Kiilo |

Kiilo shifted the mass of the wings at his back when he saw the depiction of winged celestials; one day, there would be a reckoning and the Chelaxians who persecuted his dark-winged brothers and sisters would pay for their misdeeds. Devil worshipping human hunting what they mispercieved as demons was high hypocrisy, even for humans. Their time would come.
"Good thinking BB. The guards do not need to be preserved, they're dead already. Regardless of the fact that Hellknights are not good people, we should still be respectful that they are laid to rest. Well, somewhat respectful ..."

Markus
There are small magical objects inside all four of the sepulchres.
Judging by their titles, they were all high-ranking members of the order, with Xera having a higher rank than Loreen, and both having a martial focus, rather than a magical one.
Kiilo’s Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Markus’ Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Mosquito’s Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Vrosi’s Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Mosquito must be dristacted jumping on the tombstones.
Kiilo, Markus and Vrosi, you can take your turns before the skeletons.
I have set up a starting area on the map.

Vrosi Burnis |

◇ Vrosi immediately starts raging.
◆ He gets out his mikuzaki.
◆ He rushes up to the Hellknight Skeleton.
◆ Vrosi strikes!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22for: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 3 = 11 bludgeoning damage.

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Vrosi
Vrosi doesn't hold back. The suddeness of the orc's rush catches the once hellknight by surprise. The armour gives way where the mikazuki strikes and the bones threaten to break.
Markus
Yes, you are starting the encounter within the green outline from room B12.
Mosquito
"Sacrilege! You will pay for mocking out honoured dead," says one of the skeletons.

Kiilo |

"Hellknights were evil in life just as you are in death; tyrants have no honour deadman." Kiilo's face shows only disgust for the undead surrounding them. He begins casting ...
PhaseBolt: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 163d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 1) = 8 @ red

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Markus
What is your question for the recall knowledge check?
Kiilo
"We have the honour to serve, even after death."
I will take my turns tomorrow.

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Markus
Most skeletons are resistant to cuts and piercing wounds, as well as anything that affects the flesh or the mind, including temperature changes. Additionally, bones are not conductive either.
Kiilo
The bolts flicker and reappear right before hitting the skeleton’s armour. It seems undisturbed.
Skeletons
A few grunts of the armoured skeleton bring the rest into action, soon, they are each moving into position.
Then, as a trained unit they raise they swords against their enemies.
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
With practised movements instilled in them by their training, they each follow up their attacks with their free claws.
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Even though they are slowed down by unlife, the might and the training of the hellknights is apparent in the skeletons, as they manage to wound both Vrosi and Kiilo twice each, while them with no room for escape.
AB (each): Stride*, Strike*x2
They are going alphabetically (by colour) that’s why fuchsia and red would not be flanking for their attacks, since teal and yellow wouldn’t be in position yet.
Hellknight Skeleton
”No intruders go unpunished,” the skeleton says staring at the orc in front of him.
Surrounded and with no way out, Vrosi can believe those words. Vrosi is Frightened 1
It raises its halberd high and brings it down.
slashing damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10X2
The halberd leaves behind a gashing wound, and from that wound the painful sensation of nail being driven through Vrosi’s body begins to spread.
Vrosi’s will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
But Vrosi knows pain, and the pain of the nails is not real.
Not holding back, the skeleton pulls back the weapon before lunging it in Vrosi’s direction.
AB: Demoralize*, Strike*, Invoke reckoning®, Strike*
The Hellknight Skeleton is moderately wounded.
You can all take your turns.

Kiilo |

If you would be so kind as to confirm, I believe Kiilo took 11hp in damage. Having trouble with Vrosi's total (which I want to understand so I can decide to cast Soothe or not). Thanks!

Mosquito. |

Looks like -13hp for Brilliant Burnis and -11hp for Kiilo. If you guys stay there, Mosquito will be trapped in a Healing routine.
The frustrated cleric quickly cast Heal at Brilliant Burnis and then offers him Guidance.
Makes Dem move. Mees wants to makes me rapier magicks!
Heal(1): 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

![]() |

Markus is impressed by the skeletons' actions. He jumps into action and says "They are resistant to slashing and cutting weapons, try using bludgeoning. Also, avoid fire, ice and electricity!"
He concentrates on modifying a spell he knows, as he studied for his thesis, then releases it.
Action 1: Widen Spell. Action 2 & 3: Pummeling Rubble. I believe I get red, blue and pink with a widened Pummeling Rubble. DC 18
Bludgeoning damage: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 Nice tickling. But the pushback may help with the positioning.

Vrosi Burnis |

Frightened 1 Mikazuki Attack vs Hellknight Skeleton: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 1 = 18
Bludgeoning damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 3 = 7
Frightened 1 Mikazuki Attack vs Hellknight Skeleton: 1d20 + 7 - 1 - 5 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 1 - 5 = 4
Bludgeoning damage: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 3 = 11
Parry with Mikazuki

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Kiilo
Yes, you took 11 damage, Vrosi took 33 damage, Mosquito missed the critical hit that dealt 20.
Mosquito
Mosquito doesn’t hesitate to provide some relief for Vrosi, even though he craves for battle.
Markus
The two skeletons than Markus can see from his position turn out to be more difficult to hit than he anticipated, being so thin that most of the rubble misses.
The one behind the wall is not so luck, as the flying rubble breaks a part of the wall onto it, knocking it to the ground. It falls prone since Kiilo is blocking the path for a push.
Vrosi
The skeletal hellknight is well trained with the halberd. With swift rotations, of the polearm it blocks both of Vrosi’s strikes.
Red and blue are lightly damaged, pink is moderately damaged.

Kiilo |

Kiilo looks on with great concern for his friend Vrosi; he begins to sing softly, and his feathers seem to shiver in their harness.
** SOOTHE: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 @ Vrosi
* Casts Courageous Anthem

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Kiilo
Vrosi takes in Kiilo’s song, embracing the healing power carried by it, and bracing for a new assault.
Skeletal Hellknight
”You should never have come here. Now you will never leave.”
Skeletons
Two of the skeletons stretch towards Vrosi and Kiilo to trap them.
Kiilo is fast enough to react, but Vrosi gets caught on the skeleton's claw. Vrosi is grabbed
The other three skeletons swing their scimitars at them.
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Then, they all proceed to try to tear the two apart with nothing but their claws.
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4x2
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
With Kiilo going down, teal would move to hit Vrosi, leaving only one action to strike.
slashing damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
AB (Blue and Pink): Grapple*, Strike*x2
AB (Red and Yellow): Strike*x3
AB (Teal): Strike*, Stride*, Strike*
Skeletal Hellknight
”Soon there will be nothing left of you.”
”Of any of you!
But even after proving his might, his words are not enough to intimidate the orc and the goblin.
Then he brings down his halberd on Vrosi, hoping to take him out of the fight.
Vrosi’s will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Having gotten a second chance, Vrosi is not about to be taken out so easily, as he dodges the incoming swing of the halberd.
AB: Demoralize*x2, Strike*, Invoke Reckoning®
That is 19 damage to Kiilo, knocking him out and bringing him to dying 1, and 18 damage to Vrosi.
AB: Red and blue are lightly damaged, pink is moderately damaged.
You can all take your turns

Vrosi Burnis |

Because Blue rolled a Nat 20, Vrosi is Restrained.
Vrosi will attempt to Escape from Blue's grasp (vs Athletics DC): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Since that is a critical success, Vrosi will step five feet SouthWest. I have not moved my token
Then, Vrosi will strike at the Skeletal Hellknight.
Strike: 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 5 = 22for: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 3 = 10 times 2 because of crit.
Then, Vrosi will strike at the Skeletal Hellknight again.
Strike: 1d20 + 7 - 10 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 10 = -1for: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 3 = 7

Mosquito. |

Feeling a bit trapped, the Cleric casts Heal at Kiilo.
Heal(1): 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Frustrated with his options, Mosquito screams at the Pink skeleton!
Intimidation(T) to Demoralize: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Markus
This time the skeletons are locked against their targets and they are too late to react to the vicious barrage of stones coming their way. The flying debris hits the two skeletons in the open directly, breaking their ribs and their spines. The third one is crushed by the ruble breaking off a part of the ceiling that falls directly on top of it.
Three skeletons down.
Vrosi
Vrosi is freed as the skeleton holding him collapsed to the ground.
Then, to the dismay of the orderly hellknight, Vrosi strikes with the untamed rage of a barbarian. He brings his mikazuki down on the hellknight skeleton. The metallic clank is followed by the sound of broken bones as the skeleton breaks apart. Bones and armour are left scattered on the ground.
Markus killed the skeleton holding you and the crit takes the hellknight skeleton down, so you would still have two Actions left to use. Also, you wouldn't have needed to use your Hero Point.
Mosquito
Seeing the injured strix go down, Mosquito brings down Cailean’s blessing upon him, ceiling his wounds and bringing him back up.
Pink also goes down as well, do you wanna try using intimidate on a different target?
Kiilo
You are Prone and have dropped your weapons but you are awake now thanks to Mosquito's healing. You can take your turn before the skeletons.

Mosquito. |

Mosquito watches all the bones hit the floor! The goblin smiles, giving the Wizard a thumbs up!
He turns his ire at a not collapsed skeleton but his smiles probably isn't helping.
Either way it's a Failure...lol.

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Vrosi
Having defeated the main threat, Vrosi turns to the defensive. He's gotta make sure to make it through to the other end of the battle.
Mosquito
But is it the smile? The unchanging skull makes it difficult to tell what effect, if any, Mosquito's attempt had on it.
Kiilo still has his turn. I will take mine tomorrow.

Kiilo |

Kiilo kwikly summons phasing energy to hurl at the warrior directly ahead of him.
PhaseBolt: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 123d4 ⇒ (2, 4, 2) = 8
which probably phase themselves all the way back to Breachill

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Kiilo
The bolts do, in fact, phase back in too late, and go on to crash against the far wall.
Skeletons
Something changes about the skeletons after their leader goes down. Their posture becomes more uneven, tilted to one side. They drop their weapons, and, instead of thought-out, trained attacks, they just launch themselves against their opponents with their claws.
slashing damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
slashing damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
slashing damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3x2
Even in this, more reckless state, the skeletons remain a threat, as they keep lashing out. Ready for the incoming blows, Vrosi only gets a scratch. Kiilo, on the other hand, doesn't fare so well, as the skeletons claws dig deep past his feathers. In his weakened condition, it is more than Kiilo can take.
That's 5 damage to Vrosi and 10 damage to kiilo. Given than Mosquito healed Kiilo for 10, this brings Kiilo back down and to Dying 3! 1 from Wounded, 2 from the crit.
AB: Drop®, Strike*x3
Both are undamaged
You can all take your turns

Vrosi Burnis |

Vrosi swings at Teal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9for: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 3 = 7 bludgeoning damage.
Vrosi swings at Teal: 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 5 = 22for: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 3 = 11 bludgeoning damage.
Vrosi will then parry with the mikuzaki.

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
The mikazuki breaks through the skeleton, crushing the bones and sending them flying through the room. All that's left is a scattered pile of decades-old bones.
Only yellow remains. Kiilo is one flat check away from death.

Mosquito. |

Mosquito prepares to magicks his Rapier finally! The Swashbuckler seems excited to finally show these femurs and pelvis how...
Crap! Again! Mees tinks Dat wees needs ta discuss sums tactical practices Dat don't involve being surrounded.
The Cleric uses his third Heal in as many rounds.
Heal(1): 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
The goblin then Strides to Flank with Brilliant Burnis on the last remaining skeleton.
Youses probably should just collapse.

![]() |

Seeing most of the threat is gone, Markus is worried about Kiilo, and is glad Mosquito healed him. He raises his magic shield and tries affecting the skeleton's mind.
Don't want to use a spell slot for a single skeleton. Glass shield and Daze DC 18
Daze Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Kiilo |

Weakly, Kiilo bowed to the little goblin, adding a touch of homage to the Caydenite.
As his voice rang true, he deftly wraped the Hymn of Healing into the Ballad of the Tipsy Tankard .
There once was a tankard so tipsy
It clung to you just like a pixie
You could sip it all day, make merry and gay
In the end passing out like a gypsy

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Mosquito
Seeing Mosquito moving towards it, the skeleton turns around to face him.
Kiilo is awake once more, but he is wounded 2.
Markus
Markus tries to get into the skeleton's head and finds it... empty. There is nothing for him to affect.
Kiilo
Wounded but not down, Kiilo stands up and begins to sing. Vrosi can feel the music swelling in him, closing his wounds.
Vrosi, you get Fast Healing 2
Skeleton
The skeleton moves around, lashing out against anyone within reach of its claws.
There is no sense to its movements. They are erratic, without aim, and it is no trouble for any of its targets to step out of the way of its attacks.

Mosquito looks at his Rapier. He looks at the openings through the skeleton to see Brilliant Burnis and frowns. He drops his Rapier.
The Cleric then Raises his Shield, casts Guidance on himself and attempts to Trip it!
Athletics(T) to Trip, Guidance: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 = 15

Vrosi Burnis |

Strike the skeleton: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25for: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 3 = 9 bludgeoning damage.
Strike the skeleton: 1d20 + 7 - 5 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 5 = 6for: 1d6 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 3 = 11 bludgeoning damage.

Mosquito
Mosquito reaches towards the skeleton, not expecting it to be as difficult as it is to trip it. The skeleton is surprisingly fast, and the bones do not offer much of a grip for Mosquito to knock it down.
Vrosi
With the skeleton's attention on Mosquito, Vrosi takes advantage of the opportunity to hit it from behind. The blow cracks the skull of the skeleton and dislodges it from the spine. The cracked skull goes rolling away as the rest of the bones collapse into a pile.
That is the last of the skeletons down!

Kiilo |

"Friends, we have been down here for some time, might we possibly ascend for a while? Stretch our wings? I would be greatful, and to be honest, we could even camp nearby so as to monitor the entrance to this place. Thank you friend Markus, I appreciate your help."

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
The room remains silent but the heavy necromantic aura of the place still lingers.
Markus
Kiilo's wounds look serious, but you don't have the tools to treat them at the moment. Perhaps when some time has passed and the wounds are less swollen.
Mosquito
Very curious to know what it says.
Kiilo
You have been inside for nearly thirty hours, long enough to go nose-blind the smell of dampness that pervades the dungeon.

Kiilo |

"Some boar stew with lentils, Lady Trinil bringing drinks, space for my wings and a few spells to mend them ... what say you friends? A moments respite? I think it's well earned. I'm sure Warbil could ask her people to stand watch."

![]() |

Markus agrees and says "Yes, I like a good building, but I do miss looking at the sky. Shall we go outside? I don't think the inhabitants herein will be leaving anytime soon." Still, he thinks for a while then says "On second thought, someone could have been stuck in that crypt and was waiting for an opportunity to leave. We should take turns watching the exit once we're outside."

Mosquito finishes placing the last unused femur from the skeleton volunteers. He stands looking at his masterpiece.
If anyone who wanted to actually read the little Goblin's sign, they need only look down on the floor covered in bones.
Satisfied he gives a thumbs up to the group just prior to opening coffins for treasure!

Dahak GM Delta Arena |
Before anyone has time to leave, Mosquito has finished his message on the ground and it is pushing the lids off of the coffins. The desecration pays off right away, as each of the four hellknights is buried with a magic item. There are bracers of missile deflection, a feather step stone, a hunter’s bane and an armory bracelet.
Nothing gets in your way as you walk back to the surface and into the open air.

Markus finds the items curious but is also not interested in any of them. Back in open air, Markus suggests the group waits until all are well again before going back in.
