Darcy Sparrow |
Darcy waits till the last of the three goes by, then lurches from her hiding spot spear in hand.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Spear
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Point
1d6 ⇒ 3 Sneaky Sneak
But finds she was too excited, and the thug bobbed when she thought he was going to weave.
Talus Tar-Kös |
Here we go again! We are...cursed. ;)
Old School GM Obermind |
As Calhoun fires his bow, both of the thugs attempt to smack him with their crowbars, one of them hitting him squarely and leaving the Ranger on the edge of consciousness.
Calhoun takes 8 points of damage and is now at 0HP!
-- Actions for this round (lets call it round 1) --
Calhoun moved ahead and shooed the horses away. (Done)
Talus moved and cast Obscuring Mist (Done)
Lewill spoke, moved and cast Mage Armor (Done)
Darcy moved, attacked and missed (Done)
Dragomir (can still act)
1d20 ⇒ 16
1d20 ⇒ 10
1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Dragomir Vuk |
Dragomir runs, charging, at the nearest foe, seeking to cut them in half.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 for 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14…
Add 2 if charge applies… If cleave applies? Just roll for me.
Old School GM Obermind |
@Dragomir - you are too far away to reach any opponent with a charge unfortunately :/
Talus Tar-Kös |
Dragomir - according to the map (also linked in OSGMO's header) you are 150' away from nearest foes...you got a bow?
Old School GM Obermind |
Well, a Heavy Crossbow takes a full round to load. So you can draw and load it this round. But not move or fire it.
Talus Tar-Kös |
Pretty sure when we started 200’ away from our foes, anyone with half a brain (which just includes Dragomir) would have pre-loaded their crossbows. I know Talus didn’t, because he doesn’t have one. ;)
So Dragomir probably already had it loaded…

Sorry OSW, no such assumptions. Not sure who has them, but the fact is no one readied any ranged weapon.
Old School GM Obermind |
Dragomir takes a knee and loads his crossbow.
The two thugs on Calhoun attempt to clobber him, but they both miss their marks, even with the Ranger being barely conscious.
A character with 0 hit points, or one who has negative hit points but has become stable and conscious, is disabled. A disabled character may take a single move action or standard action each round (but not both, nor can he take full-round actions, but he can still take swift, immediate, and free actions). He moves at half speed. Taking move actions doesn’t risk further injury, but performing any standard action (or any other action the GM deems strenuous, including some free actions such as casting a Quicken Spell spell) deals 1 point of damage after the completion of the act. Unless the action increased the disabled character’s hit points, he is now in negative hit points and dying.
-----------
The other three turn on Darcy, flanking her. Only the stocky man hits, but he slices her leg viciously.
(Darcy takes 6 points of damage)
-- Actions for this round (lets call it round 2) --
Calhoun tried to fire an arrow and got clipped by an AoO. Is now Disabled. (Can still act)
Talus (Can still act)
Lewill (Can still act)
Darcy (Can still act)
Dragomir (Can still act)
Heroes GO!
1d20 ⇒ 8
1d20 ⇒ 7
1d20 ⇒ 4
1d20 ⇒ 6
1d20 ⇒ 18
1d3 ⇒ 3
1d3 ⇒ 1
1d3 ⇒ 3
1d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (1) = 6
Talus Tar-Kös |
Not seeing any particularly great options for Talus currently. He is 150' away from Calhoun, who is Disabled, and likely flanked by two thugs.
Darcy is even further away, at half health and flanked by three thugs.
Even were he to Run as a full round action (CRB p. 188...4x movement of 20' = 80') by himself, to close with Calhoun (the closest) he would still be 70' away.
Even if Talus did have a crossbow, he'd have to load it this round, and then fire next round, and it would have to be a heavy crossbow to target without a range penalty.
Talus steps out of the mist to observe the carnage.
"What do you think Lewill - time to return to the temple? Our hasty friends are...likely doomed."
Talus makes his characterisiticc toothy grin.
"Or...we make a stand here."
The half orc holds his falchion out in front of him and, eyes closed mutters an unintelligible doggerel tune that sounds half imprecation and half beseechment...
Move Action to move to edge of obscuring mist; Standard Action to cast bless to cover Talus, Lewill and Dragomir
Lewill Deray |
Lewill stares out in dismay at the scene unfolding before him - knowing it was HIS plan that led to this.
"No Talus we make our stand here. If we can draw these thugs to us it will give our friends time to escape...I hope. Plus we can...bloody their noses here...make then think twice!"
Lewill steps out from the obscuring mist and shouts out to the thugs, "Hey you! I wanted to see where the smell of horse manure is coming from. At first I though it was from your steeds, but it seems I was mistaken!" in a taunting voice.
Once the leader (or one of the other thugs) gets within range, Lewill will use Arcane Bond to cast Magic Missile at the target!
Talus Tar-Kös |
Darcy screams in pain and tries he best to run away, tumbling and dodging to the best of her ability.
In game terms is Darcy employing Full Defense? Run as Full round action with AoO’s incoming? It reads like she’s trying to avoid incoming attacks, so probably not… I can’t remember if there is a Withdraw or Retreat option in PF1…
Old School GM Obermind |
Talus blesses himself and his closest companions, while Lewill readies to cast an offensive spell, in case any of their foes come closer.
Dragomir shoots a bolt at the ones engaged with Calhoun, but the projectile misses its mark. He advances a few feet toward their foes.
Darcy safely tumbles away from her opponents!
-- Actions for this round (lets call it round 2) --
Calhoun tried to fire an arrow and got clipped by an AoO. Is now Disabled. (Can still act)
Talus (Moved and Cast Bless)
Lewill (Ready cast Magic Missile)
Darcy (Tumbled 30' away from her foes)
Dragomir (Shot a crossbow bolt and moved 20')
Calhoun GO!
Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 16
1d6 ⇒ 6
Old School GM Obermind |
I would say it makes sense to post when you can 'in blocks'. If the good guys are up, yeah sure, post anytime. But if the bad guys still need to go, it makes more sense to wait for their 'block'.
Calhoun the Guide |
Having been knocked onto his butt, Calhoun shakes off some of the pain and disorganization and attempts to retreat to a safe location.
If the enemy is still close by, Calhoun will lay still until they are no longer pay him any attention, then he will try to slowly crawl away looking for some healing
Old School GM Obermind |
@Calhoun: Disabled does not mean you are fallen on the ground. You can read about it here.
