Deroff finally relaxes when Argoni pays attention and gives him several licks, at least until the alchemical aftertaste kicks in.
He then makes the rounds, trying to lick or nuzzle his nose with the nearby agents, hoping he is pet in return.

Deroff barks again to catch everyone's attention and starts sniffing somewhere suspicious. Sometimes they spend too much time talking and not enough time doing!
Sniff
Deroff turns to warn Miladistra of trouble when- Uhoh, what did I step on... and why is getting so stinky from above me?
Deroff yelps as he leaps away from the boiling refuse and it burns some of his fur. Missus! Missus! My fur smells bad and really strong and that part of the floor is messy and... that guy you want me to track also got smelly. Should be easy to track him now. One moment...
A wolf squeezes alongside Miladistra, almost the size of a small wagon. Someone small could ride him like a horse. Mildistra's still a bit too big, so she simply skips alongside him for now. Patiently allows pettings and shows of affection from Miladistra's soon to be teammates.
Deroff sniffs the worm, looks at Nilaglade. He shrugs. "It's a peace offering." Deroff looks back at Eddie. Deroff licks up the worm and gobbles it in one gulp.
Deroff howls in sync with Rhaegal before barking. Wolf: Wow! You're a wolf in disguise! COOL!
Deroff whimpers as Lokaloka's companion goes poof. Nilaglade strokes his furry head. "Don't worry, I'd never tell you to do that, boy. My niece would be so upset!"
Kibbles and bits and bits and bits
Deroff nudges the swordmaster and licks their face in appreciation. At least until he tastes the potion. Dipping his nose into the water, he drinks a lot of liquid before slipping in. Miladistra bobs her head above the surface long enough to say "Thank ya kindly!" before diving back on her wolf.
Deroff runs up and tries to bite the remaining hound, even as its eyes tear more of Deroff's fur away.
Miladistra fires her crossbow.
Then she strides ahead, but not too closely.
Deroff howls as the bites sink in.
Deroff holds steady, growls and charges ahead.
But the pain is too much.
Deroff barks and runs ahead to protect Miladistra from this foul woman. This predator doesn't smell right, she's clearly not thinking about food.
Deroff whines as his strength fails him yet again.
Deroff shakes his head as the fumes weaken him. He cares not and steps forward, ready to take a bite out of evil.
As if Deroff would lower himself to the level of belly rubs! Okay, just one. One minute of rubbing. Per person. Before he licks them.
Deroff doesn't like this thing one bit. It doesn't even taste good.
And now it's burning his fur coat. This is one of the few times he wants the Missus to bathe him...

A fluffy ball of fang and claws forces his way past the skinny hallway.
This is Miladistra's Animal Companion. He is size Large. As a >mature beastmaster companion<, Deroff can use an action to Stride or Strike even if I don't Command an Animal. Deroff has low light vision and scent (imprecise 30 ft) as extra ordinary senses. GM, I assume you will group is initiative with Miladistra's?
Good playing with you all. Deroff is now a Large wolf and is available for lots of pettings.
"Grrr!" Deroff bares his teeth and Miladistra focuses on Arlen. Wolf: "Missus, something's close to Punchy!"
Deroff saw it. The stand of a hunter. Deroff would spot the deer and draw it out. Then Mister would hold still, draw the hair and then TWANG. Deroff stood still, made sure the arrow hit the deer and not him. The Missus never held that pose. But this woman, smelled like salt, hold still. Deroff pauses to let her hunt. And then watches her hunt again.
Deroff races over, around the smelly zombie, and bites into the other smelly thing.
As soon as the fumes hit Deroff's nose he snorts them right out.
Oh! The Missus is barking! Deroff barks in unison with her.
What is this smell?
Deroff sees the Missus is safe, for now. He fights his better instincts and approaches her and the... other animal. He stands cautious, keeping watch over her.
Deroff looks up for a moment at the Missus before putting his head right back on his front arms and going back to sleep.
Deroff sniffs Tiger's hand and accepts more petting. Then, he hunches his back and prepares to leap. Then he relaxes and nudges Tiger's leg. Turning back to Miladistra, he whines at her. She focuses, listens to Deroff again, and then looks up at Tiger. "Oh! Deroff is asking if you understood him. I think he's trying to teach ya how he fights." Deroff spends some time nuzzling Tiger's leg, preparing to leap, then watching Tiger do it while Miladistra interprets and translates for a bit.
The intense heat hurts just as much as the wound. But the Missus is helping. And Deroff doesn't like this guy anyway.
Deroff runs up the stairs and tries to bite the devil.
Deroff spends the night eating some preserved jerky, drinking as much water as available, and hanging around Tiger. This man knows how to hold his paws ready to strike. Whenever the Missus seems ready, she just shakes Deroff's paws. Everyone falls asleep, eventually. Deroff doesn't mind acting as a big fluffy pillow for the Missus, the family has to stay together. A new morning means it's time for food and it's time to help the family.

Deroff suffers silently as Tiger scratches him right behind the ears. A little lower. A little lower. A bit to the left- aaaah that's the spot. The Elf is much too gentle with her scratches.
Deroff sniffs Tiger's hand and then pauses to let him apply bandages. It was a nice gesture. He walks up to Miladistra, looks to his side and whines.
The wolf puts up with Miladistra's berry-soaked hands. His hair always smells like her, anyway. Besides, now he gets to lick some fruit juice later on.

The Missus shouted something, but it didn't matter to Deroff. The aberrant alpha emerged. He had the posture and accuracy of an Alpha, yet he waited for his minions to go first. He's supposed to protect them.
Deroff keeps up the pace and chomps at the Yellow-furred Lion.
Oh, the missus is alive. Deroff briefly nuzzles her before turning to the non-rock predators. Baring his teeth, he bites the creature twice.
Alert! Loud noise! Alternate predator? No, just a pile of talking rocks. Never mind.
Deroff sits back, wondering when the missus is going to call him over. The last time he attacked someone without the go ahead she scolded him for hours. Then it turned out the predator was trying to prey on her. Naturally the missus didn't give him a second helping of food that day. Scrubbed him down instead. Luckily he was taught to be patient.
He bites into the warrior in red.
Deroff follows the missus, and notices her walking towards a complete stranger. Is this a predator in disguise?
This den smells weird. From the tobacco mud to the sweet alcohol to the... are those people mating? Deroff keeps his nose clean and stays near the missus. Her nose is quite sensitive to all of these scents.
The missus loves talking to new people. Maybe she's an alpha. Deroff isn't sure of what's going on, but he does like the smell. Oh yes. That's a good smell. Chicken, Beef, Pork, Fish- the four categories every wolf needs. Deroff walks up to the missus, brushes against her leg and looks up to face her. She looks at him and speaks to the new person. Did she ignore him? He risks a scolding and denigrates himself by whining at just the right pitch- her ears twitched, she heard it. She didn't even yell, instead she's dropping the food at his feet. Sniff sniff... nibble... lick... salty. Very salty. Very tasty. More please.
Deroff feels so free. He gets to run across the street again. No "Deroff, play nice." No "Deroff, that is someone else's home." No "Deroff, don't scare the children." Now he gets to run again and turn into this alleyway and- And the missus stops. Well, back to boredom.
It wasn't too bad on the ship. No place to run, but most of the crew left him alone. They reeked of sweat, fishwater and oranges. Citrus wasn't Deroff's thing. Another human on board, kept quiet. Upset the missus. These bipedals are always a mystery. Deroff finally got off the ship and couldn't wait to run around the dirt, but the missus entered the den of bipedals. So Deroff followed. Nilaglade did warn him the environment would change frequently.
Deroff stands up, gives Jesselle a passive but pleasant look, before cautiously pawing up to Nikelbei. He gives the goblin a curious sniff before sniffing into the stew pot. Reminds him of chewing on a fresh kill after an exciting chase. Tastes like victory, but it's much warmer. And saltier.
Deroff begins lapping down on the liquid, quite satisfied.
Deroff endures the small one's torture. Protect the head! Roll over slightly and expose the belly, it can withstand the punishment! Just a bit longer!
