With Lokaloka's pipes and Slipp's flute accompanying Ami's story, Jaxon snags a drink from a passing server and waves away their complaint and tosses them a coin. He leans against the wall and drinks.

Ami takes the stage to tell their final story to the crowd. She tells a story of pranksters inside the Maze of the Open Road that ends in a challenging dance-off with a twist of her magical transformation. Lokaloka supplements the story with music and plays cheerful tunes to describe the chase and dance-off. Slipp adds more that makes the story exciting and more magical. Meanwhile, Jaxon enjoys the scene with his drinks.

With the highest bonus from Aid, Success! Your group earns another Story Point, earning a total of 4 Story Points!

The storytelling indeed entertains the locals, and Viltydus counts their combined efforts to complete the task as a success. They motion to them to follow outside while the crowd inside the hall enjoys more stories from others.

"Well done, Pathfinders! As expected." They tell them. "I am actually impressed that I wanted to give you something as a reward." they then produce a pair of goggles of night for the group.

"How about we proceed to the second task?" they says and lets them follow to their next destination.

Task #2: Mark of the Forge
Viltydus and the Pathfinders arrive outside Bronzhelm’s, a revered smithy in Port Valen. Underneath a metal sign of the smithy is emblazoned with Bronzhelm’s mark, a winged helm perched on the handle of a Morningstar, that hangs above the entrance.

Viltydus cracks their knuckles. “Many dream of greatness, but a dream’s legs often buckle without a sturdy tool to support its weight. Any who brave the Forest of Trials must be well equipped, and such instruments of valor are forged here in the song of fire and steel. I task you to assist our esteemed smith with crafting a tool worthy of a hero, one you’d be honored to receive yourself in the coming years, were you to journey to Valenhall.”

Viltydus introduces the Pathfinders to Tonfer Bronzhelm, who is presently working on a magical item fit to take to Valenhall. The item is still mostly unfinished, as the Ulfen has been putting off the procedure for imbuing the item with magic since “that step always seems to go awry.”

"You will make your mark on the item alongside Tonfer’s so that a part of your identity may journey into glory with the item’s wielder." Viltydus tells them.

Tonfer warns them, however. "Crafting magical gear so close to a site of legend is tricky: the forge fire takes on a life of its own, and sometimes spirits of grandeur inhabit the items and try to exert their own will. Be ready to fend off such creatures as we finish the item."

Tonfer proceeds to give them instructions, telling them that they will work on finishing a flaming battleaxe he named Firecutter.

For this task, you are helping Tonfer finish the magical item he is crafting. Making your mark on the item requires as a group to succeed at three simultaneous DC 20 Crafting, Arcana, Nature, or DC 17 Plane of Fire Lore. A different PC must attempt each of the three checks, and the remaining PCs can use any of the allowed skills to Aid the PC making the primary check with that skill. Alternatively, the remaining PCs (those not attempting one of the primary checks to create the item) can use an exploration mode activity to be ready for battle, such as Avoid Notice, Defend, or Repeat a Spell.

"I can craft. Gimme a sec. I met this one blacksmith, she was made of metal. Loved folding iron bars into shapes as art projects. So when victims started showing up folded into pretzels, she was suspect number one. Luckily I caught the actual killer."

Tonfer grips the Firecutter with all his strength and hides under the nearest cover, holding it in place to prevent it from breaking amidst the chaos.

The smell is too much for Erevan too, and it does not help to contain his fear as well. He quickly brews something that burns and throws it to Ashen. The bottle hits the floor instead.

Jaxon's never had someone try to feed him something in the middle of a fight, so he almost chokes on the elixir, but manages to get it down. Almost immediately, he feels like he doesn't need to shit himself which is a huge relief. The relief is immediately ended by the ghost scaring more shit out of the thug again and him inhaling more smoke.

Done with this game, the thug lunges for both of the rats, missing due to the smoke at first before he finally grabs both of them by their necks. With a yell, he slams their heads together. A horrible crack and squelch can be heard as he crushes their skulls, exploding rat brains all over his face.

He turns to the ghost, his face covered in soot, blood, and gore. He spits some brains out and says, "Now it's your turn."
