Narciso the Sorcerer
Let's go get Grau first. He should have sobered up by now. Briggi treks over to Grau's
"This is that missing patrolman of yours? Well, I suppose we can go roust him."
Narciso goes with Briggi...
Ernhild Jaggvir
|
"Obviously not," Ernhild decisively puts her foot next to Briggi's, making it a lot harder for Grau to slam the door shut. "Something new has come up in the keylock murderer case. We might finally have a lead. You're the only one who could ask at the city watch to let us see the evidence."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 HA!
Narciso the Sorcerer
I think Ernhild is our diplomat... Can I see Grau's eyes or are they hidden behind the door?
Tisha Nerifaren
Seeing the others not having any luck coaxing him out Tosha tries another approach to have him open the door.

He had you convinced he was loyal? No wonder the city is fallen to crime lords. Hells, I bet he’s paid off by Lamm to let the Lambs go free in this district.
I heard from my sisters husband that he saw him talking with the leaders of the riots early yesterday before they happened. He was probably planning on taking advantage of the next chaos in the city to let his crime boss friends loot places while people were distracted by the riots.
I should go to the Hellknights and have them drag him in for questioning while we search his flat. I bet we find evidence of a plot to kill the king for his friends.
Narciso the Sorcerer
While Briggi is subduing and binding, Narciso murmurs "I suppose we had better get on with that searching for evidence bit..."
He glides into the apartment and searches the place. Mysteriously, as he does so, a rabbit appears and joins him, sniffing in the corners of the flat...

"Because I'm curious as to why a loyal sergeant would throw it all away, getting blackout drunk in the middle of a bad set of riots." replies Narciso and he continues, muttering under his breath "Also, I have sticky fingers..."
Tisha Nerifaren
Tisha steps in to look around but is mostly watching Narciso and the rabbit to make sure they don’t mess up the flat more then Biggi already did.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Narciso, Let’s not kick the sergeant when he’s down. After all if he can tell that fast that I’m bluffing when he couldn’t even see me, he has the making of a good watchman.
Ernhild Jaggvir

Ernhild doesn't particularly approve of Briggi's method - but she has to admit that it's efficient.
""Because I'm curious as to why a loyal sergeant would throw it all away, getting blackout drunk in the middle of a bad set of riots."
"Makes sense," she concedes, and joins the sorcerer in a quick scan of the apartment.
Or perhaps she just wants to keep an eye on Narciso.

The flat is a mess and it stinks. Grau seems to be in this state longer than the start of the riots. Unwashed clothes lying around and leftover food that is coming to life and in consequence a rodent and different kinds of artropods as subtenants.
Narciso finds an old crumpeld attempt at a love letter to one Sabina under a pile of garbage. There is no money found and nothing of value for sticky fingers.
Narciso the Sorcerer
Has anyone told Tisha and Narciso about Grau and his issue with Vencarlo and Sabina (whomever they are)? I haven't found any mention in thread...
"Well, he's apparently fallen in love with a woman named Sabina. But now Private Grau can't write a love letter worth a damn..."
Tisha Nerifaren
I’ve yet to meet many Human men who can write a good love letter. The art of the poet seems to be rare in the shorter lived races.
But from what I’ve seen they do feel passions, if he’s in depression over a woman, well that explains the drinking. We may need to get him something else to focus on for a while or he’ll be right back at this in a few days.
Ernhild Jaggvir

Ernhild reads through the letter. "It's certainly nothing of interest," she says flatly, and puts it back where Narciso found it.
"Come on Grau. Let's go get some fresh air. It'll do you some good."

Trisha pokes Narciso.
Come on let’s help bring him to the watch.
"Yeah, yeah, coming mother..."
Briggi Plannten
Deputies! They lent their help to deal with a foul criminal by the name Gaedron Lamm.
We are also trying to find some info on some stolen items. I know that the riot was a bad time to bring it up, but maybe we can get these items checked out. Briggi waves Ernhild forwards.
Ernhild Jaggvir
|
Ernhild looks at Briggi, then at Tisha. When it becomes clear that they're quite serious about sharing information with the watch captain, she gives in and places the ledge book on the counter.
"It's some kind of ledge book found on Lamm's person. We cannot read it."
Cressida Kroft __
Kroft opens the ledger and crossreads a few pages. "You said you dealt with Lamm. I haven't seen him in a cell, does that mean he will never cause any trouble again? Then I'm not interested in his unintelligible bookkeeping. He wasn't that big a fish." She closes the book an pushes it back to Ernhild.
On seeeing the knife she contorts her face. "Don't tell me, you found that in a butchered corpse in a otherwise untouched and locked home."
"Otherwise that is a case as cold as a night in Abadius when you live under a bridge. You're welcome to check the 'evidence'. Which is a large collection of such knives, stomach turning drawings of gruel mutilations, and hundreds of pages of horrified witnesses' testimonies who have seen nothing, heard nothing and have no clue how the murder came into the house."
"It is in the archive, third floor."
Tisha Nerifaren
Tisha quietly retrieves both items and tucks them away in her bag.
Then she returns to quietly watching from where she stands near the edge of the room.
Narciso the Sorcerer
"Watch-Captain Kroft, consider me a pessimist if you must, but I'm guessing that's a new knife. I suspect that your cold case is about to catch fire again..."
Cressida Kroft __
"If we're going to use titles and ranks, it's Field Marshal Kroft."[b] Kroft replies. [b]"And for me that is just another creepy knife, as long as it doesn't stick in a corpse. The last thing I need in this situation is a serial killer revival. And you told the guy you found it with is dead, so... if you have nothing else that is actually important, I have work to do."
Ernhild Jaggvir

Ernhild nods understandingly. "So do we," she retrieves the log book. "If we may." She glances at the staircase.
Tisha Nerifaren
We should see if all the keys are the same. Perhaps if they all match, we can see if they match any of the locks that Lamm had.
Gharen Muricar __
"The keylock murders you say? Give me amoment." the archivar replies and disappears into the long rows of shelves where hundreds, if not thousands of boxes are stored.
After a while he returns with a heavy box containing all the knives. He puts it in front of you on the counter. "There is more." he comments before disappearing into the half lit area of forgotten criminal lore.
"That's the papers. Don't mess it up."
With that done he returns to his desk documenting box contents from recent criminal cases.
Tisha Nerifaren
Tisha opens the box and using a cloth picks up one of the other daggers, she examines it looking to see if the key pattern matches the one she has or if the other one has any writing like their dagger does.
She also compares a few of the daggers in the box to see if they match and if the dagger she has is consistent with the other ones.

Ah yeah! She had a bug, like a Sim :')
"It's going to take forever to go through it all. Any magic knives in this pile?" she asks Narciso.
She skims read through some paper. At least she's used to reading administrative papers, and fluent in legalese.
