  • A free PDF version of each release shipped as part of your Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription
  • Your free PDF unlocks discounts through Paizo Connect at participating Paizo licensed partners, such as Demiplane, Hero Lab, Fantasy Grounds, and Roll20.
  • The Pathfinder Adventure Path is one of the subscriptions which can help you qualify for the Paizo Advantage, a 15% discount on tens of thousands of gaming items from Paizo.com! More details about Paizo Advantage can be found here.

By starting a Pathfinder Adventure Path subscription, each release will be automatically bundled with any other Paizo subscription items you're subscribed to that are releasing in the same month. Been using the subscription for years now

5/5

the easiest and frankly economical way to get my Pathfinder fix. The discount from the adventure path, the subscribers advantage and the 10 discount on shipping over 100$ makes this a no brainer. I see myself being a subscriber for many years to come.

Value, value, value

5/5

I started subscribing with the release of Kingmaker and have not been disappointed. With 25 years of gaming experience to draw from, I've found the AP subscription to be among the very best RPG products out there. Each issue is packed with an incredible amount of useful goodness, all for less than 20 bucks (including shipping). Content generally includes a 50ish page adventure wth a bunch of additional material (e.g. description of a region, mini-bestiary, new rules, short stories, etc). Highly recommended!

The subsciption that changed the face of gaming

5/5

At least it did for me. Ages back I took a chance with this product when the first issue of "Rise of the Runelords" began. Since then I have looked forward to checking my mail. Each book contains a portion of a massive plot arc that advances players 3 levels (so book one takes you from level 1 to the start of level 4, book two from level 4 to level 7 and so on). After the adventure path portion you will find an in depth look at some portion of the Pathfinder RPG that pertains to the adventure path, be it a detail on a particular god or location. Up next is a delightful story written by a member of the Pathfinder Society, then a mini bestiary.

If that was everything, then it alone would be worth the subscription cost. But like an infomercial at 3am, they do not stop there. You get it all at a discounted 30% off, and they throw in a free pdf AND 15% off other purchases. Seriously, click and subscribe right now.

Got my first issue and I'm pleased with it.

I'm going to give this a try for at least a year. I'm curious about where they're go with these character they're introducing.. Valeros, Seoni, etc.

I got my first issue and it looks great! But I did not get a copy of the Player's Guide to Rise of the Runelords! I want the player's guide!

It was only free to Charter Subscribers—people who signed up for ongoing subscriptions (not just converted from Dragon or Dungeon) before mid-August. But you can download a free PDF, or purchase a print copy.

aww....the emails only said subscription and right next to my name it says 'Subscriber' no where did it say 'charter' subscribers only! nor did it say that transition subscriptions didn't count!!

I'd like to see that e-mail—as far as I know, our messaging was consistent on the point that you had to sign up for an ongoing, non-transition subscription. Before the first volume went out, we even sent out an e-mail to all subscribers who hadn't yet begun ongoing subscriptions specifically to remind you of that fact and offer you a last chance to get in before the deadline.

If I'm not really interested in Pathfinder 1- 6 (great look, just not an adventure hook for my group), can I "hold" my transition issues (from my Dungeon Mag Subscrip) until Pathfinder 7 -12 ?

Thanks (in advance) for answering!

I have seen the Pathfinder and GameMastery Modules subscriptions as a great deal since the beginning, but a friend just pointed something out to me: with the low, less that $4 combined shipping cost, discount on Pathfinder, and FREE PDFs, I'm getting roughly $56 in products for less than $27--more than a half-price discount.

Another way to look at it, with shipping, I pay about $31 a month for both products and get the PDFs free as a subscriber bonus.

Paizo could choose to charge subscribers full price for the extremely-valuable PDFs, to the tune of $23.

Since they don't (for subscribers), I see it as a $23 discount.

Which means I'm paying about $8 a month for the whole thing.

That's a pretty sweet deal.

Are the pathfinder books sent in cardboard boxes/packaging so they arrive in mint shape or are they sent in envelopes or worse yet like the magazines?

They are sent in heavy cardstock envelopes, much like a FedEx overnight package would be sent in. Your mail carrier would have to try to bend one of these things.

If you have your subscription set to ship via USPS, then each volume will be shipped in a stiff cardboard mailing envelope that protects the book pretty well. The damage reported so far has been from postal carriers who have deliberately bent the stiff envelope to fit it in a mailbox. However since the shipment of Pathfinder #1, we have increased the size of the "Do Not Bend" notice on the front to counteract this.

If you choose a UPS shipping method, then each book will ship in a cardboard box.

Thanks,

Okay, I admit I have not searched too hard for this answer, but thought it important to ask before I start spending money. If I were to purchase a Pathfinder subscription today (which is most likely going to happen), will it start with #1, or do I need to purchase that one as well? I am guessing it will start with #2, and I need to get #1, but if it can start with #1, then I am happy!

Scarab Sages

While you will be in the process of your subsciption, you will be asked with which volume you want it to start. I'm pretty sure you will at least have the options of "current volume" (which is probably PF#2 since it started shipping, or maybe it's still PF#1) and "next volume" (which will either be #3 or #2, depending on the previous option).

Now, I'm not sure if you would get other options, especialy "first volume". You might want to "simulate" subscibing, just to see which are the option available right now. Otherwise, drop an e-mail to customer service for more exact information.

To webmaster/person-who-updates-descriptions-of-products: It could be usefull to have the current available options listed in the descriptions of the subscriptions. Along with mention that the final choice will happen in the buying process.

When you start a subscription (ANY subscription) with us, you will have the choice during the checkout process of whether you want the subscription to start with the current volume (that is, the one most recently shipped) or the next volume (the next one to ship). Any volumes previous to the current one will have to be purchased individually and will not be part of your subscription.

Since we are now shipping Pathfinder #2, that means that any Pathfinder subscription created now will either start with volume #2 or volume #3. Volume #1 will have to be picked up separately.

This is a very good suggestion and we will look into the feasibility of doing this as soon as we have all Pathfinder #2's out the door. Thanks!

Thanks,
cos

OK, based on this comment I went and started a subscription at Volume #2 and purchased Volume #1 separately. That was on October 4. On October 5 I get my usual This Week at Paizo email. In there I find the following bit in the section describing Volume #2:

This Week at Paizo wrote:
New Pathfinder subscribers can always choose to start their subscription with either the current volume or the previous volume, so until we begin shipping Pathfinder #2, you can still choose to start your subscription with Pathfinder #1—Rise of the Runelords Chapter 1: Burnt Offerings, and score yourself a 30% discount and a free PDF of each volume. Once we start shipping Pathfinder #2, Pathfinder #1 will only be available at the full retail price.

This seems to say that I still had a chance to get Volume #1 as part of my subscription. It's a tad annoying to be told two different things on two different days, especially after I had already placed my order. I would have much rather started at Pathfinder #1, to be perfectly honest. Seems someone dropped the ball here.

Pathfinder #2 is currently shipping, so...

Also, the next time you use the words "ball" and "dropped" in the same sentence, I'm going to be forced to make some crude puberty jokes... consider yourself warned.

Like I said, or at least like I implied, if it was already shipping when the This Week at Paizo email was sent out, then they should not have told people they could still get Pathfinder #1 as part of the subscription.

The weekly e-mail is a compilation of the daily store blogs. I try to remember not to let anybody say anything super time-sensitive there for exactly this reason, but I let that one slip through. At the time the original blog was posted, Pathfinder 2 hadn't started shipping, but by the time the e-mail went out, it had. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

What are the shipping costs?
They are not listed in the product description anywhere.

Scarab Sages

I guess you'll have to "simulate" to buy it to know the shipping cost for you.

I guess they don't mention shipping cost in the description because there are several shipping options available, and the costs vary depending where you live in the world.

That's correct. Just add the subscription to your cart, and start checking out. Once you provide your address, you'll be able to see the shipping options (and that happens before you commit to the purchase, so you can always change your mind).

Hello, I'm interested in starting a subscription to Pathfinder. If I were to sign up today, what would be my first issue? If the subscription starts with the next avaiable issue (which I believe is #4), am I eligible to receive the back issues at the same 30% discount and recieve the free PDF? Thank you for your assistance.

Issue #4 has already been shipped to the subscribers in December. Issue #5 will ship mid-January. Upon signing up for the subscription you should be able to choose, with which issue it shall start... #4 or #5.

You can choose to start with either the most recent volume or the next upcoming volume. Today, that means you can choose between 4 and 5—but 5 should be arriving in our warehouse this week, and once we start shipping it, you'll be able to choose to start with either 5 or 6.

Free PDFs and subscriber discounts are not retroactive benefits, so they wouldn't apply.

Um... When does PF 6 come out, Vic? Just wondering.

Greetings.
While the Pathfinder softcover books I received are excellent, I have chosen not to use them or future issues in my campaigns. I originally selected ongoing subscription, but I do not want to have to log in each month and remove the automated addition to my cart of the monthly Pathfinder. In other words, I would like to terminate my ongoing subscription. How do I do this, please? I haven't found anything on the site that indicates how I might.
Thanks.

You can email customer service and ask them to cancel it, or you can post in the customer service subforum and they should help you shortly.

P.S. It's not, strictly speaking, a magazine.

Interesting post there Vic. "Cancel at anytime." you say? Then how come on my account there is no "Cancel Subscription" button? How come I can change my name, my address, even my billing info, but there is NO cancellation option available?

Well it's quite obvious. Because once you get us into a recurring subscription you want to make it as difficult as possible to cancel the subscription.

Well if I have to delete my credit card I will get out of the subscription and NEVER subscribe to ANYTHING Paizo sells again.

Not at all happy with your subscription service,

You can just email them at Customer Services - they are very responsive. Or post here in the relevant thread. No need to get hot and bothered.

Though I agree that such a button would probably be a good idea.

But Aubrey, that would ruin the conspiracy theory the guy’s got going.

'As difficult as possible' would be AOL, which was known to continue sending bills long after customers cancelled and even moved. Needing to explicitly ask for a cancellation, however, is standard practice. I agree that there should be a button, but I don't plan to cancel anytime soon. And if I do, I know that all I need to do is ask Cos, and he'll take care of it right away.

You will not be charged for anything you did not receive. For editions you were sent, I think you still have to pay.

Just send an email to customer.service@paizo.com and they'll take care of you.

I´m very interested in a subscribtion. I ordered all the previous volumes I missed and just got them yesturday. Now I´m wondering if I subscribe now, would I recieve the pathfinder beginning at #7, because of my previous order. Or can´t that be cancelled because it was already shipped and I should just wait till #7 is mentioned as the current volume?

When you subscribe, you will be given the option as to which volume you want to start with: the current one or the next one.

At least, that's how it worked for me.

Can a subscription be backdated?

If I subscribe does the subscription start with Pathfinder #9 or #1?

Edit: OK forget that, I see the answer

Right now, you can start with Pathfinder 8 or 9. 9 is actually due in very soon, though, so if you'd like to start with 8, now's the time.

Can someone summarize the different Pathfinder products for me?

I'm only a casual gamer and it seems like every time I come onto this site, there's a new Pathfinder product. I used to love Dungeon magazine, and now it just seems like they've splintered off the different sections to squeeze more money out of people. Anyway, now that I got that rant out of the way...

I know the main Pathfinder magazine is like the Dungeon Adventure Paths, which I love.

The Pathfinder Modules look like the stand-alone adventures that were in Dungeon.

The Pathfinder Companion look like campaign setting guides for the main Pathfinder adventures?

But campaign guides look like they are also part of the Pathfinder Chronicles along with a bunch of other accessory items. What's the difference between the content material of Companion and Chronicles? I mean, how do the editors decide setting information should be part of Companion or part of Chronicles? Is the Companion material more vital to playing the Pathfinder adventures, and Chronicles just extra stuff not necessary to Pathfinder?

I don't understand why they don't just put all the campaign stuff of Companion and Chronicles together so I can get one subscription to that without the accessory items in Chronicles.

Chronicles was a kind of "catch-all" sub for things that didn't fit anywhere else. Companion is a new deal that is what the player's guides for the different adventure paths are moving to. It will also include player friendly setting info on other parts of the campaign setting (like Osirion, for example) and possibly good player related stuff like PrC's and Class Act like articles.

Chronicles happens whenever a products comes out - no set release schedule.

Companion will be bi-monthly when it starts.

Dark Archive

Chronicles seems to have more information about places (and creatures) in the campaign setting, while Companion will be geared more towards PC friendly information

That sounds good. I'm already getting Pathfinder. So I'll be sure to get Companion too when it comes out. Thanks for the info.

A few questions about subscriptions:

1)In which months do the new six month adventure paths start?

2)If I subscribe sometime between those months, can I request that the
subsrciption start retroactively with the first book in the current adventure path, or does that happen automatically?

3)What if I don't want my subscription renewed automatically on my credit card, but want to be notified when the time comes to renew it?
