With the Fox deal complete, the Fantastic Four would be much easier to drop in to the MCU than the huge cast of the X-Men. Plus Skrulls are already in now. If there's time travel in A:E, that so quickly following the Snappening might be the cosmic signal/ripples that signals Kang, Annihilus, or even Galactus ("What the Hela is going on around C-53?!"). IMO, I'd be neat if post-Endgame, an interdimensional ship appears/crashes on the MCU Earth and the Fantastic Four disembarks at their new home. (Maybe that interdimensional voyage is "The Signal"?)

Whatever the crossover plot arc for Phases 4 & 5 is revealed to be, all I want* is the heroes to need the help of Victor Von Doom. A Doom whose origin isn't locked to the FF, but he is still obsessed with them, especially Reed.

(* OK, I still also want Tatiana Maslany as Veranke.)

Werthead is right, season 2 is better (and possibly weirder) than season 1. Lots of fun & funny homages to other pop culture, especially the Donner Superman stuff.

Tudyk is kicking ass, both as Dangerboat and as Mr. Nobody over in Doom Patrol (which is also weird and excellent, but in a completely different way than The Tick).

LoT is back tonight!

I thought the IDW comics reboot was at Hasbro's prompting.

Yeah, Micronauts, Rom the Spaceknight, M.A.S.K., and Visionaries are all under Hasbro's full control. There was an effort a couple years ago by Hasbro to incorporate them all into a shared universe with G.I. Joe and Transformers, but I'm not sure if that is still happening or not. (There were rumors that the remains/wreckage of the dead Decepticons from the Bumblebee movie would be the basis to spin off a M.A.S.K. film, but I'm not sure how much truth there was in that.)

Marvel does own most of the non-toy settings and characters they created for the old Micronauts and Rom comics, but I don't know where that line of demarcation is. Last year, Kevin Feige or Peyton Reed said the MCU Quantum Realm is basically the Marvel comics' Microverse minus the Micronauts characters.

Hopefully the 2-year non-compete runs from Netflix's cancellation date to the future air/premiere date on the new channel/service. If that's the case, Marvel could start writing and filming during the embargo as long as the series doesn't debut on Disney+ (or Hulu, or wherever) before the 2 year limit.

It'd be nice to see lawyer Jenn Walters take on Murdock & Nelson in court.

The axe falls for the final time:

Gizmodo: "Netflix's The Punisher and Jessica Jones Are Officially Cancelled"

Marvel.com wrote:

It had never been done before.

Four separate television series, each with different super-talented showrunners, writers, directors, cast and crew, coming out months apart and then...

...they would meet in a single event series all set in the heart of New York City.

We called them The Defenders.

And together we were thrilled by stories of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and even the Punisher joined in!

They said it couldn't be done.

But Marvel assembled amazing teams to write, produce, direct, edit, and score 13 seasons and 161 one-hour episodes.

Take a moment and go online and look at the dazzling list of actors, writers, directors, and musicians who graced us with the very best of their craft.

We loved each and every minute of it.

And we did it all for you -- the fans -- who cheered for us around the world and made all the hard work worth it.

So, Thank You!

On behalf of everyone at Marvel Television, we couldn't be more proud or more grateful to our audience.

Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters... but you know Marvel better than that.

As Matthew Murdock's Dad once said, "The measure of a man is not how he gets knocked to the mat, it's how he gets back up."

To be continued...!

Just need a Xzibit Skrull cameo.

This would also be a nice plot seed to plant in Captain Marvel, set in the 90s, before building toward a Secret Invasion event and/or Avengers 5 in 2020/1.

Edit: And if they actually do Secret Invasion, can we get Tatiana Maslany as Queen Veranke?

I read once (but now I can't find it) that Skrulls the race were always considered shared IP between Fox and Marvel/Disney, but the Super-Skrull Kl'rt & Super-Skrull variants, Lyja, the Cow Skrulls, and other characters introduced and/or mainly associated with the Fantastic Four remained licensed to Fox. Skrulls such as Anelle, Hulkling (a half-Skrull) and Xavin remained Marvel's, but they couldn't reference the Super-Skrull process (meaning Xavin wouldn't have her/his SS powers) and some other FF-specific events.

But I am not Shulkie, so my legal expertise is questionable.

This is all timely, as Dark Phoenix has been strongly rumored to have the Skrulls in it too. But whether they are actually the Skrulls, or modified Shi'ars, or some other shapeshifters... who knows.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Nope. Super Skrull is part of Fantastic Four's IP, so they can't appear in the MCU until after the Disney/Fox merger is done.

Yeah, WTF? Gluing a dead Wasp to your palm and slapping people on the head would provoke the considerable wrath of Hank Pym, if not all the MCU.

Like Grant Gustin (Flash), Rose has always been on the slim side.

She held her own physically against Keanu Reeves in the second Wick film, so I imagine she'll do fine holding up the physical side of embodying Batwoman.

Sources confirm Margot Robbie is producing and starring in the upcoming Birds of Prey set in the current DC Comics film universe. The movie will feature Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, Renee Montoya as The Question and Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad. The (a?) currently unnamed villain they will be facing "is a Batman character never before seen on the big screen."

No additional casting has been announced. Birds of Prey is set to be directed by Cathy Yan from a script written by Christina Hodson.

So, Larson confirmed via her Twitter that principle filming is complete for Captain Marvel. Nothing surprising, just a photo of a signed clapboard and a calendar with some doodling... wait, is that a doodle of her cat Chewie in the trailing space saucer?

The next phase of filming is now moving to New Orleans. Perhaps Lashana Lynch's currently unnamed role will be Monica Rambeau after all?

Ant-Man and The Wasp releases July 6th. Is it too much to hope we might get a Captain Marvel teaser trailer with it too?

It wasn't a navigational CD.

It was Celine Dion.

Marvel Studios announced today that production has officially started on Captain Marvel. Also in the announcement was that Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, and Clark Gregg have been added to the cast (presumably reprising their previous MCU roles as Ronan the Accuser, Korath the Pursuer, and S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson respectively).

Also, Lashana Lynch has been cast to replace the previously cast DeWanda Wise, who had to step down due to scheduling conflicts in filming. No word yet who Lynch will be, or Wise would have been, portraying. (Please? Pretty please?)

Yeah, Chris Evans' acting has embodied the very best of Captain America. I really like Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, but either of them would have a pair of very big red boots to fill as MCU Cap.

RDJr is getting expensive for Marvel/Disney, so retiring Stark would be a good way to go. If he dies, he could still live on as an AI. Marvel Comics already has a new suit builder & wearer ready to go for the movies: Riri Williams aka Ironheart. It would allow them to continue the Iron Man franchise, and Don Cheedle could play a big role as Riri's mentor and/or foil. Williams also doesn't have Stark's womanizing, sexist, alcoholic, war-mongering past either.

And if Cheedle isn't available or wants out,

mild Infinity War spoiler:
One of the late night hosts (Kimmel?) got Gwyneth Paltrow to admit she was wearing a motion capture suit for A:IW, so I'm guessing she may be in the Rescue armor. Potts/Rescue could also mentor Williams/Ironheart.

The Mad Comrade wrote:
I think they may be setting up Thor to fully assume Odin's mantle as King of Asgard-on-Earth in Norway. All he is missing is a bit more wisdom, the two ravens, the bad-a$$ horse and a new weapon.

Well, if they stick to the myths, Loki* could help provide the horse. :)

* Actually, I think Loki dies trying to stop Thanos or trying to save Thor and/or the Asgardian survivors. I also think EvansCap dies at the end of A:IW in an all-out mano-a-mano with Thanos, with his Avengers 4 scenes being flashbacks. Stark also dies/retires at the end of A4.

Edit: Although, if I really wanted to drive home that Thanos was an evil bad-ass, I'd have him indiscriminately kill Stan Lee and Joss Whedon as innocent bystanders.
