Damn you, Mairkurion. Damn you to a leafy hell. :D
And pray tell, what sort of monsters would live in this "leafy hell" of which you speak?

Am I right that there will be no Div and asuras in the bestiary 2?
:(
You are correct.
When we compiled the monsters for reprint from Pathfinder APs into Bestiary 2, we instituted a cut-off volume of #19—we didn't want to reprint stuff that was TOO new, and by doing this we also narrowed the amount of choices we had to make as to what was in and what was not. Since the majority of the divs came along AFTER #19, that means they get to wait (probably for Bestiary 3, if we do that).
And further, there's already a HUGE slant toward outsiders in Bestiary 2; rounding out the other outsider alignment races (daemons, inevitables, aeons, proteans, agathions, qlippoth, and a few more devils, demons, angels, agathions, and azatas) made for a pretty overwhelming amount of them. Adding one more race would have been way too much, and would have left too little room for the other monster types.
The good news is that we'll keep making hardcover Bestiaries as long as they're popular... which at this point, seems like it could be for quite a while!

OMG, Paizo statted out one of my fave bosses from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night- Scylla.
So, so awesome!
And from the preview linked upthread, the Symphony of the Night influence definitely shows in her art.
I wholeheartedly approve. :D
And judging from her CR, she's going to be quite a bit more badass than she was there.

Word, broheim. She was so weak, compared to how unique and awesome a boss she was.
Amazing job with her, Paizo.
Now let's see Galamoth and Granfaloon/Legion! :p

I'm tempted to ask when this book and PF 40 arrive for UK subscribers because I'm going on holiday (vacation) at a point in January. If they turn up beforehand, great, and if not then I'll have a nice surprise to get back for! Besides, I'm planning to take book 13 of the Wheel of Time with me, and that'll take a while to get through! :D

Does this mean we get official stats for every creature in the AP 1-18?
Also I notice with my shiny new AP#39 that some of the monsters referenced are from the TOH. Does that mean that they are in the Bestiary 2 also?

Any chance of finding out who wrote the fetchling, jyoti, and sceaduinar?
They have been dear to me since the RPG Superstar contest last year, and I'm just curious (in a non-snarky way) about who got the honors.
I'm not sure who wrote them... but the way we build these books, most of the monsters go through a relatively significant amount of in-house tinkering and rewriting. The final result you see on the page is more a product of multiple authors than most of our projects as a result.

Nope. Just updated stats for the ones we wanted to put into Bestiary 2. If a monster got "left behind" it might show up in the "Inner Sea World Guide" or in Bestiary 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or so on.
AP #39 came out before Bestiary 2, so if one of those monsters is in both the ToH AND the Bestiary 2, we would have cited them as coming from the ToH. Once Bestiary 2 is out (or at least within a month of it coming out) those monsters will instead be referenced to Bestiary 2.

I should be looking at early January?
We've set the retail release date at December 29.

One of the players in my 3.5e game plays a druid and likes to transform into a dire weasel too.
I hadn't noticed the absence of it in PRPG until it was pointed out.
Monsters whose absence go unnoticed until someone points that absence out are not strong contenders for reprinting.
Additionally, without a legitimate oversized weasel from the fossil record, we're VERY unlikely to carry the dire weasel forward in any official capacity. We're more likely to at some point do up stats for a giant weasel, I guess. Semantics, to a certain extent, but semantics are pretty important when it comes to language and words and editors and all that...
All right... time to build me a dire weasel animal companion. *Hikes up homebrew trousers*

The Bestiary 2 Poster is now available!
Hmm. It appears to depict 257 different monsters. I thought there were 300+ in Bestiary 2? Did one of every six monsters fail to show up for picture day?

I would assume there are variants that don't have art.

Well cool, Boss!
I can think of no one better qualified and well suited. I applaud your leadership. I feel good about the decisions made here.
EDIT: And.. I applaud YOU SIR. (had to throw that in there)
And yeah, I'm suckin' up, as all would-be freelancers are wont. :)

Ya know, I'd be willing to bet that the jyoti and sceaduinar are actually aeons. I recall reading somewhere that aeons were dual-natured, and what's more dual-natured than beings of pure positive and negative energy?
Don't make that bet.
Jyoti and sceaduinar are not members of any race but their own.

I know exactly what you mean! Though I am sad my favorite little geometric freaks won't join the fun, but I can live with it.

While there are many exciting entries in this and I'll possibly take the day off work when it arrives, I'm disappointed that none of the Kingmaker monsters are in here. I take it that they were finished too late to be included?
On the plus side I can just start getting excited about the Bestiary 3 now!

Basically as James mentioned they decided that the cut off was going to be the first three Adventure paths. That certainly does not include the Kingmaker set.. sorry sir :)

None of the Kingmaker monsters are in there.
Of course... if you have Kingmaker, that doesn't matter all that much, since you've already GOT them for the Pathfinder rules.
Whether Kingmaker will make the cutoff for Bestiary 3... and indeed whether or not we MAKE a Bestiary 3... we're not yet gonna say.

The updated rules for chained spirits have to go somewhere. :)
Yeesh. Heaven help the poor guy tasked with cutting down the chained spirit to a single page. That's one of those special cases where I'd figure a two-page spread is really needed.

I know trying to condense the belier devil to a page wasn't fun. And then it got *really* condensed for the final.

The list was missing a couple of the monsters from the poster when I looked at it but almost all of them are there.
