Mostly we use the spells in the Core Rule Book, Advanced Players Guide and Secrets of Magic. So no big deal.

The biggest problem I will have is removing alignment, I've been playing since 1977 so it is pretty ingrained in me.

Is the Case still available.

The one thing I would like to see are Rings of Elemental Control. They have been around since OD&D.

Any word on when this will be available for retail sale? I want to get a copy so my son can GM it.

Really cool options. I love Faith Healer, that would be perfect for my PFS Cleric. Hopefully Paizo does something similar. If I get to play in a home brew I will push to get these approved.

Selene, it has been a while since I asked you any questions but I just want to know how you are doing?

My own life has gotten a little more complicated so I don't have as much time to spend on the boards.

Just got the PDF today. Absolutely brilliant. There are a lot of items I want to get for my PFS characters. An excellent replacement for Ultimate Equipment.

I want a PR2 version of the Ultimate Equipment book.

I am looking forward to any previews of the finalized magus. The playtest one was close but not quite right.

Dues Lex Machina was an excellent episode. Jon Cryer is in my opinion the best Lex Luthor. Definitely plays a sociopath genius well. The twist and turns to his plot were well conceived and executed. I very much enjoyed this episode.

This is solely my opinion and I can't prove it.
1) I do not believe having access to a 10th level slot allows the school specialization to add an additional slot.
2) You should be able to use the 10th level slot for quickened casting.

I found Alex in Wonderland a good episode. It was interesting to see Alex as Supergirl. The NPCs were pretty 2 dimensional as you would expect. The real world plot arch is well done and had some interesting twists. The Levathan characters are serious villains and a serious threat to the world.

I liked it.

The thing I am liking the most is the character development between Supergirl and Batwoman. They are becoming friends and allies very quickly. I hope it keeps up.

With each weekly upgrade, HeroLab Online is becoming more usable. At the moment it is still my go to choice for PFS 2E. I have been playing with Pathbuilder 2e for proof of concept builds.

Be nice if we could get this stickyed

@DeathQuaker, I agree with you that Alex did a great part. I also agree that they are wasting great asset in J'onn. The writers keep forgetting he is a near Batman level detective with Superman like powers. He is one of my favorite Justice League but they need to use him more.

I agree that Kara should just leave Catco. The transition from writing unresearched biased pieces to demanding journalistic integrity is a pretty normal growth pattern for real world journalists. So I am not having a problem with her growth. Bottom line on Kara staying at Catco is no Krytonian needs a job. She could easily just live with the DEO or take over their old facility in the desert or even take over an abandoned island somewhere. If both she and Superman need the identity for social contact, then there are not too many jobs she would not excel at.

Good origin story. The reason for her advanced combat training and estrangement from her father makes perfect sense. The twist on who Alice is was a great plot twist.

I have most of the options in Hero Labs Classic. I have Hero Labs Online and it is barely adequate to generate my PFS2 characters. I will probably never buy any add in for it. Despite all of time it was available for Starfinder, HLO still feels like a beta test product to me.

Btw, regarding the PDFs - once you buy them, do you get access to updated ones as errata comes out? Just wondering

In the PF1 we did and I have not seen any change in their policy.

Also, given that champion is a new class born from one of the most restrictive classes, it being the most limited of the pf2 classes is almost to be expected

The Champion may be one of the more restrictive classes to role play but they are one of only two classes to get armor specialization. Fighter is the other. Armor specialization is a cool edge based on the type of armor you are wearing. Allows another degree of fine tuning your character to the vision you have for it.

Actual query here, are people thinking hero points are worth the hassle?

Again, actually asking this it is not rhetorical.

They are worth the hassle as another tool in the player's arsenal. Whether used for a re-roll or avoiding death they empower the player and allow for the story line to continue. Anything that allows the player to determine the character's destiny is good for the game.

What Proficiency in weapons and armor do both doctrines end at.

We know that Cloistered Clerics wind up Expert in their deity's Favored Weapon and in Unarmored (at 11th and 13th levels respectively).

We know Warpriests get Expert in weapons earlier, but the rest is still ambiguous. I think someone mentioned them getting Master in weapons but never going above Trained in armor, but I can't remember where and certainly don't have the book to check.

Looks like Warpriests get expert in their deity's weapon at 7th, plus weapon crit specialization effect, but never get master.

As for armor, they get expert in light and medium at 13th.

Also, at 15th, they get master proficiency in Fort saves, and treat a success as a critical success.

The fact that a Warpriest of Iomadae can't fight quite as well as a Paladin of Iomadae does not seem to be a problem. The warpriest has other ways to compensate for the slight difference in proficiency.

I don't want a path for a wizard to be legendary with a weapon, legendary with unarmored defense and legendary at spell casting.

My reading of the classes is they seem to be well balanced.

I am slowly coming to grip with the new CRB. The organization is not intuitive for me. The index and TOC are not that helpful. Took me half an hour to find the focus powers. Great material there so it is just a learning process for me.

My order shipped so soon I will have it in hand. :)

The interaction between item quality and rune potency was one of the more interesting things in the play test, sorry to see it is gone. The critical from a legendary potency 5 rapier was impressive; 6d6 + 3d8 + strength/dexterity bonus. Ouch!

When the CRB comes out I'll have to see what bad ass weapon I can build.

I am hoping the PF2 paladin is as much fun to play as the PF1 is.

Play in the "We be Heroes" game, it uses the play test rules. Continue advancing my PF1 Magus in PFS. Wait impatiently for Paizo to take my money and ship me the new book.

Trying to be patient.

Saedar, you convinced me. I will slowly sign up for the subscriptions as they become available. So far subscribed to the core rule book line and the module line. The adventure path and campaign setting are not available yet.

I have pre-ordered the Core Rule Book, module, Lost Omens world guide, and Bestiary. Can't beat the no shipping cost.

Pity, I have a lot of respect for you opinions on the Magus. Your guide is the best for advise on the Magus. Thanks for all of your hard work.

If that works, let me know. I’d like to do that too!

Unfortunately there is no way to preorder the Adventure path. We will have to wait until the subscription shows Age of Ashes part 1 in the Start With window.

Very good write up, I hope they do something like in their Ancestry and Background book, whatever the actual title is.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My question is just the opposite. Is there a way for me to subscribe to the Adventure Path beginning with first 2nd Edition adventure or do I just have to wait until the start with finally shows it?

After reading the blog "Tough Crowd" I am tempted to play a bard for my first character. Bards have been one of my favorite classes throughout the editions.

Still interested in finding out if the 15% discount applies to the new products.

Chance,I think of titanium when discussing mithral but I see your point. If the developers wanted to add more realism to the game they would add more stances to exploit the different shield types. Raising a kite shield is a lot different than a Viking round shield. Instead of giving the same bonus, a kite shield should get another +1 to AC and TAC over a round shield.

"(I'd sooner see a Barbarian with a shield than a Bard)"
Historically the Celtic beserker used a shield. The purpose of wearing no armor was so they could exhaust their heavily armored opponents and dispatch then once they were helpless.

So I totally agree with barbarians getting shield proficiency, maybe all the way to Master.

I like the change, not including the four types of saves is cleaner on a damage only spell. Still feel it needs to be included on spells which have narrative effects.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Very well thought out analysis. Any chance you can do the same for the other lists?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

If I remember correctly, one of the developers described a bard spell where the bard trapped a character in a box created by a mime building a box.

I have been analyzing substituting a fighter-wizard multi-class for a magus. Acknowledging we only have partial knowledge of multi-class archetypes I can only form a partial opinion. From what I have seen so far the multi-class option will not give enough spell slots to adequately replicate the magus. Only getting 2 spell lots for the lower level spells is not enough.

I will analyze the wizard-fighter multi-class option but my gut feeling is it will not be adequate either but from the combat side.

I think we will need to look at the bard chassis as method of making a good magus.

Even though I don't have total understanding on how the half-elf and half-orc ancestries work, one of my first characters will be a half-elf, gladiator, bard. I like background of a character who fought his way out of the arena.

Thanks you for giving me a mechanical method to create this character.

When considering classic literature like Lord of the Rings or going back to D&D 1st Edition, the basic races are:

-Humans
-Dwarves/Gnomes
-Halflings/Hobbits
-Elves
-Orcs/Goblins

-Half-elves
-Half-orcs

There are a few others, but these are the most common.

So, orcs in PF 2.0 core? Yes, please.

Half-elves in Tolkien were only a few individuals IIRC. Hardly sufficient to be called a race

In Norse mythology there was a single half-elf. Again hardly a race.

Things I like so far:
1. The ABC method of generating characters
2. The 3 actions and 1 reaction
3. The reactions we have see so far. They will make the game more tactical
4. Changes to the paladin, bard and wizard

I have always liked the bard. The preview looks awesome. Can't wait for the play test.
