who has written several adventures for Dungeon Magazine.
I had no idea James Jacobs was hydrogeologist, much less the current chief hydrogeologist at Environmental bio-Systems, Inc.
Even more interesting is that Stephen M. Testa is the co-author.
Is this some mistake of Amazons, or are there many parts of Mr. Jacob's life that I had no idea about (well, granted, there ARE many parts of Mr. Jacobs life I have no idea about nor should I have an inkling of, but the portions above sort of are things I'd have thought I'd have realized...but perhaps I did not).

Weird. That's a different James Jacobs, and I'm not sure who "Stephen M. Testa" is at all. Looks like Amazon's drunk again. AKA: It's an error on Amazon's part.

And he and his best friend Steve wrote a book about incontinence and flatulance it seems - "of oil spills and gas leaks". :-D

FWIW, I really like the fact Paizo are willing to give us a 'behind the scenes' look at what goes on from time to time. Even if it does mean that occasionally things shift around.
I'd never have thought of "We had to drop a couple of traits because the Book Reference sidebar was too big" as a reason for the omission.

While I understand the urge to avoid predicting anything that isn't set in stone, I just want to say that as a customer, the fact that you are willing to disclose tentative updates on development and then admit you made a mistake gives me a lot of confidence in you and your company. In fact, it gives me more confidence than if you were completely silent just to maintain the appearance of a perfect track record of predictions.

I don't know if it has mentioned earlier, but roughly which book is the new Grey Maiden dungeon roughly in? I have run my CoCT group up to the beginning of Book 3 and was wondering if I should slow down until September/October to fit it in.
Otherwise can't wait!
It's chapter 3 of book 4.

CorvusMask wrote:Just kinda realized that besides that I'd like a player's guide for handout purposes, it would really be nice to have new campaign traits because old campaign traits are essentially five different possible backgrounds .-. I know APs are designed for 4, but I prefer to have 6 players in case one or two player can't make it to session, so would be nice to have 6 different possible backgrounds from traits.
You might be interested to know that the Varisia sourcebook (Player Companion line) has two new campaign traits for CotCT, one of which is related to Lamm like the five original ones in the CotCT player's guide. With that one you would indeed have six "background" campaign traits.
Incidentally, the Varisia sourcebook also has two new campaign traits for each of the RotR, SD, and JR APs, plus a brief run-down of the seven campaign traits which were introduced in full in the Shattered Star player's guide.
Speaking of the Varisia sourcebook, is there any chance that the two-page map spread can be combined into a single page, like the center sections of Bastards of Golarion and People of the Sand? The way the Varisia pdf is currently laid out, I couldn't make my Acrobat reader show both pages of the map at once.

Bellona wrote:That cover art ... I really miss that picture of her in the green dress. She looks too much like a BBEG on this version of the new cover. She still owns that green dress, but she IS a BBEG so that's kinda the point... the image is NOT from her at the start of the campaign, but closer to the end.
And yeah, that does mean, to a certain extent, that the cover is something of a spoiler, but it's a necessary one so that players aren't going in completely blind.
There's certainly such a thing as keeping TOO many secrets from your players, and teasing them with certain plot elements is good to build excitement. I mean... the TITLE of the AP pretty much informs anyone that something bad is going on with the throne, so it's hardly a huge step in logic to realize that the person who SITS on the throne might be part of the problem.
But yeah... the fact that the queen is the BBEG of Curse of the Crimson Throne is not really meant to be a "shock" or "surprise" at all. The sooner the PCs catch on to that, in fact, the better. In fact, if the players assume she's bad at the start, they may well be put off and confused by the initial scene in which she appears; that first scene is more or less built to make her seem somewhat sympathetic, after all.
I don't WANT my players to know what they're getting into. The big "Reveals" are, IMHO, a huge part of the fun and suspense of being a player. So I intend to invest in a plain brown-paper-bag book cover (ala high school textbook style) and to type out basic traits and a "Welcome to Korvosa" guide as a player hand-out with excess information deleted. I like the players to find out the big Mysteries as they go along.

I'm not sure that i like the new look or name.
The Rise of the Runelords Anniversary Edition looks much better.
That said, i am going to buy this.
The title seems to suggest that this is the first, but not last, of Adventure Path collections.
I know - we won't getting a Second Darkness or Legacy of Fire APC anytime soon (if ever), but maybe a Kingmaker or Carrion Crown one? ;-)

I usually don't comment much in our product threads, but I just spent the last 2 days preparing the PDF documents and I am personally just blown away. Sarah, her team, and our artists really outdid themselves :)
