I have subscribed to Pathfinder RPG, Adveture Paths and Companions in the past but stopped. I have always found the subscriptions great value for money back in Pathfinders infancy.
While setting up a new RPG subscrition for the Ultimate Campaign book I was a little shocked by the $57.61 Price tag for one book plus shipping+handling. I know its expensive to ship outside US but this seemed rather high.
Upon checking my previous book order (Advanced Race Guide) the shipping was only $13.60 compared to the $19.97 (-$2.35 discount)
Total Price after conversion for the subscription for me comes to £37.12 based on current exchange rates so I decided to check my local options.
RRP is £29.99 in UK for Ultimate Campaign - Amazon.co.uk offer Free Shipping.
PDF option is $9.99 which is £6.44
Total Price £36.43 a total saving of 69p
Now its not alot I know and certainly worth the cost for receiving the book and PDF early.
BUT, Amazon.co.uk are currently offering a Pre-Order Price Deal of £19.19!!!
Thats a Saving of £11.49!
I'm sorry to say this, but at that kind of saving, I can sure wait a couple of weeks to get my hands on the books. Perhaps its because of how popular Pathfinder has become that its now more commercially available.
Its a shame because I do like to show my support for Paizo but the subscription options just aren't worth it for non US customers anymore.

Add the cost of tearing your hair away over Amazon being 3 months late with the book :)
It hasn't been quite that bad for me since I started getting my hardcovers through Amazon UK (for the same reasons as the OP) but it's true that you shouldn't order through Amazon UK if you're in a hurry to get the book.

It's unclear to me what is actually on the subscription. It's pretty clear what is coming every month on the AP subscriptions, but planning for varying costs in a given month is something that I want to keep track of. Is there a list of upcoming shipments over the next couple of months? I assume that I can "bundle" ship all of my subscriptions when there are monthly shipments like I do with comics and APs.
Thanks,
Bill

The best way to keep tabs on what's coming in future months is via Paizo's catalog and schedule page. Things do move around from time to time, but they're generally pretty accurate within the next month or two.
.All paizo subscription products release on the same day each month (the pawns and miniatures are the only two subs which dont comply with this, being from different companies). Since you're also a comics subscriber, you'll have the option of keeping those until your monthly paizo shipment goes out or having the comics ship out as soon as they become available. Assuming you choose the 'hold for monthly shipment' option on your My Subscriptions page, everything will automatically be bundled up in one shipment, if that's the cheapest option. Occasionally, it's cheaper to split a large packet into two parcels and the shipping software should recognise that and do it for you.
According to the product schedule, there is the Bestiary 4 next month and nothing in November. Will that hold true or will there be something in November that hasn't been announced yet?
Thanks,
Bill
As a general rule, products are announced something like six months in advance (longer than that for the RPG line). I dont think there's ever been an announcement only a month or two before release.

I am new to Pathfinder (but familiar with DnD 2/3/3.5) and I am trying to wrap my head around this "ongoing subscription" offering. Since I am just getting started with Pathfinder, I think I would need to get the Core Rulebook and probably a few other books to have a good starting library. When I click on the Core Rulebook, down near the bottom of the description is a note that it is part of the Pathfinder RPG Subscription.
In reading up on the Subscription, however, it appears that it is only focused on new/upcoming product releases. I do not see anywhere in the Subscription description (try saying that 10 times fast) where it indicates that I will be (or can opt for) receiving the Core Rulebook or Beastiary or any of the other basic (or advanced) books that have already been released.
On top of that, one of the Subscription reviews mentions that part of the Subscription may wind up being small items that I may not want and there does not seem to be a way to opt out of these undesired products.
Am I missing something or not understanding what the Subscription is for? How do I receive my basic/advanced rulebooks and strategy guides via the Subscription -- or is that not what the subscription is for? Any clarification would be appreciated.

When you subscribe, you're basically telling Paizo that you want to put all future item in that product line (the RPG in this case) on preorder (and you can cancel it at any time). A subscription doesn't cover any items that were released prior to signing up for the subscription.
In your case, you'd need to buy the CRB and any other books that have already been released that you are interested separately.
(Since you're new here, it's worth mentioning that Paizo also publishes all their rules to the Pathfinder Reference Document on their website for free. Others are also allowed to post rule compilations.)
Welcome to Pathfinder!

Thank you very much for the feedback, Skeld. I had a feeling this was the case, but just wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before plunking down my dollars.
I have one more question that I hope you (or anyone, for that matter) can answer. Considering that, while I am new to Pathfinder, I am not new to RPGs in general and D&D 3.x rules in specific, is there any value in me purchasing the Beginner's Box as well as the Core Rulebook? Does it make sense to do the early-character leveling (levels one thru five) in the "basic rule set" of the Beginner's Box (akin to the original D&D) before transitioning them to the "full rule set" of the Core Rulebook (akin to the original AD&D) the way the Beginner's Box unboxing video describes, or would it be better/smarter to start with the Core Rulebook?

Solannis |
If you're already comfortable with 3.5 rules, then the Core Rulebook should be all you need. The Beginner's Box is an excellent tool to get new folks into the hobby, but is not really needed for the transition from 3.x
Hello Sniggevert. Thank you for your feedback. I know what I need to order now.

so i dont know if this has been covered but...if i get the subscription and get unchained will i have to cancel my current preorder of unchained?
Hi Christos,
When you start a subscription, you choose which item to start with, so our system will automatically put a new copy of Unchained into that order. If you do decide to start the subscription with it, just let us know and we can cancel your preorder.
Please note that we don't check these threads as frequently, so if you need for us to change your order the best way to contact customer service would be to email us at customer.service@paizo.com, post a new thread to our Customer Service Messageboards, or give us a call during our business hours. Our phone number is (425) 250-0800, and our phone lines are open M-F 10am-5pm Pacific Time.
Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime and I'll be glad to help out.
Thanks!
Katina

According to Erik Mona, it looks like Planar Adventures will be the last product of the PFRPG Ongoing Subscription line:
This makes me sad :(
I've been a subscriber to the PFRPG from the very beginning, and I doubt I'll continue with a PF2 subscription.
Thank you for the 10+ years of fun and memories, Paizo....

If we sign up for the subscription to start with the new 2.0 core rulebook, will we have the opportunity to sign up for the Adventure Path subscription and select to first of the Ashes Adventure Path as our start for that subscription?
If we did do that, would the Pathfinder Advantage discount kick in for that complete order that month? It seems clear that anything order after your first AP in your subscription is subject to the discount, but if the AP would ship out the same day as the core books for 2.0, it isn't clear if the core books would get the Advantage discount you are supposed to get by being on the AP Subscription.
I haven't ever done the subscription, but I am definitely considering it if it is simple and effective. But if I can't tell it, start me here at the start of the new edition, and get the discounts that seem like they would apply, otherwise it might be better to grab the specifics I know I'll want.

Yes pathfinder advantage applies to the order which includes the first AP volume you subscribe too. Unfortunately, you can’t see that when you place your order.
Whenever a subscription run occurs, Paizo send out an email listing what you’re going to get, what it costs and what the shipping charge is - so you definitely get a day or two to check it over and make sure you’re comfortable with what’s about to happen.
Generally, they send those “preauthorisation” emails on a Thursday and begin shipping on the Monday (or similar timeframes anyhow) so you do need to keep an eye on your emails around that time.
They always post a monthly thread with the relevant dates in the customer service forum. If you sign up for the subs, watch out for that sometime in July - the timelines will be clearly spelled out around then, I’d think.
Here’s the thread for March, currently spawning. As an example of the kind of thing you’ll see.

I'm looking to subscribe for the 2e release. When I add the Roleplaying Game subscription (for the core rulebook and the bestiary, not the AP sub) to my cart, it says that I will also get the Planar Adventures book from first edition, which I don't want or need. Is there a way to not get the Planar Adventures book when I sign up for the sub?

tacitfirefox |

Are you clicking the "start with this product" option up top or some other way?
I'm using the "Start with this product" button, which adds the subscription to my cart. Then in my cart, I see the radio button for the core rulebook selected. But underneath the Planar Adventures book, it says "Will ship with your next subscription shipment".

David knott 242 |

any way to order the deluxe edition's through a subscription?
No, that has never been possible. It wasn't possible with Starfinder or with the Pathfinder 2E Playtest and thus it most likely isn't possible for the actual Pathfinder 2E release.

I don’t quite understand what you’re asking - subscriptions are all automated. You’ve got a subscription to the rulebooks set up, but it won’t charge your card just for signing up, the system only raises a charge when a book ships.
If you have a payment method attached to your account, the subscription payment will process at some point by August the 1st - there’s a long window this month.
If you’re trying to add a payment method, you should be able to do so by going to your account and looking halfway down the page on the right for “my payment methods”.
If you’ve got an email from Customer Service saying your payment was declined then I’d give them a ring, if possible or barring that send them an email.

Calling Paizo is not in the cards as when they are open is confusing because of time zone foolery. I Emailed them twice thus far, with no answer, and this is the only way I can figure to get ahold of them.
My card was declined when the credit available was less than the charge, but I paid into the card and it is ready to go, but there is no way to get it to pay the charge as far as I can tell. I can't put the sub into the cart, and the Pending order has no way to pay for the materials on the current order other than wait and hope.

Ah, gotcha. You will need them to unfreeze your order and process it on their end.
My experience suggests that email is the slowest. Id also post a thread in the CS forum if you havent already - thats second best (though still slow around gencon time).
My google defaults to "what timebis it in seattle right now" so I get the timezone issue.
I'll flag these last few posts as well - thats a sneaky way to get CS attention! Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon.

Here is a website where you can coordinate between two different time zones. The example used is London. Just substitute in yours and Bob's your uncle.

One subscription will get you all three of the books (and PDFs) presently in the Start Your Subscription box if you choose to start with the Core Rulebook, just the Bestiary and Gamemastery Guide (and PDFs) if you choose to start with the Bestiary, or just the Gamemastery Guide (and PDF) if you choose to start with the Gamemastery Guide.
If you choose to start with the Core Rulebook, your CRB and Bestiary will ship soon; you won't get the Gamemastery Guide until it comes out in January. If you choose to start with the Bestiary, you'll get it now and the Gamemastery Guide in January. If you choose to start with the Gamemastery Guide, you'll get nothing until January.
The only way to get the PDF free with the book is to subscribe while the book is available in the Start Your Subscription box. For instance, after the Gamemastery Guide comes out in January, you'll only be able to start your subscription with the Gamemastery Guide or the next book (Advanced Players Guide, I believe) and can no longer get the CRB or Bestiary with the free PDF.
Once you've subscribed, you'll get all future books in the rulebook line with a free PDF when they are released, unless you cancel your subscription.
