This is an experiment with homebrewed PF2 Mythic rules of the Wrath of the Righteous AP

Retraining House Rule:

Retraining generally takes a week of downtime. And you have to have found someone to pay to help you retrain. In some Adventure Paths (APs) there is enough downtime to actually make this viable (I'm looking at you, KingMaker, which had months of downtime). I'm not really seeing enough downtime in Wrath of the Righteous (WotR) to make this work.

Here is what I propose:

The PC makes a declaration to the GM/table that they plan to retrain out of X and retrain into Y.

Immediately, they lose X.

After a week of in-game time, they make a skill check (generally the DC of which is the Hard DC for the level of Y):

Critical Success: They can immediately begin using Y with no penalties
Success: They can immediately begin using Y, but with a -2 Retraining penalty related to using Y. This penalty goes away after one week of in-game time.
Failure: You still have lost X, and can immediately start a new week of training into Y
Critical Failure: You still have lost X, and must wait an in-game week before restarting training into Y.

For instance, if Harry the level 8 Rogue wanted to retrain out of a general feat taken at level 3 and replace it with a level 2 feat, then the DC would be 18 (16 for level 2 and +2 for Hard DC). If instead it was being replaced by a level 7 feat, the DC would be 25.

If Harry's feat was a Thievery-related feat, then the applicable skill would be Thievery. But, if the feat was related to something else (let's say Toughness), then the applicable skill would be different (in Toughness' case, it would be Fortitude). Non-obvious applicable skills would have to be discussed with the GM.

Singular magic items (for instance a +1, Holy Arrow):

Single magic arrows can be collected after a combat, unless they did critical damage, in which case they are expended.

Inherent Mythic Boons:

1. At Mythic Rank 1, the PC gets a unique Mythic Item. As the PC progresses in Mythic Ranks, the Mythic Item increases in power.
The player will devise what the Mythic Item will be at Mythic Rank 10.
The GM and the player will work together to devise how the initial Mythic Item will evolve over time.

2. At the attainment of Mythic Rank 1, 4, 7, and 10, the PC will get a free boost to an attribute modifier.
If an attribute modifier is already +4 or higher, it takes two boosts to increase it. If the PC gets a partial boost, the PC must boost that attribute again to increase it by 1.

3. At the attainment of any Mythic Rank, the player will devise a Mythic Feat, Ability, or action that, with the GMs approval the PC will get. The Mythic action will be directly related to a Feat, Ability, or action that the PC already has.

4. At Mythic Rank 10, the PC may have a second Apex Item.

Basically, it allows the PC to become more unique through inherent mythic powers.

So, Let's say at Mythic Rank 1, the Fighter gets a Mythic Breastplate. At MR 10, It is an Intelligent item that doesn't allow the PC to be flanked, and that can cast Dimension Door 3/day. At MR 1, it may only warn the wearer to decrease the Off Guard penalty by 1. Etc.

The same Fighter at MR 1, can have a Mythic Raise Shield that is a free reaction that does a Shield Bash to any foe within melee range, when the Shield Block reaction is done.

A mage at Mythic Rank 1 gets a Mythic Pearl of Power. At MR 10, it acts as a crystal ball, that gives the mage an additional spell slot at every available Spell Rank. 1/day it can maximize the dice on any damage die rolls of a spell (e.g., 6d8 would be 48). At MR 1, it gives the mage an additional spell slot at an available spell Rank.

The same Mage at MR 1, can have a Mythic Spell. For example, a Mythic Fireball would automatically have all its damage dice increased by one step.

So, rather than having all the boons be generic, this will allow each player to devise what they believe an overpowered, nearly godlike PC would be.

I marked some of the potions and other things for sale, since I doubt any of us need them or will use them. I also picked up the Alchemist fire, but only so we are carrying them. I don't actually think I will use them, so if we want to sell them I'm good with that.

My time here has been a little shorter than some, but it seems like people are speaking for things as they're found so that they'll be useful most immediately.

I would sell everything sellable after the runes we want to repurpose have been reclaimed.

I try to remember to pull items, but not always. I'm not good with Ranger so much, so I may be missing somethings I need to do. I am working on the update.

I can't find a radiant light spell. What does that item do, exactly?

The chime of opening is a 10 times use. I think that will be a pain to keep track of. Unless we can make it a 1-2/day thing or similar, I would vote to sell it.

As for the healing/antidote potions, I do not want any. I can do battle medicine on everyone 1/hr, I can give a +4 bonus to people against diseases and poisons, etc.

Can we give the minotaur head to the Eagle Watch? We probably don't want to be lugging it around. I don't know how we would price that.

Wow that sheet is awesome. Wow.

Ragathien would probably want to do something appropriate with Yaniel's Longsword: at the end of the day, it's actually a relic of the crusades. Not sure if it would be leveragable as a gift to Irabeth, but it should go to a Paladin who would respect its legacy.

Ragathien will pay for that out of his share if he needs to.

In that case, I suggest selling it immediately. This spell is too niche to be worth carrying the stick. If we did keep it, I suspect we'd use it to counteract low-level darkness more than it's original purpose. And that's only needed if nobody has light as a cantrip.

I forgot that I can apply a shifting rune to my Blessed Armament.

K, well, I am just going to go ahead and own that I had no idea what we were talking about, and didn't search the gameplay thread until just now, and was going just on the Inventory Sheet, which just said "Yaniel's Sword"

Not entirely sure why Trash/Sell is typed in the desc, but even a year ago (March 31, 2024), Ragathien (known by his childhood name of Qafa) had just caught up with the group and identified this relic of the 4th Crusade as Radiance, Yaniel's famed longsword.

Virgil used it to kill hosilla I think it was, Qafathiel cleaned it with presitidigation, and then I guess then we just put it into a backpack, given that Ragathien didn't know he was going to be called to become a Champion at the time. Not even sure we mentioned it to Irabeth to be honest.

If it's not a problem, Ragathien will wear Radiance, proudly, on our sojourn to the Gray Garrison, and shift it into a broadsword when he needs to fight.

(He can also forgo having it edited and just take his share of gp)

In Ragathien's hands, Radiance glows. As a matter of fact, Ragathien can (as an action) turn on and turn off the torch-like glow from Radiance. When held by others, the glow fades.

Additionally, when held by Ragathien, the sword shifts into the form of a Bastard Sword.

I think we only have the time for 3 striking runes

I'd say Perla, but we can give them the 10 +1 Fiend Bane arrows and that will let them pack a punch when we need it most. I don't think we can transfer those arrow runes back to a weapon outright. Thought we could look at getting a fiend bane rune down the road for folks weapons.

Tabil can help moving runes, and preferably would get a +1 Striking on his bow. No Bane runes for me. I don't have money for that. Nor the recipe.

I did. That gave you all enough time to get rid of any negative effects that you know of.

The AP doesn't specify the amount of time, but you, as a group, haven't had any real downtime. I'll try to remember to give you some downtime occasionally.

Currently, Radiance is a +1 cold iron weapon. It will accept a striking rune, and if it were to get striking on its own, the striking rune would fall off and be available.

Just wanted to stop by discussion with a super ultra sincere gratitude post to this campaign ... for inspiring me to troubleshoot my WotR installation so that I can play again. THANK YOU.

There is a lot about this campaign which is better than the PC game for sure, but in the middle of the night when I can't sleep, it kills time in like the best way. Really, thanks again :)

I think we could all log a lot more hours if there were easy skip points; in my case, I frequently forget to save, and then it crashes, and then I have to go back a lot further than I wanted.

But it really is fun. Working on the Gold Dragon path at the moment.

The gold dragon is the only pathway I managed to get naturally just by making normal choices. Everything else seemed... Not normal.

... If I can use a non-science-fantasy spell from the Starfinder Test playbook, I think I found the perfect spell for Solras for the Ghost Hunter spell obtained at level 6: Temporal Bullets.

I'll have a response up tomorrow.
