im running a carrion crown campaign and finished the first book yesterday so the players went shopping. one of the players asked for a ring that could do something along the lines of what the OP asked.
we usually have 4 to 6 players and i do not do the 4 encounters a day scenario. usually if the party is going into a dungeon, they are finishing that dungeon in a single ingame day or 3 depending on if they leave to rest up and etc, which usually means more encounters because the areas they clear get filled back up depending on how long they are away and how far they go.
anyways sorry bout that, i came up with a cure light wounds ring (1d8+5) for 3k. 1 time a day outside of combat which can use the touch up to 6 party members to heal in a single cast or a single target inside of combat.
big enough price for very helpful at lower levels but would pay itself off (compared to wands/potions) before wanting to switch it out for better rings.

I started with beginners box and worked right into rotrl and the dragon escaped. What Ii did was replaced the red dragon with the black dragon.
Okay, throwing together a one shotter since full group won't be able to get together today.
I'm basically having them play out the short story Jerusalem Lot. So if u haven't read this very old short story and don't wanna be spoiled, read no further. Not my fault lol. Gonna have 3 lvl 3 character and one of them (unless they all related) has inherited a mansion in Ustaluv near a small town of Preachers Corner.
I have the mansion drawn up with all the secret rooms taken care of. I need advice in how much and what kind of loot should be found in the mansion. I'm usually horrible at distributing loot.
Also I'm using 2 creatures in the walls and gonna use maybe a haunt or 2,any suggestions? I was thinking of making them vampire spawn (minus energy drain) or ghouls.
Whatever I use for in the house, I was gonna use them for the abandoned town church scene. I have created a dhampir elder mythos cult cleric as the bbeg. I was thinking of using something for a fear effect every 1d4 rounds for the worm. Also dunno if I will have them fight it, was thinking more of using it as a end game "peek a boo" moment at the end. I let the dice roll as they roll, but I'm not sure what to do about that. If it's something they fight, I want it beatable. If it's just a "get the **** outta there and don't look back and run mutha***" I'm wondering what to use?
I appreciate the advice in advance for GMing this.

You can drown a troll or starve them to death and fast healing is just a cheap man's version of regeneration.
I will say craft-beer and it takes a week to make one gallon if u succeed the check. It is NOT a poisen because there are no stats or status changing located anywhere in the rules. Being drunk and drinking stat changes I've only seen as house rules.
I always figured the dragons big ass pile of gold it slept on was its component pouch and the reason why it didn't need eschew materials feat
I'm gonna say that yes u can free/swift action before/during/after a full round action UNLESS due to when and what type of action is used would interrupt the full round action.
Different types of full round actions and what would be okay to do during one type of full round action could not be doable in another type of full round action. Just have to individually judge if okay or not per type of full round action.
My 2 cents.
Rysky wrote: Um, no, the opposite, they have stated that it does, using Evil spells does indeed start shifting your alignment to Evil. They clarified that in Horror Adventures. Indeed but I think it's PFS play that rules that casting spells with evil descriptors don't count towards shifting ur alignment even though for regular play, that is what happens thanks to horror adventures. Have PFS changed their stance on that?
Or if they designed the spell with the intention of "evil" being used would shift ur alignment meaning that it might have intended for baddies to only use, that might explain why it's better and fit the theme of corruption like how people thought/still think or play.
Granted they've already stated that spells with evil doesn't do that, but before a lot of people thought that and was hands off for a lot of classes/players.

It is not allowed with retraining because u have to still have the prerequisites BEFORE and not from the prestige class.
When retraining was first introduced, these questions popped up and the devs came in and stated that the prestige classes did not count towards having the prestige classes.
I've always read it as a GM fiat that lets u use a created spell or a spell that thematic to the bloodline, or just any arcane spell that the GM okays.
This isn't added/extra spells that the sorcerer can learn, this would take the place of a spell u would have gained when leveling up.
I've seen it as a good way thru getting GM's okay (and NOT as something the GM has to bend knee to) to get a spell since wizards can basically get an unlimited amount of spells known thru spell books and whatnot.
I believe the main reason for the text was to give access to sorcerers thru GM permission to be able to cast spells that monsters/enemies had access to that players did not at the time such as "blood money" and such. A wizard would be able to have learn the spell simply by having it in a spell book but that would have given the wizard with even more goodies that the sorcerer by the rules would never have access to since they cannot learn from spell books or scrolls the same way a wizard does. This was a way to preemptively let the sorcerer stay on same page of wizards in those situations. Just my 2 cents.
Basically it's something u have to ask ur GM about and the book says it's okay if the GM chooses to.

Fonv
Morrowind (there's a mod that's a combination of several mods that's easy af to install)
Witcher 3
Pillars of eternity
Grim Dawn
Divinity original sin
ALL of the shadowruns (returns, dragonfall, Hong Kong) seriously this one, these RPGs have impressed and I thought was the most fun
I thought each round was the collections of everyone's turn until everyone's turn had happened?

Hazar :P
The Patron is Time, For Haste, Teleport, Disintegrate and eventually Time Stop should it get that far. Also fits that character in general.
The spell daze is mind effecting but the status and metamagic Dazed is not
Spell combat is a full round action (aka FULL round)
The free action u get to deliver the spell can only happen WITHIN the same round.
So full round and having to be within the same round, means it's gonna be part of spell combat if that spell ur getting the free action that has to take place within the round of the spell being cast. If u take it outside spell combat of the same round, then it's no longer a free action since spell combat is a FULL round.
dgood1 wrote: About #1. DD says I "add" my DD levels to my now available "effective sorceror levels", given to me by the VMC in Sorc.
However, now that you mention it, not having actual sorc levels puts up the alternative, giving me both "effective sorceror levels" and "sorceror levels".
This STILL gives me a redundant source of Bloodline powers though, since I get them from both VMC Sorc and DD. I just don't get them as early.
I get my Level 1 Bloodline Power at level 3 with any class, then I get it again on my first level in Dragon disciple, because I now earn a bloodline, and have a new DD based sorc level sorc.
========
The word "instead" inside Blood of Dragons will make it annoying though, since that means I can't use the first sentence that allows me to "add" eff Sorc levels "if I don't have Sorc levels".
I get 2 separate sets of Sorc levels, that will confuse everyone without actually being a sorc.
I feel like that line is if u was doing normal multiclassing (basically being a legal widely accepted version of the benefit ur getting with VMC without having VMC) but since ur doing VMC it follows that instead. So even with 1 lvl of DD, ur VMC sorcerer would be level 9 and according to the. nc chart, uvwouldnt gain anything in sorcerer until lvl 11. By that time u would unlock the breath attack legally thru DD and would unlock a bloodline feat or eschew materials with ur sorcerer level.
That make sense?
So with the spell saying that u can WITHIN the same round u may touch as a free action to discharge. So with spell combat being a FULL round action, u wouldn't be able to take the free action OUTSIDE the full round action on the same turn because it's has to be within the same round.
With what ur doing, just go along as if the levels u have in another class besides dragon disciple are sorcerer even if they are not minus the extra spells.
1. I'm not understanding sorry this one, clarify a lil bit for me please. I don't believe DD lets u bypass the progression since u technically don't "have" sorcerer levels.
2. No. It just lets u continue gaining sorcerer levels in the background instead of stopping because ur not taking levels in the other class.
3. Yes and no. The damage is correct but u do not gain the extra breath attack until lvl 15
Maybe against npcs that have light sensitivity for a brief period of time.

Reason is for spell that ur using in spell combat cannot be delivered with a 2 handed. Casting a spell and using a 2 handed to deliver is fine, but not if that spell if the one ur casting in spell combat.
The point of the exercise is that those attacks are free actions taken outside of the Spell Combat full-attack action, so the restriction on the hand being free no longer applies, just like the restriction on 'hands of effort' doesn't apply for TWF in #2 after the full-attack action is finished.
And if you think the 'free hand' restriction lasts for the entire turn, that would invalidate #3 & #4 as well.
Thanks. [/QUOTE
I don't think delivering the first cast of the spell with the spell combat with spell strike in 6 is outside the full attack action though but part of it. I'm of the thought that the Melee attacks and casting AND delivering the spell with spell strike if in the same round is part of the full attack action of spell combat. Now u could hold the charge for next round and spell strike with a 2 handed it be kosher with me, but that's my reading of the rules. I maybe wrong though.
I'd say yes to all but 6 & 7.
Reason is for spell that ur using in spell combat cannot be delivered with a 2 handed. Casting a spell and using a 2 handed to deliver is fine, but not if that spell if the one ur casting in spell combat.
My 2 cents
Wield 2 handed as 1 handed- the weapon is one handed and str bonus/feats/abilities requiring 1 handed weapons work
Treat 2 handed as 1 handed- the weapon still requires 2 hands to use and retains the str bonus but can be used for feats/abilities requiring 1 handed weapon to work
Main difference between them is that wield let's u use it in 1 hand for ALL purposes, while treat as means it's still a 2 handed weapon using 2 hands but will work for feats/abilities requiring a 1 handed weapon.
Snowlilly, adding the .5 bonus doesn't make it a primary natural weapon. It states the primary. Just because u get the .5 damage additional doesn't make it a primary.
That's the crux of the matter.
Notice how magic fang is lacking the primary/secondary so it applies to monks IUS.
IF power attack was lacking the Primary wording, u would be correct. Since it specifically calls out primary, it's being specific and monks IUS isn't specific so it doesn't work.
Also some advice in playing the cleric, u could steal from temple of pharsma in ustalav. They have sects that believe in torture and mutilation because of how bad u have it in this life, ur next one will be better. Kinda like stocking up on credit for ur next life.
Summed up like this
Does the spell or effect work on natural attacks? If yes, u can use it on ius
Does IUS become a natural weapon under spell/effects? No
IUS just means if the spell/effect works on natural weapons (such as Magic Fang), a monks IUS is counted as a natural weapon to work BUT it doesn't BECOME a natural weapon, meaning you don't get the bonuses of having an actual natural weapon, it's still just ur monks IUS.
Yeah just saw the level requirement. Sigh. Mmmm
I went against sound striker because I overlooked applying to objects the level 3 one.
Talked with the group and so far it looks like the group is gonna be not the best well behaved group as far as morals so decided to go with a more johnny cash than Charlie Daniels vibe to fit more into the group.
So far this what I got.
Human flame dancer bard
Stats-dunno, we roll when we met up
Starting feats will be skill focus-perform strings (house rule) and eldritch heritage with arcane bloodline bonded object. Bonded item with my guitar.
Weapons will be a whip and a crossbow. I get to use the guitar as a weapon but as a masterwork improvised weapon.
What I have so far

With just 3 players, you'll not be able to sit back as much as you might want. Definitely plan to be able to contribute something meaningful to any and every combat (which a casting bard has a hard time doing against the undead ... ROTRL you said?)
I'm a bit confident in my other players, meaning I've gm'd over them before so I know they pretty knowledgeable in min/maxing a little bit. I believe the GM is gonna be having us play theatrical version. so most of the time enemies are grouped together and with the bombs and flurry of blows going on with me demoralizing/feigning opponents that I can, I think combat won't be so much of a challenge. But u do raise a good point I need to think on is being able to contribute when it hits the fan. If I can't support then I ain't contributing. More things to think on, tyvm :)
Sorry or late reply, been at work.
Wow! Really great helpful advice y'all! Ty soooo much :)
I'm gonna spend the afternoon checking and reading up on all of these.
So I talked with my friend at work, and so far it's just gonna be 3 people including myself.
His wife is gonna be an alchemist (dunno race/etc) and our other friend is going hungry ghost monk (think dhampir dunno for sure). My friend already named my bard Charlie Danials when he heard bard with a fiddle, so the concept of Charlie is basically a wandering gleeman who people think has a magical fiddle. It's bad but I kinda wanna play the cliche bard lol, so wanting to keep the flavor still around a bard (like staying back and playing the fiddle).I'm thinking I'm gonna be the face, the musician to keep things lively, and basically sit back and let the other players be better at what they do while still being able to pack a punch if I really need to (why the Sound Striker archetype looks a bit nice since it's not much but have some handy damage options).
Ok I'm gonna read up on these options and be back to get some advice with what I'll come up with. ty sooo much everybody. I'm so excited about this character :)

Okay so long time GM/DM and one of my players is taking a stab at GMing (yay!!!) and he's running rise of the runelords. I'm gonna be playing a bard (all time fav class) and I have an idea of a human bard fiddler who is more focused on Magic (support/damage) than mundane attacking.
Now this is this players first time gming so I don't wanna break his game, but any suggestions for spells and feats for me? So excited I get to play that I'm having a block in creating this character. Tyvm in advance :)
Also forgot to add that this character will most likely be the face/Magic user of the group.

I also remember the Clintons in office 20 years ago,. It wasn't anything like what you wrote. Every point you wrote was completely untrue. I mean that literally, everything you wrote was untrue. Vince Foster scandal
Travelgate scandal
Paula Jones scandal
FBI background scandal
Jorge Cabrera scandal
Monica scandal
1600 Ave scandal
Whitewater scandal
Cattle Money scandal
You know, just to name a few scandals. There's more of u need more.
Bill Clinton signing the Nafta/GATT bill that sent our companies overseas and hence started our economy collapse. U must have remembered our factories and etc being shut down and being sent overseas starting late 90s and early 200 right?
But that's right, none of that EVER happened and isn't true :)

End the idea of 'safe red states' and 'true blue states', which discourage so many people from voting.
That in itself doesn't end the two party system, but it means every vote in every state can make the difference to the final count.
Candidates have to speak for the whole nation, and can no longer fawn over a few swing states and tell the rest to piss up a rope.
And more people voting means more people interested in politics, means more people acting as checks and balances to keep the politicians honest, and keeping to their pledges.
That's brilliant

Hence why I removed immunity from my game and gave a +4 to that save.
Hopefully today my group heads into Harrowstone. Was thinking about having a mass dreams that foreshadows what's to await them inside without giving to much away and then have them awake and find a lot of the towns people gathered and worried about the place. Would that be to heavy handed?
As written what I am getting is that the golem natural weapons are treated as basically as epic weapon which is basically a weapon that ADDs up to 6 (1+1+1+1+1+1 lvl enchants etc) whereas to overcome all the DRs except epic has to be a straight number (1-5) weapon.
Epic weapons cheaper than a +5 weapon.
If makes sense, early morning
Undead isn't the only thing ur gonna be facing and the Druid will be useful for quite a bit of the campaign. Not against every enemy but tbh the first book is really the only one that focuses HEAVY on undead, but ud be lvl 3 or 4 by the end of it. Book 2-6, u will have plenty of chances to shine :)
I'll take a look at the class when I get home and offer some advice

Ok so hiding the journal and having it encoded has prevented my party from going straight into the prison and veered them more towards interacting with the town.
We have 4 people, a dhampir bard, dhampir draconic sorcerer, a half orc paladin, and a catfolk rogue. So they understood that they do stand out like a sore thumb so I'm half assing the respect chart, meaning just who they are they wouldn't be trusted so going off that and letting them roleplay to better or worse situations.
So far after 2 sessions and each one being 6+ hours long (great role players so happy with this new group ) we are getting Rdy to start day 4. This day they are being escorted by the sheriff up to the ruins that the professor lost his life and gonna use the slamming haunt at the very beginning or the scythe as a deterent of going in. Basically gonna ask if they know what they are to expecting inside this haunted prison, and with the info the priest gave on how to dispel the haunt of the murmuring fountain, maybe it will press them to research about the place.
So far they still have yet to capture the madman on the loose, had the town meeting yet, or researched any subjects yet. I'm thinking of having the mad man encounter on their next night if they don't go inside and then either have the town meeting the next night or have the players see the fires when they are at the prison at night time.
So far after the second day they have started having nightmares and each time someone has failed the save so while most of the party are having in and out nightmares but still getting rest while someone is either tired that day or exhausted.
Also I have been doing checks and having them either roll d4s or d6s to determine how many hours they are doing something, that way to keep the flow going and also having them being able to interact with the group instead of twiddling thumbs that whole day.
To those who are using the "per damage roll", I have a question. when a paladin lvl 10 with zero str reg attacking with a falchion smite evil a target who's evil, would the damage roll be 2d4+10 or would it be (1d4+10)+(1d4+10) for the way to figure out damage?
I believe it's 2d4+10
Why not make it a new rule for the next season? Everyone's starting brand new season with already new changes, why not implement it then? Do refunds for older characters, but for the most since it's a NEW season, u could implement it and it wouldn't be stepping on any toes right?
I too am enjoying and implementing it into my home games. Like Nefreet stated, it would add in the importance and "balancing" that magic has but no one seems to impliment of casting certain spells and ur alignment.
They already have a "no pvp" rule in PFS, so nipping players from trying to "trick" others into said actions wouldn't happen.

If u can handle that many, go for it. I would definitely be stricter on distractions and also find ways to spend combat up a bit on the players end.
Depending on the players, I would add more enemies to fights, make haunts a lil more dangerous, and play the bbegs smarter than normal.
Also thinking about with the major players at the end of the HoH book, since they technically are haunts, when describing how they come out, I'm thinking of describing the area around them changing and forming into the "nightmare version" from silent hill. Maybe that will kinda enforce that they aren't just the beings that they spawn as, but as actual haunts that have corrupted and enfestered. Maybe even play the music from silent hill 1 as well, but sounds a bit video gamerish to me lol.
Okay, so this is basically me putting my notes out for anyone who's trying to GM/DM this game. Seeing how I've gotten soooooo many ideas and advice from this board, this is me putting my notes out for anyone who wants to use or see and whatever.
Also mainly as a place for me to keep ideas organized or something.
Also some small tweeks.
The slamming door haunt, I'm thinking of having it go off as all the doors slam loudly and hard and the charecters feel the room shake from the impact a lil bit. Then the doors and walls will show a massive fire and many bodies burning beyond repair classing and frantically try to push themselves out to escape the fire. Basically the doors and walls will ripple and contort to show this scene, an image. Then have the balcony floor fall on them from above. Basically a haunt/trap in one.
The sheriff is going to have the journal (an idea from the boards as well, thank you for whoever posted it) and have the players try to earn it from him. The sheriff found it on his body and has been silently investigating (he's smart enough to know dealing and rooting out cultists is very difficult and dangerous to do) the professors death. Even though the sheriff begrudgenly accepted the professor as a great man, he also knew the professor would get hands on and directly a part In his work. Now while he respects the professor, he does not respect the type of people the professor would accompany. So players work towards gaining trust and force the players from even running straight into the prison.
Okay, well ive decided to change Kendra from an oracle to an undead bloodline sorcerer. Younger while traveling with her father, she had peeked into a dusty tome at a archeological site her, her father, and the people of the eye they meet in chapter 2. Runes activated and awakened the undead bloodline in her (making her, instead of the vampire) something important. Her father left the eye (or not really quit, just never went back) to take her away from being studied and maybe done away with if it had even the slightest chance of doing something important. So out of respect of equals have the eye stayed it's hand from engaging with Kendra. So since he never left them, he wanted to give back what was theirs, basically as a member he wanted to make sure all his affairs was in order so that he didn't hamper the Eye at all with his passing.
So to tie in with the vampires, the WW have kept Kendra safe and in the dark, life is usual ATM until they need her and she's being kept under tight watch. The vampires have caught wind of an important item the WW has being kept in THEIR city, so they have naturally went and forced their way in and captured said item. Now the WW is waging an invisible and silent war against the vamps to retrieve said item (so I can do the enemy of my enemy approach or still easily be able to do the "they vamps so kill them all and WW" approach as well).
Now I have decided further forshadow and get the group more closely invested, I e decided to make the ward and his wife a mighty fighter and a powerful sorcerer. The story remains the same but when the place catches on fire, the wife is hestarical over her husband down below that she's not fully comprehending what's going on and is screaming to let her out so she can save her husband. She sees a guard and its Gibs (u know I'm sorry, been drinking but I think I got this idea from the board and I'm pretty sure I did, so thank you for whoever posted it) and he's running to open the door. The ceiling falls and is burning and she sees Gibs trying to grab the pieces of wood on fire to get to her and the fire gets to high to fast. She's screaming to save her bc she must go to him and save him even though she's a lost cause and very evident that Gibs would have lost his life and still not been able to save her. Play it up that Gibs is very shaken and angry at his inability to save her and thus he's the angry violent lush he is now.
Now some advice. What spell would work as to let the party experience her memories? What bloodline would set her up with? I'm wanting to have her have the relax themselves (basically to be willing and have them forgo their saves) and cast her spell and have the party experience the memories from her point of view.
u could also check amazon. i just glanced over and some of it is pretty cheap if u dont mind used copies.
It's the multiple companions they could have is why it's banned. The action economy getting bogged down.

If it's JUST art, I wouldn't worry bout it imho. If it was magical, pinged evil, or was part of an unholy alter or something along those lines, I'd say ur good to destroy but otherwise, move along.
Granted then comes along the question, should u "protect" it if others decide to break it or burn the place down? Lol
She carries the Whisper of Souls. A unholy Glaive she wrestled from Zon Kuthon that corrupts people who wield it. (But has no effect on Shelyn). She is Purifying it.
