Liberty's Edge

Guess we’ll have to see when the movie comes out. I have a lot of fairh in Kevin Fiegie ...

That.... bespeaks an absurd pace of getting the band back together.

But I'll take that over the trailers giving away literally everything.

I'm all for it. Stipulate to the inevitable (yeah, it took months, they all got back together), and just hit the ground running.

Scarab Sages

This is what I think will happen:

Opening just after the Marvel logo: Scene introducing CM. Thor and Rocket are already in space looking for Thanos, CM leaves Earth to go find them and help.

A few years pass, unsucessful in the Hunt for Thanos. Scott escapes QR (the overgrown look and old missing posters in Trailer 2 and the surprise of 'when is this happening' of Trailer 1 imply that Scott comes back in later period. Steve also gets his short hair and Snap Support Group up and running in this gap.

The Spacefolks stumble across starving Tony and bored Nebula in the broken down Guardians ship. CM's space stone adjacent powers lets them FTL it back to Earth.

The Band's Back Together, Avenger's HQ gets attacked, fighting in the old costumes.

The team gets fancy new Quantum Realm suits for their Space-time Continuum related shenanigans.

End Act 1.

I like that but what does Thanos do for Act 2 then? Also will there be Kang?

Liberty's Edge

My theory on how they will beat Thanos.

Spoiler:
Goose will take out Thanos.

Lol Thomas you and Kang I swear.

Sovereign Court

No there won't be Kang. Not even in the end credits.

He could perceivably make it into a later avengers movie.

Sovereign Court

That for sure.

Look for me, the unholy trinity of Marvel is Kang, Thanos and Apocalypse. Now admittedly some might call for Annihilus, but honestly giant bug with a Cosmic Control Rod...isn't my thing.

Eh we have to get people comfortable with alien races and societys before we break out Annihlus from his parallel bug dimension.

So wait, did Thanos turn half the universe into that one lady?

Eh the non-blond king of Atlantis is turning again currently anyways.

Your unholy trinity needs more Doom. :)

I kind of like how the X-movies have spent all their energy on Magneto and Mystique, with bit showings by Apocalypse, Shaw, the Sentinels, Sabertooth, etc. and saved some of my favorites (Selene, Proteus, Sauron, maybe Deathbird?) for Marvel.

We break out death bird we got to break out the whole shi'ar and I am down for that.

Oh yeah. Something in my soul will shiver if Marvel puts the Imperial Guard on-screen before DC gets around to even writing a Legion of Super-Heroes comic again, but I bought a scarf and am ready.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Set,

I'm pretty sure the Imperial Guard will be shown before we EVER get a live action movie version of the Legion of Super Heroes.

Now whether we'll get a Squadron Supreme in the MCU...that's a different story.

Also my trinity doesn't need Doom. Doom is like heretic because there is no other god BUT Doom. Thanos, Apocalypse and even to some degree, Kang will accept other gods, they just have to bow to them.

Philip,

I'm more of a Mephisto, Dormammu kind of guy when it comes to Doctor Strange. Though the Darkhold IS a lovely piece of power. MODOK should be saved for when they REALLY get AIM back into gear.

Quite

If they bring in a version of MODOK that is anything like the comics I would love that.

At this time the only thing I think will not show up is a Nextwave movie. But I would love for Disney to prove me wrong^^

Ooh, I would love that. Even a version that couldn't say the word 'mutant' and had to (hilariously) censor Boom-Boom's flashback with Cable and his 'techno-organic prolapse' because they couldn't legally show or mention Cable, could have been fun.

But now that we've seen young Monica Rambeau, some of my desire to see Nextwave is soothed by the notion that we might see adult Monica anyway. (Although I'm also a big fan of Elsa Bloodstone and Machine Man, and this might be the only chance I would get to see either...)

There is some speculation that Jessica Chastain's character in the upcoming Dark Phoenix might be Deathbird.

Sadly, Micronauts was under a license that Marvel no longer has.

Yeah, Micronauts, Rom the Spaceknight, M.A.S.K., and Visionaries are all under Hasbro's full control. There was an effort a couple years ago by Hasbro to incorporate them all into a shared universe with G.I. Joe and Transformers, but I'm not sure if that is still happening or not. (There were rumors that the remains/wreckage of the dead Decepticons from the Bumblebee movie would be the basis to spin off a M.A.S.K. film, but I'm not sure how much truth there was in that.)

Marvel does own most of the non-toy settings and characters they created for the old Micronauts and Rom comics, but I don't know where that line of demarcation is. Last year, Kevin Feige or Peyton Reed said the MCU Quantum Realm is basically the Marvel comics' Microverse minus the Micronauts characters.

IDW ended the shared universe a few months ago and has just rebooted Transformers. I don't know what's going on with those other properties.

I thought the IDW comics reboot was at Hasbro's prompting.

I don't think it was... But I still don't believe the entire thing with Rom and/or the Microverse stuff is under Marvel Studios purview.

IN ANY CASE, what I'd like to see is either an Ultimates (616 version) with Monica, America Chavez, Black Panther and Carol, (with maybe the introduction of Blue Marvel) to maybe stop the demise of the multiverse...

OR Monica leading an all new team of Avengers with her, Luke Cage, She-Hulk, Daredevil, Shang-Chi and possibly Riri Williams.

I could see Photon, She-Hulk, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Riri Williams and maybe Shang-Chi in a new Avengers MCU lineup.
The others, not so much.
Although with Photon's powers being so similar to what MCU's Capatin Marvel's are, she may not make it.

Fing Fang Foom could sub in for Godzilla. perhaps with a little riff on the old cartoon. "Thirty stories tall, breathing fire"

Old foes for Spider-Man:
Tinkerer
Chameleon
The Enforcers(Fancy Dan,Montana,Ox)

Fantastic Four:
Mad Thinker

Hulk:
Metal Master

Turning into a person-shaped entity of light (or other EM spectra energy) would probably be different enough, visually, to work. Carol's generally been a flying tank, with a side of flying zapper, while Monica's only been a flying (intangible) zapper, who spent a fair amount of her early career flying into people at lightspeed with her energy body, since she had limited 'zaps.'

Set,

Also because she can work the entire electromagnetic spectrum (hence her super hero name); she could in theory be a better spy for the simple fact she can BEND LIGHT. Imagine invisibility! Or being able to inhabit someone else while powering them up. (Admittedly I'm taking this from the current Avengers run; No Road Home...but still!)

Also I think we're talking about young Avengers, but honestly I think Monica leading her own team WOULD be great, especially since I'm a fan of America Chavez, Katie Bishop and Kamala Khan. (I doubt we could squeeze in Miles yet...)

Philip,

We already had the Tinkerer. He was in Homecoming. Chameleon might be showing up in Spider-man 3.

I dunno if I want Metal Master, but maybe Moonstone. If only because we now have a good foil for Captain Marvel.

Also I don't think we need to sub Godzilla in. Just have Foom come along with some of the other Marvel Kaiju.

Captain Marvel is powerful, but Photon is a classic "break the adventure" character - go anywhere at lightspeed, intangible and thus invulnerable to most things, invisible.

Red Ronin!

Big Brain robot for Spider-Man as well. Perhaps Sandman and Hydroman can get updated. Scorpion might show up since there was a teaser in Homecoming

As for Hulk, Gargoyle/Gremlin might be good across the pond foes

A character that might be able to link Strange/Scarlet Witch together is Bova, the cow-woman who acts as a midwife near the mountain where Cthon is imprisoned. This also gives a link to Fantastic Four through Agatha Harkness.

Spoilers for Captain Marvel:

In Captain Marvel, Monica says she'll figure out how to meet Captain Marvel "halfway" [through the galaxy]. Fury comments she'll "have to get a lot more glowy." I took that as definite foreshadowing that Monica's going to get her powers. They may not be identical, but she's going to power up at some point. I'm sure given Marvel is pretty good about planning, I trust they'll have a way to be sure her powerset matches the situations she's put in.

Which roundaboutly brings me to something I've been chewing on about a possible change in Carol's canon legacy in the comics. In the comics, it was seeing Carol protecting civilians from a supervillain that inspired Kamala Khan to take the name Ms. Marvel. But in the MCU...

Spoiler:
...Monica Rambeau, our likely Photon/Spectrum as an adult, is already inspired by both Carol and her bad-ass mom.

.
So, if I could dictate MCU canon, I'd have it so Kamala is inspired largely by seeing adult Monica as a superhero. Carol can certainly be part of it too -- perhaps Marvel and Photon/Spectrum fighting side-by-side against the bad guys -- but I think it would be nice for PoC superMonica to also be an inspiration to a younger PoC heroine. I think it would really cement Legacy as an element to Carol's story and the MCU; it would also introduce new character dynamics for both "Great Aunt/Grandma" Carol and "Aunt" Monica to explore.

According to an article I just read, Disney posted and then deleted that Avengers: Endgame was going to be 3 hours 2 minutes long.

Good thing I wasn't going to drink anything when I watch it then...

It was a movie theater, they accidentally posted it would be 182 minutes long.

Is that all? And here I thought it was going to be a long movie.

At least it's not like watching that American Godzilla with Matthew Brodrick and not being able to go anywhere else...

Cause I did that when we got stuck at Lake Tahoe...

My family got stranded when a head gasket blew on the way to Opryland.
Got stranded for 8 hours in a single theater town and the only movie playing was "The Villain".
Saw it twice. I still shudder.
