Thievery to unlock, Athletics to force it
Miladistra

"Thanks for all yer help. Take care of yerselves, alright?" Miladistra bids the couple a good day and moves on.
Ma and Pa always took good care of each other. They pause to take the time to hold hands, or celebrate a good harvest. Every walk down to the lake was a divine treasure. They got to live another day. Miladistra wonders about her divine treasure. When will she find her reward?
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Whisper Elf gives me +2 to Perception checks to sense undetected creatures.
Today's reward is a dingy warehouse with a boarded up door. Great. She examines the door. Then she keeps her ears open for danger.
"Okay, Deroff. Talk to me. If you smell anything worse than a pig sty, tell me alright?" She ruffles Deroff's head and Speaks with Animals.
Deroff's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

@GM: Sorry for the confusion. When Martin took the potion, I meant to just have it in his inventory and not consume it right away.
@Tarkii: I did forget to roll for healing but the GM rolled for it. It was also meant for Arlen.

Torrent stands at the ready to cast magic weapon on her gill hook directly before someone opens the door (whether having successfully picked the lock, or about to force the door open).
Not the thievery type, but +11 athletics if needed
GM Tiger
|
@Tarkii -- I rolled the heal for Martin when I noticed he didn't roll it.
Tarkii check the door: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
You notice the faint trace of something on the door handle.
So what's the party doing -- you gonna try to pick it or kick it in?
Miladistra
|
This post assumes no one has Thievery.
"Hold on. Sounds like none of ya'll can open the door quietly." She sighs. "I have an idea. I'm not gonna like it."
Miladistra focus on the First World and casts Summon Monster 2. The scent of fermented berries and a whiff of fungus permeate the air. One spot near the door bursts into smoke as a small purple creature emerges.
"Jenkins the Jinkin, we meet again." Her hands on her hips, she keeps her gaze locked with his. "Now I don't like yer, and you don't like me. But you owe me. Pick the lock on this door, and then yer can hide. Maybe you'll get to stab someone in the meantime, too."
Jenkins begins hopping happily and gets to work on the lock.
Thievery is +7 for the next 10 rounds. Miladistra will concentrate to keep her summon active.
Miladistra
|
"You heard 'im, Jenkins. Wipe the handle off first."
Arlen Bales
|
Arlen watches as Miladistra begins to summon her fey friend, "If anyone has a thievery kit, I know how to pick a few locks. Unfortunately, I don't tend to carry a kit around with me."
Trained in Thievery +9, but I don't have a kit.

Unless we're waiting on GM to roll some thievery checks for Jenkins, Torrent is just going to bust down the door to keep the game moving
Is this stagnation? Torrent muses internally while the group deliberates over the door. She snaps back to the real world hearing
Arlen's inquiry--
"Can't say I have one of those...", her voice trails off as she casts magic weapon on her gill hook. "Well, Handle bad. Got it" She then kicks the door as hard as she can, repeatedly, while avoiding the door handle.

Miladistra, are you asking Jenkins to just touch the door or try to undo whatever Tarkii saw on there?
Miladistra
|
Now that I know the door handle is poisoned, I'll ask Jenkins to disarm the trap, and then try to unlock the door.
GM Tiger
|
You going to roll the checks? Obviously Thievery to try to disarm, and 3 Thievery to pick. Or alternatively, Torrent can kick the door in
Miladistra
|
Jenkins mutters, "Alright chumps, let's do this!" and tries to disarm the trap.
Thievery: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Thievery: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Thievery: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Thievery: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
How many rounds did Jinkin spend? Summon only lasts for 1 minute.
Once that's done, Jenkins pulls out his dagger and gets quiet.
Will switch to using Stealth +7 to hide.
GM Tiger
|
With a flourish Jenkins picks the lock and manages to scratch out whatever was on the handle.
I just realized that disarming the trap required Expert Thievery, but the nat 20 kind of decided it. 8 rounds total.
As you open the door, you see over a dozen tables and countless chairs crowd the interior of this tavern, all scattered about in disarray.
Lighting: Anything within 10' of the doorway is in bright light. 10' beyond is in dim light. The rest of the building is in darkness. The ceiling is 15' high. The building is mostly wood except for the chimney and fireplace.
Miladistra
|
Jenkins fiddles, and fiddles, and fiddles... and the lock pops off. He pulls shortsword and carefully goes through the darkness.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
If he sees any creatures with his darkvision, he'll return to Miladistra and point in the direction of the danger.
With that done, Jenkins grabs a chicken wing and melts back into the shadows.
Jinkins speak Undercommon. Miladistra doesn't. Hopefully someone else can understand him. I moved his icon to where he would move to in 2 rounds.
With that done, Miladistra keeps quiet and will Avoid Notice.
Miladistra's Stealth is +7.
