GM Xavier Kahlvet |
But if you don't mind, when will he return?
"Soon. He should be back soon."
Kolgradd Thunderiron |
"He's lost it Jevar. We shouldn't be surprised I suppose, we'd all be mad twice over if not for Shohreh"
"WHO HAS HE GONE TO MEET?" he says to Mun, raising his voice and talking slowly for some reason.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
"WHO HAS HE GONE TO MEET?"
At this, Mun practically yanks at Kolgradd’s beard in an attempt to quiet the dwarf. ”Will you shut up, Kolgradd?! Or are you trying to give the boy a heart attack?!”
Shohreh Kassar |
Shohreh kneels next to Mun, speaking in a soft voice. "Master Mun, I am a trained physician. I will attend to Akie, but my colleagues need your help. Will you answer their questions, please?"
Deception? +20
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Mun hesitates for a moment, clearly worried about Akie (who has long since been defeated), before he finally says ”O-okay…”
Regardless, as he hands care of Akie over to Shohreh, he still watches her nervously.
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Okay, now that she is taking care of his wounds, you ought to be able to answer some questions. Who has Mr. Haserton gone to meet? Jevar repeats Kolgradd's question, softly, hoping that Mun is now more agreeable.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Mun watches Shohreh's attempt to "fix" Akie, and he chimes in with "No no. You need a suture for that; have mine."
Okay, now that she is taking care of his wounds, you ought to be able to answer some questions. Who has Mr. Haserton gone to meet? Jevar repeats Kolgradd's question, softly, hoping that Mun is now more agreeable.
"Hmm? Oh. Biting Lash. He should be back any minute now."
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Jevar looks around at his companions, suggesting
Perhaps we wait here for him. At least an hour or so to see if it's truly going to be that soon.
Boodiddly |
"When did he go to meet this Biting Lash?" Boodiddly asks curiously. "And what business would he even have had with someone like that?" He does his best to make it sound like he already knows who this other person is - the better to get more information from the apparently-addled Mun.
Shohreh Kassar |
Shohreh continues to do her best to feign providing first aid, listening intently to the conversation going on beside her. When she hears that name, though, her hands falter for just an instant, almost imperceptible to anyone who didn't know her well.
"Where were they supposed to meet?" she asks, tension creeping into her usually soft tone.

As Shohreh’s reaction hinted, y’all actually do know the name Biting Lash.
"When did he go to meet this Biting Lash?" Boodiddly asks curiously. "And what business would he even have had with someone like that?" He does his best to make it sound like he already knows who this other person is - the better to get more information from the apparently-addled Mun.
"Where were they supposed to meet?" she asks, tension creeping into her usually soft tone.
”Oh, not too long ago. He went to Okeno to get some more companions, then he’ll be right back.”
N: 4d20 ⇒ (14, 4, 15, 15) = 48
The former-amnesiacs cannot help but look at the slew of strange, chaotic paintings made throughout this room—the only person who could have done so being Miacknian himself. This seems to have taken a lot more work than simply waiting for someone who will “be right back.”
Nevertheless, the former-amnesiacs see that Mun genuinely believes what he’s saying—that Haserton Lowls IV will be back any moment now. Though, most notably, Okeno is a city on an island in Katapesh*. And is over 400 miles away from here, as the crow flies. Either Lowls is employing absurdly powerful teleportation magic, or he is not coming back soon, as Mun suggests.
*I previously said that Okeno is a Qadiran city; that was incorrect on my part. It is actually in Katapesh.
Jevar Shadowmantle |
After hearing this, Jevar corrects himself.
Or perhaps waiting here is a fools errand.
He grimaces and looks away from Mun.
Kolgradd Thunderiron |
"Lowls sent you here to get the book then? While he went off to meet this Biting Lash? Have you found it?"
My apologies if I'm losing the plot here! Is there anywhere left we haven't exploired? Kolgradd would be wanting to find Elder Lythiin as quickly as possible and not dally with his old friend here
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
"No. We both went in and found it. Then he left with it for Biting Lash. He should be back any minute now."
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Perhaps after we are done here Giving a report to the elder outside? we could go meet up with Lowls and tell him to that you're waiting here for him!
Jevar can technically get us there by preparing two teleports a day for two days.
Kolgradd Thunderiron |
"How did he leave? A teleportation spell?"
He looks at Jevar significantly and begins an examination of the air around him.
Maybe an Identify Magic looking for the expected Planar Seal type effect of the wards? If he can use Occultism he'd get the +1 from his Eldritch Researcher dedication :)
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
"How did he leave? A teleportation spell?"
”Yup, teleportation.”
Now here’s the thing, planar seal is REALLY powerful magic. Like, a 60-foot burst requires a rank 7, uncommon spell. Even though these guys ARE very magically adept, they’re not THAT magically adept. So no, The wards on the Mysterium do not include anything to prevent teleportation.
However, Kolgradd still feels as if something is…wrong. While it has nothing to do with the wards upon the Mysterium, he still feels as if Lowls teleporting away with the Necronomicon does not add up. It is something itching the back of his mind that he cannot quite place.
And at this point I feel like we’ve been in this scene long enough. So I must ask: what do y’all plan to do? Mun has clearly lost his mind and foolishly believes that Lowls will be back any moment now, despite the overwhelming evidence that the count has clearly abandoned his companion.
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Is there a way to run down the "something off"? I presume not sense motive since Mun believes what he's saying.
Kolgradd Thunderiron |
Kolgradd moves out of earshot of Mun and motions the others over.
"He's too far gone. We should hand him into the guards for justice and complete our search of this place. If Lowls has already left with the book we must hurry in pursuit, but something doesn't feel right. We must find Elder Lythiin too"
Can we drag him back to the entrance, give him to the guards and tell them he's one of the thieves, then come back here?
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Y'all cannot leave. The guards refuse to open the front doors until the wards have been reset. Also, good luck trying to convince Mun to leave that room.
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Jevar frowns at the little they got out of this interaction after the violence ended.
Well... I guess we can proceed to find the mechanisms of the wards here.
Fair enough, ready to continue. Have we been everywhere on this floor. I somehow missed how we got from the last level to this one.
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
I somehow missed how we got from the last level to this one.
Spiral staircase that disappeared. You can make it reappear by using a key nailed to the wall on a conspicuous keyhole in the middle of that same wall.
With Mun’s strange ramblings and unfortunate state of mind, the former-amnesiacs decide to leave him to his own devices and set their priorities on resetting the Mysterium’s wards.
Making a U-Turn
The former-amnesiacs come face-to-face with an open passageway that has been barricaded with knocked-over shelves stacked on top of one another. The inside of the room beyond is utter chaos. Shelves are torn from the walls, books are shredded, and the place smells of nervous sweat and human waste.
Kolgradd spots several robed individuals in the room, each bearing insignia identical to the Nethysian guards outside of the Mysterium.
As soon as these Nethysians notice the former-amnesiacs, they all draw iron staves that they expertly wield and take up a defensive stance.
”G-get out of here! Find your own refuge!”
As soon as anyone tries to talk them down or be diplomatic whatsoever: ”No! Nononono! Don’t let them talk!”
Jevar Diplomacy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (10) + 16 = 26
Kolgradd: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 21 + 2 = 31
Shohreh Diplomacy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
Mind-Shattered Guards Intimidation: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
FYI, the brown rectangle on the map (directly left of Kolgradd) is the barricade. It provides cover and can be either Climbed over or Forced Open (or attacked/damaged).

Kolgradd Thunderiron |
"Folgrit give me patience!"
With a sigh Kolgradd whips up a little protective magic and starts working on the barricade.
I'm assuming "Using your hammer to force open the barricade" is best represented by a Strike, and Force Open would need a crowbar or at least a free hand?
◆ Strike the barricade
Longhammer: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (1) + 23 = 24
Dammit. Let's use the hero point
Longhammer: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (13) + 23 = 36
Bludgeoning: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) + 8 = 19 Cold: 1d6 ⇒ 5 Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 1
◆ Strike the barricade?
Longhammer: 1d20 + 23 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 23 - 5 = 32
Bludgeoning: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) + 8 = 16 Cold: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 2
"There's a lot of them, and they seem a bit crazed!"
With his final action I feel like Kolgradd should probably get out of the way to give access for some area of effect stuff. If the barrier is down he could go in a bit, otherwise he'd have to step back. I'll put two copies of him on htere
◆ Stride
Shohreh Kassar |
Shohreh frowns as the poor fools move to attack, then sighs. "Try not to kill them, they're out of their minds."
Daze vs Purple, DC 31 basic Will: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6) = 16
◆◆ Cast daze
◆ Step
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Jevar sighs. Yes, this group doesn't seem aware if they are walking into their own doom.
He steps behind Kolgradd the one just through the door, and into the room and commands their frontman to drop his staff.
◆ Stride
◇ Drain familiar (level 1)
◆◆ Cast a spell: Command GREEN to release weapon (DC 31)
Success The creature is unaffected.
Failure The creature must spend the first action on its next turn to obey your command.
Critical Failure The target must use all its actions on its next turn to obey your command.
We have no need to harm you. Please speak with us!
Boodiddly |
"That's right!" Boodiddly adds. "Can we all please just calm down and talk!?" In the likely event that they don't, the gnome hums nervously to steady himself - and his companions.
Casting calm emotions (Rank 5, Will DC 31, affecting all enemies except Purple) [AA] and inspire defense [A].
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Boodiddly tries to calm everyone down.
Orange: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (15) + 21 = 36
Yellow: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
Green: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (7) + 21 = 28
Blue: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
In much the same way as Miacknian Mun, Green simply begins to stand there as Boodiddly’s calm takes effect.
Kolgradd easily tears down the barrier and moves in. Keep the Hero Point; it’s not difficult to hit the barrier.
Shohreh tries to incapacitate Purple.
Purple basic Will: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (14) + 21 = 35
Jevar moves in and commands a guard to release their weapon. Redirecting the target to Blue, since Green is calmed.
Blue Will: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (13) + 21 = 34
The guards then do something…very strange. All of the guards (except Blue and Green) all ◆ Drop Prone. Those guards then each ◆◆ Cast the same Spell, which ◇ Jevar immediately recognizes as an arcane draw the lightning
I did not want to start a weird discourse of “who’s taller than whom,” so I figured the easiest way to do this is to have each of them fall prone so that y’all are technically “higher in the air.” I know that wording was more likely meant for flying stuff, but this still feels appropriate for the flavor of the spell. Plus it made them waste an action to make it work, so I think that’s balanced.
Also, rolling the Arcana check from Jevar to see if he gets a crit success (for the +1 to his save).
Jevar Arcana; “DC 33”: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (1) + 25 = 26 No, but because he’s a master he can’t get less than a success.
Several bolts of lightning come down and strike at the former-amnesiacs before bouncing to the guards’ metal staves! Purple goes at Boodiddly, Yellow at Jevar, and Red and Orange at Kolgradd.
Kolgradd: 1d20 + 18 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 18 + 1 = 28 Success
Orange Damage: 3d12 ⇒ (9, 9, 12) = 30
Kolgradd: 1d20 + 18 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 18 + 1 = 33 Success
Yellow Damage: 3d12 ⇒ (10, 7, 7) = 24
Jevar: 1d20 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 20 + 1 = 22 Failure --> Crit Failure (nat 1)
Purple Damage: 3d12 ⇒ (8, 8, 9) = 25
Boodiddly; Unexpected Shift: 1d20 + 19 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 19 + 1 + 2 = 24 Failure
↻ Boodiddly Unexpected Shift; DC 16: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Each of the guards then ◇ Kips Up.
Blue, however, does something different. That guard holds his staff deftly, being able to reach Kolgradd as he does a ◆◆ Spellstrike! ↻ Jevar knows that it’s a rank 5 gouging claw. That also triggers from Kolgradd.
↻ Kolgradd RS vs Blue: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (18) + 23 = 41
Damage (doubled from crit): 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 3, 7) + 8 = 19 Cold Damage (doubled from crit): 1d6 ⇒ 6 Fire Damage (doubled from crit): 1d6 ⇒ 1
Blue Fort vs Crit Spec: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26
The save vs. frost is irrelevant since Kolgradd did it on a Reactive Strike.
Steady Spellcaster; DC 15 flat: 1d20 ⇒ 15 Spell is NOT disrupted.
The metal staff Blue wields is strangely magnetized, so he gets a +1 circumstance bonus to hit Kolgradd since Kolgradd is wearing metal armor.
Blue Spellstrike vs Kolgradd w/inspire defense; calmed, prone, vs metal armor: 1d20 + 19 - 1 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 19 - 1 - 2 + 1 = 27
Damage: 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (3, 1) + 11 = 15
Gouging Claw Damage: 6d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 5, 1, 6) = 21 plus 6 persistent bleed
1 is P, 2 is S: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Blue then siphons the remaining magical energy into his staff. ◆ Arcane Cascade He then ◇ Kips Up.

Can Jevar hero point the reflex save?
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Can Jevar hero point the reflex save?
I'll allow it.
Reroll: 1d20 + 20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 20 + 1 = 27
That's actually a success, so you only took 12 damage. I'll have that reflected in the initiative card when I next post the enemies' turns.
Kolgradd Thunderiron |
"We're not your enemies you idiots!"
Seeing all the weapons crackling with electricity, Kolgradd weaves some magic of his own.
◆◆ Cast Mirror Image
He tries to smash some sense into the guards, trying to disable rather than destroy.
◆ Strike
Strike vs. Blue, nonlethal: 1d20 + 23 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 23 - 2 = 31
Bludgeoning: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (1, 6, 2) + 8 = 17 Cold: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Funny thought: it doesn't require touch but does Mirror Image impede application of haste?
Jevar speeds up Kolgradd.
◆◆ Cast a spell: Haste on Kolgradd
He looks over the hostile group, sighs, and exits the room again.
◆ Stride
Boodiddly |
Boodiddly tries again to de-escalate the situation.
Casting rank 5 calm emotions (Will DC 31) affecting everyone except Purple [AA]. Third action depends on the outcome - if Green fails a second time, then there’s no need to sustain the existing spell and he can cast inspire defense [A]. If not, he’ll likely want to Sustain [A].
Shohreh Kassar |
Shohreh strides into the room after Kolgradd and, disregarding her own previous warning, blasts the lot of them with void energy.
◆ Stride
◆◆ Cast enervation, DC 31 Fort
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Boodiddly once again tries to calm everyone down.
Orange: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22
Yellow: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (12) + 21 = 33
Green: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30
Blue: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40
Boodiddly then sings. First casting of calm fizzles, but that doesn’t really matter since the result of the second casting is basically the same.
Kolgradd casts a spell and attacks Blue. Hit.
Shohreh moves forward and sends a wave of void energy at the guards!
Yellow: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
Green: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
Blue: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
And that ends the calm on Green (but not Blue, since he crit-failed). Also, I put the reduced HP from drained in the initiative card as damage, because otherwise I’ll forget (it’s different from what I do with players).
Jevar quickens Kolgradd. Jevar now can’t see any of the enemies, so can’t Recognize Spell.
Red ◆ Strides forward and does a ◆◆ Spellstrike! Triggers from Kolgradd. Assuming that you would do nonlethal.
↻ Kolgradd RS vs Red; nonlethal: 1d20 + 23 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 23 - 2 = 38 Could you please stop critting my guys XD
Nonlethal Damage (doubled from crit): 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (2, 8, 2) + 8 = 20 Nonlethal Cold Damage (doubled from crit): 1d6 ⇒ 2 Nonlethal Fire Damage (doubled from crit): 1d6 ⇒ 3
The save against frost is irrelevant, since it’s a Reactive Strike.
Red Fort vs crit spec; drained 1 | DC 30: 1d20 + 18 - 1 ⇒ (19) + 18 - 1 = 36
Steady Spellcaster | DC 15 flat: 1d20 ⇒ 15 Wow.

Green then ◆ Casts a Spell while spinning his staff, magically increasing the momentum of his staff until he brings the momentum upon both Kolgradd and Shohreh! He makes two Strike, each against a different creature; MAP applies normally.
Green vs Kolgradd w/inspire defense; 2nd, vs. metal armor: 1d20 + 19 - 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 19 - 5 + 1 = 27

Sustain [A] and cast shield [A] and rallying anthem [A].
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Screw it.
Boodiddly maintains his spell then protects himself and his allies.
Botting Kolgradd: Kolgradd casts shield, enters his Disruptive Stance, then begins attacking.
Kolgradd vs Red; nonlethal: 1d20 + 23 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 23 - 2 = 31

Steady Spellcaster | DC 15 flat: 1d20 ⇒ 13
The rules are really unclear with how this particular disruption works, since the triggering thing wasn’t the Spellstrike (which has neither manipulate nor concentrate), but the subordinate Cast a Spell. The rules do give the GM some leeway in deciding what happens with a disruption, so I’m gonna say that the thing that got disrupted was the spell, not the Spellstrike. Thus, Yellow can still make a Strike, just not with the spell attached to it. And since Yellow still did a Spellstrike, Yellow will have to do the stuff needed to recharge it.
Yellow vs Kolgradd w/rallying anthem & shield; calmed, vs metal armor: 1d20 + 19 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 19 - 1 + 1 = 27
Damage: 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (6, 5) + 11 = 22 Electricity Damage: 1d12 ⇒ 10 plus 2 force
Pops the last image.
Yellow then ◆ Casts a Spell, causing it to crackle with electrical energy.
I’ll probably keep the “no property runes on staves” thing because I can see where it’s coming from (especially with you being unable to put property runes on specific magic weapons), but I’ll say that these guys putting this property rune on their staff is kosher.
Purple ◆ casts the same spell as Yellow same rune then ◆ enters his Arcane Cascade and attacks Kolgradd!
◆ Purple vs Kolgradd w/rallying anthem & shield; vs metal armor: 1d20 + 19 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 19 + 1 = 35

↻ Boodiddly Unexpected Shift | DC 16 flat: 1d20 ⇒ 5
EDIT: Oh my gosh, I'm so stupid. Orange can't attack because of the calm. Too many things going on at once, so I forgot. So Orange would still be in the corner and Kolgradd would still have one more image.
Purple Attack; hits on a 1: 1d2 ⇒ 2
NOW he's out of images.

Jevar Shadowmantle |
Jevar yells out from invisibility.
I'm going to try to seal them off with a temporary wall of force.
Deception(T): 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
◇ Drain familiar: rank 2
◆◆ Cast a spell: Illusory object at rank 2. Fake wall marked on the map.
Just in case that doesn't work...
◆ Cast a spell: Shield
Kolgradd Thunderiron |
Thanks for the botting, I am returned now
Kolgradd nods at Jevar's plan, and watching him begin the incantation he judges he can get a couple of swings in before the wall goes up...
◆ Strike At green
Long Hammer, nonlethal: 1d20 + 23 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 23 - 2 = 26
Bludgeoning: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (5, 7, 7) + 8 = 27 Cold: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 6
◆ Strike At green
Long Hammer, nonlethal, MAP: 1d20 + 23 - 2 - 5 ⇒ (13) + 23 - 2 - 5 = 29
Bludgeoning: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (5, 7, 5) + 8 = 25 Cold: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Fire: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Then as he brings the brings the hammer back between them, he snaps it close to his body and brings his own force shield up in time with Jevar's
◆ Cast Shield
Shohreh Kassar |
Shohreh strides back to the relative safety of the hallway, hurling a migraine at her attacker in the process.
Daze vs Blue, DC 31 basic Will: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2) = 12
Boodiddly |
"Please, they don’t have to die!" Boodiddly continues his wards and his serenity, hoping Jevar’s wall will let them disengage.
Sustain [A] and cast rallying anthem [A] and shield [A].
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Hero Points have reset.
Boodiddly continues singing.
Kolgradd attacks Green. First one misses, second one hits. You also had another action from haste, so I’m gonna assume another Strike at Green.
Kolgradd vs Green; 3rd, Nonlethal: 1d20 + 23 - 10 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 23 - 10 - 2 = 22
Nonlethal Damage: 3d8 + 8 ⇒ (6, 2, 5) + 8 = 21 Nonlethal Cold Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Nonlethal Fire Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Shohreh sends a headache at Blue to knock him out.
Blue basic Will: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (1) + 21 = 22 Which knocks out Blue.
Jevar then summons a wall between the two sides of the combat.
Brain isn’t really working right now, so just gonna let Purple and Green buff with both haste and shield (Purple)/runic impression (Green) since they’re unsure of if the wall is real or illusory.
I’m also just gonna have Yellow cast shield and Ready an attack. He could probably try to disbelieve, but I’m not feeling up to figuring that out right now.
Void Damage to Green: 4d8 ⇒ (7, 3, 2, 1) = 13
DC 15 flat: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Now, it’s entirely possible y’all could take this opportunity to just, well…leave. But I’m gonna keep things in initiative just in case.
EDIT: Forgot about Shohreh’s bleed.

Jevar Shadowmantle |
Jevar decides to use the benefit of his invisibility to move through the enemies and inspect the room they reside in.
I did not adjust these for invisibility
◆ Sneak (Stealth, expert): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39
◆ Sneak (Stealth, expert): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
◆ Seek, anything interesting in the room?
Perception (E): 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
Kolgradd Thunderiron |
Kolgradd raises his shield again, and thoroughly inspects the wall given what he knows of Jevar's spells.
◆ Cast Shield
◆ Seek to Disbelieve
Will: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40
As he starts to resolve what's on the other side of the illusory wall, he studies the addle-brained guards.
◆ Recall Knowledge about their affliction?
I'll forgo the hasted Strike/Stride
Boodiddly |
Boodiddly repeats the refrain, waiting to see where Jevar has gone.
Same as last round - Sustain and cast rallying anthem and shield.
Jevar Shadowmantle |
I can never remember/quickly figure out how invisibility affects this in 2e
◆ Sneak (stealth): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
◆ Sneak (stealth): 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (14) + 19 = 33
Jevar then whispers to his companions.
Folks, I'm back. There is nothing of interest in there. I suggest we quietly step away a distance before the illusion runs out.
He then re-appears again on this other side of the "wall".
◆ Dismiss: Invisibility
GM Xavier Kahlvet |
Hero Point to Jevar and Boodiddly for their efforts in minimizing casualties in that last combat. Handwaving healing.
To the eastern room
A preternatural stench hangs in the air here among the vandalism and chaos of the chamber. Remnants of bent, broken, and gnawed cages litter the room, along with mounds of books and papers. Blocks of stone from the ceiling and walls litter the ground, partially obscuring another angelic gate.
As the former-amnesiacs enter the room, they come face-to-face with a massive spiderlike creature with crablike pincers, tentacles, and a face containing eyeless sockets.
Jevar: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (20) + 18 = 38
Kolgradd: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 21 + 2 = 39
Shohreh: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (15) + 21 = 36

Shohreh Kassar |
"Another friendly face," Shohreh says dryly, reaching a hand out to smother the monster's lifeforce before it can even take a step toward them.
Harm (6th-rank), DC 31 basic Fort: 6d10 ⇒ (7, 4, 3, 9, 10, 6) = 39
◆ Cast Down
◆◆ Cast 6th-rank harm. If it takes any damage, it is knocked prone. If it critically fails, it is drained 1.
Jevar Shadowmantle |
Jevar's eyes widen at the sight of it.
This one I think we can just go hard on and take out!
He begins by once again speeding up Kolgradd.
◇ Drain familiar (3rd rank)
◆◆ Cast a spell: Haste on Kolgradd
◆ Cast a spell: Shield
