Deep Blue recognises the monster as a Vorthuul, which is best explained with 'what if somebody who fell into a black hole came back as an undead?'

The whole creature is a ripped apart quantum duality, both a wave and a particle, both a corporeal and a ghost. Crushing tranquility or everburning essence. It affects space and time itself, bending light and attracting. These creatures are rare, and Deep Blue can not tell too much about it, just that one of the quantum states in which it can exist makes it immune to bludgeoning, force damage as well as very resistant to mental effects.

Deep Blue fires a shot, but misses, while Khubelu manages to trick out the Vorthuul, but misses his shot.

Technically no line of fire. All the black stuff is walls, so please check the map on the handouts if you have line of fire. I'll let it pass, since it was a miss, but feel free to exchange the shot for a move.

The monster closes in on Deep Blue, and distorts space around him into a rippling wave of gravity aimed at the Stellifera

Atu takes care of Aurinkar, and saves the Solarian's life. Still looking weak, the lashunta scrambles out of the way.

Khubelu and Bodo move in and Nikko duplicates himself.

Deep Blue fires a shot at the gravity monster, and his blast bends straight into the singularity, who respond by firing another gravity ripple at Atu.

Khubelu manages to confuse the dark creature, but his pistol shot goes wide.

The creature flies up to Atu, distorting and lensing the environment it crosses. With a bony claw, it reaches out to the hooded assassin.

Atu looks to be in absolute agony as he seems to be undergoing a fate similar to Aurinkar's. Deep Blue blasts some shrieking Larva toward the deep space abomination, diminishing the glow of the monster somewhat.

Khubelu against manages to feint the creature, but his shot misses by a hair, the trajectory of the bullet impacted by the strange movements of gravity around the creature.

The creature just stands there, until suddenly it takes on the dark form of a black hole, completely altering gravity in the room.

Another boosted laser shot from Nikko's weapon lases toward the gravitic anomaly. Perhaps it'll score a hit this time.

Deep Blue attempts to take out the monster with a sonic blast, but it's Khubelu and Nikko who finally take out the gravity abomination, first with a hit from the skipshot pistol, then with a laser blast that gets curved around the corner only to hit the Vorthuul directlu.

(Plus some retconning magic adjusting Nikko's shot last round to a hit - apologies.)

The creature disintegrates in a flash of bright light, filling the ship with an expanding pulse of nebulous energy that counteracts the dark aura filling it. Atu is released from his strangehold. With a humming motion, the ship fully returns to the material plane, purging the dark, corrupted drift bubble in which it was caught...

Combat over! Can I get some day jobs?

With the corrupting influence of the Vorthuul gone, the ship seems to hum back life, the subtle droning of the engines returning. Aurinkar remains unconscious, but alive.

Upon returning to the entrance level, all that remains of the many undead is just dust, the creature undone when the drift bubble collapsed. The bodies of the Pinjatar, Rosm, Kelm and Lipuvae are still intact, and can be collected.

Crossing back through the umbilical, the starfinders return to the Vigilance where Lulora is present, her ghostly form clinging to the material plane one last time. You have done well... the ghost whispers you have finished what I could now. I am thankful that the sacrifices of my crew were not in vain. Farewell, my guardians... with that, she once again fades, this time for good.

In the aftermath, Aurinkar remains unconscious but in the good care of Atu. Close to the arrival at Absalom station, the Solarian wakes. The lashunta is somber, and barely speaks, and when they speak only talk in mournful tones about their lost crewmates.

Ixthia is ready to receive the starfinder upon their return You have dealt with the threat well, and have helped us gain further insights into the nature of the drift, and the beings that dwell in it.

A sombre ceremony is held a few days later, in memorial of Lulora and her crew, where many of the captain's former crewmates and team members arrive to see her name, and those of her vigilant crew, entered onto the wall of names.

There is frantic buzzing as Atu partially discorpprates when the creature drops. Their components race about now freed from the gravitational pull, before coalescing again properly. The priest looks up at their allies Thank you, for freeing us. That experience was most unpleasant for us all.

Noticing the ship they are in shuddering they ask Was that creature the source? Is this vessel safe now, or at risk of collapse?
