Pathfinder Pawns: Monster Codex Box

So far all of the Box pawns have been reprinted, so this will probably be no different. Best to nab the Villain Codex Box while it's fresh though. ;)

We'll get to it, but between now and November, we've already got the Strange Aeons Pawn Collection, the Heroes & Villains Pawn Collection, the Traps & Treasures Pawn Collection, the Starfinder Core Pawn Collection, the Starfinder Alien Archive Pawn Box, and reprints of the Bestiary Box and the NPC Codex Box.

I also second the reprint of this box. I wish to buy it, but can't seem to find it anywhere... Please Paizo!

Sorry, folks—we have determined that the rate of sales for this product combined with the relatively high minimum quantities required to print a boxed product of this nature make reprinting this unfeasible. (In plainer English, if we reprinted it, we wouldn't make our money back anytime soon.) If we ever find a way to reprint it more economically, we'll revisit it.

Would it help at all to drop the box and bases and rerelease the pawns in the "collection" format? (I'm presuming the difference in shipping costs to you would be significant).

Or is it solely a matter of rate-of-sales?

Yeah, I honestly don't care about bases either. I've got so many of them already from my other sets.

Yeah, all I really need are the sheets of punched, printed images. I have no way of replicating printed cardboard.

Bases are easy to find. And they don't need to come in a storage box, either

Instead of repackaging it as a single unit, how about dividing them up by creature type and releasing them as several "collection sized" releases with 8 sheets of pawns? You could sell the heck out of those. Especially an undead collection. I personally have an encounter coming up that requires more than a hundred. A collection like this would be a godsend.

That would never happen. Best to buy the sets as released rather than hope for some other odd combination. Pawns sets are all trending to sell out.

I'm surprised this isn't a bigger seller, at least enough to justify another reprint. So far, the only thing I haven't had use for, or expect to use in the near future, are boggards, bugbears, ratfolk, sahaugin, and vampires. And I've only run a few modules and parts of 4 APs.

We've determined that reprinting this is unworkable in any form. (The PDF will continue to be available, so there's always the option of printing them at home and gluing them to other pawns...)

Lesson learned: if you think you'll like a Paizo item, buy it fast.

If you are in or near the Twin Cities region of Minnesota The Source has a couple on their shelves.

I would also like to see a reprint of this. I know it has been addressed just voicing it. Just starting out and a few extra basic tokens like goblins, orcs, drow, etc., would really help build a pretty versatile starting toolbox of the more familiar fantasy monsters for early adventures.

For now though I guess maybe Beginner's Box is the best for mass goblins?

If you're stuck printing out the pdf, rather than gluing them to other pawns, here's my suggestion:

Grab some chipboard off amazon: Link
(That's the kind I bought, it works well, but there's several options on Amazon, so feel free to shop around)

Grab some full-page label sheets: Link
(Again, that's just the kind I use)

Print the pawn pages onto the sticky labels, stick them on the chipboard, and voila. They won't be quite as nice as the professionally printed pawns from paizo, but they hold up well to casual inspection.

You can also use the same raw materials to make custom pawns out of your own art, or art from the internet. Just use your favorite photo editing software to get your image the right size.

Please forgive me for being suspicious but the only reason I think for not reprinting this product is because it makes the rest of your products less useful, which I would understand.. but I can not picture this product not selling well, sorry.

This, by default, should be one of the first boxes a Group/GM should buy.. how come this product has not sell well?

This is not a professional answer, Mr. Wertz. I could understand you trying to give us a "way out" of this problem. But it hurts. Deeply.

It's that it did not sell well. It's that it didn't sell well enough to warrant an another print run with the same size and with keeping the ROI at the same or similar level. If you can spend money on reprinting a product that will earn you X or a product that will earn you 1/2 X and neither is a core product, you reprint the former.

Vic's answer was fully professional. It's just the fact that you are so emotionally invested in the topic that made his professional answer hurt your feelings. Step back, take a breath, don't treat paper pawns like they were some core element of your existence.

As there won't be additional runs of this product are there any guides or tutorials on printing/cutting/gluing Pawns?

I am willing to try this but I would like a hand from the more craft focused community members as my attempts have gone terribly.

If someone around the GTA finds a copy please buy it for me. I'm in Burlington and I'll drive two hours for it provided that no despicable profiteering is going on... :)

If this product will truly not be reprinted, how about printing a new set as part of the ongoing pawn subscriptions that is not a box set, but offers depictions of many of the humanoid monsters and variant poses/subclasses that are generally lacking from the bestiary sets?

For the record: I love the fact that Paizo is willing to explain business decisions to its customers, and does so without apologizing for the fact that businesses need to make a profit. I learn something each time. Most companies wouldn't bother, and frankly, I wouldn't criticize them for that decision -- it's tiring to have to justify yourself to people who know less about your business than you do.

This is so disappointing...I didn't have the money to buy this when it was still out and now that I have a steady job I can only get the physical copy for around $600 online last I could even find them. I've seen the cost-cutting suggestion of printing without bases, would only printing one side be an option? If anything it could add more use to the pawns to indicate what direction the monster is facing. Idk man, I just want to give Paizo my money!

Wow, $600? That's absurd.

Well, on the brighter side, you don't need this exact product to run any module or AP. You can always get more ghouls and goblins and orcs from other products. It's rougher when something like an AP pawns goes OOP, because it's gonna be a pain putting together something that looks like the Scorched Hand from Mummy's Mask from pawns that aren't really them. By and large, this box is just generics instead of specific characters, so if one product had to go OOP, I'd rather it be this.
