"You should know, Kisandra came to us for aid." Ulricha says to the imprisoned noble, hoping the words would gain his trust enough to stay put until they had everything under their control.
He looks up with even more hope and asks, "What news can you tell me about my daughter? Is she safe? Where did you come from?" He looks malnourished but shimmies up to the jail door with manacles restraining him.
Jorrast Feorte -Human |
Seeing the lock jammed Jorrast swears quietly for a moment, then gets back up tucking his tools away. "That one's jammed. Unless someone can break it, or rust it apart, it's stuck."
He moves out of the way in case anyone else can get it open.
Alice Emmington |
Alice sees the attempt of opening the lock go bust.
When Jorrast asks for forceful measures,
"Allow me."
Those looking her in the face see her eyes go pitch black as the void of space, as she makes a hand gedture. The captured man finds himself abruptly pulled through a small shimmering tear in the space next to him, and he now reappears outside of his cell in a similar fashion.
Ulricha the Unkillable |
Ulricha smiles as Alice uses her relocating magic, much to the surprise of the haggard noble. "She is safe." she says, steadying the man on his feet. "We hail from Greenwatch, and she has been through much t get to us and find help against Drelev and his vile allies. You should be proud, she is very brave."
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
Huh, nice trick! And you didnt need a bag of holding type 4 for that exfiltration unlike some ladies I know.
Markus appreciatively nods at Alice.
How often can you do this and what is the range? Can you teleport heavy things above enemies? Does it have to be a person? Can you do this to foes? Like, rearranging their positioning in combat by like, pulling the mage in front of the fronliners is highly effective!
Oh, if you ever shout "People's Elbow", I will ready myself to get teleported above some foe! Let them know that gravity is a harsh mistress!

Her eyes back to their own color, she looks sideways at Markus with a small smile.
"I can use it once on a specific person per day. Other than that, it can be used on any number of people during that day. But yes, people only."She slightly shakes her head.
"But it does not seem to work on those who harbor ill feelings towards me. Friends and allies only. But i can teleport you into the air and let gravity do its thing, sure."
A spark of mischief, or perhaps a moment of inspiration.
"I don't know if it works, but if someone could come to think of me as their friend or ally, then maybe it works? I haven not tried that yet."
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
One of the reasons why I hold... "Amber", in reasonably high regard is her personal comittment to hygiene and cleanliness. It may sound shocking, but if you are fighting in the Abyss as a non teleporter, and get teleported while in bags of holding a lot, you really appreciate someone who cleans her bag after every transport, and like, actual cleaning not just some prestigitation. It kind of weird how bad the smell in a bag of holding can get, especially if it was used to transport non teleport capable demons before, like, nearly all of them smell horribly, even if there actually isnt any air inside the bag.
Markus thinks to himself
On the other hand, its good preperation against stinking cloud spells. Overall I am also reasonably happy that to my knowledge there arent any telepaths in this party!
Mostly for fun, Markus wouldnt say that in character.
Jorne Fyrestone Stavian |
He asks to prod others to actions but still asks, "Shall I escort Lord Terrion Numesti to the priestess or our camp?"
He hands the man his waterskin and pulls out some rations too.
Xandarian Quartermain |
"That's a great idea, Jorne!" Xandarian agrees.
Ulricha the Unkillable |
"Yes, I'm sure a healer would do him good!" Ulricha agrees.
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
Let me handle these manacles
str to break manacles: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 3 = 27
Focusing his fury, Markus, quite surgically, breaks one of the connecting chains.
May need a locksmith to properly remove them, but at least you are no longer restrained.
Jorrast Feorte -Human |
"That hatch above back there opens into a cramped room and appears to be small passageways within the walls. Could be secret doors into any number of rooms. Might only be room for little folk though. I was going to scout in my fox form."
Jorne Fyrestone Stavian |
He nods as no one else was willing to check him out, "My lord, if you will I will carry you at least until the tunnel." With consent he gently picks up the man in a princess hold. He quickly exits the room back the way the group came.

"Could be. Here, have some luck."
Alice casts guidance on Jorast when he leaves to explore.
Looking at the others, "So we've gotten him out of jail. But i really hope the other rooms don't include swarms of vermin."
Ulricha the Unkillable |
"We should get through them quickly, then either get out, taking him to safety, or find Drelev and put him down." Ulricha says as they move forward.
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
Likely some additional Demons. The Schir was packing more heat then is normal for a Schir, I do know that Ember has abilities beyond that of the average of her kind, meaning we know of 2 like, demons with enchanced abilities, but barely encounter "rank and file" demons.
Markus opines.
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
Lets strike the iron while it is still reasonably hot. Markus adds and is ready to go, with about 30 feet distance, after the Kitsune rouge.
Quince Medvyed |
"Keep our new friend safe Jorne."
"Let's move out."
Xandarian Quartermain |
Well, the group needs to bug out and leave. Xandarian, seeing the lord is still alive, goes back and picks up his armor and weapons to return to him.
Actions and words spoken please.
WHOOPS! Posted this in Discussion! MY bad!
Jorrast Feorte -Human |
"I'm going to check out the small space above. Only good for little people, so...." He changes back into fox shape and flies up through the trap door in the ceiling and starts exploring.
Checking out the "room that is connected to many passages that are cramped but seem to be built within walls" from your post, in fox form. If nothing interesting is found, also the ladder leading to another trap door on the ceiling? Was that 'M14. Cloakroom'?
Perception to find that trap door. I don't think I had rolled it?: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (18) + 13 = 31
stealth while sneaking around the area?: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (7) + 26 = 33
Taking time to search the area thoroughly, with Detect Magic active.
GM Wolf |
Jorrast comes back after a half hour or so and relays... the location of some notable figures, some black robed demonic things, and a general lack of people in the fort. Out in the courtyard there is a pretty Demonic lady and a bunch of guards or thugs.
More details are to come... I am away from my chromebook.
M25: banquet room, Lord Drelev obviously possessed by a demon with glowing red eyes, black charred skin and a fire halo above two large horns. There are 8 vacant looking armed guards and four blacked robed Demonic figures, likely they are possessed too.
M34: A figure sleeps in a bed.
The library is well used. Books are opened on the tables, along with lots of paper, and maps.
M37: Obviously is the baroness's room she sleeps in the bed.
M39: This guest room has been taken over by cultists holding black crying orbs. Eight of the Demonic robed figures sit or stand in the room.
M40: instead of a bed dominating the room there is a bath filled with blood, several bodies lie around and a poor fellow is locked to the wall, hysterical but hopeless.
Let me know if you want to investigate anything more.
Xandarian Quartermain |
"Excellent work, Jorrast!" Xandarian exclaims. "Um, if someone has a bag of holding, can they hang on to the Lord's armor and weapons, until they are reunited?"
Jorrast Feorte |
Jorrast returns to the group after a half hour of sneaking around. He maps out what he had seen. "Not very many in the building. Lord Drelev.... If there were a way to get rid of the demon could he be turned back into a human? Or is he a lost cause? Let the Gods sort out his soul.... Anyway, he's easy to spot. Glowing red eyes, and a fiery halo over his two big horns."
"Anyway, the guards with Lord Drelev were standing around like zombies. Eight of them but they don't look dangerous. Four demon possessed in black robes. Cultists maybe?"
"There's a pretty demon lady out in the courtyard. I thought Markus might be interested...." He grins at Markus when he mentions her. "And I think I found the baroness's room. If it's her, she's sleeping."
"I also found a guest room with eight more cultists with the black robes. They were just standing around holding some black orbs. Possibly scrying? If they're watching the area we might want to head there first to take them out?"
"And the last bedroom was rather disgusting. No bed, but they re[placed it with a large bath, full of blood. There were a number of dead bodies, and one poor guy shackled to the wall. I might have tried to rescue him, but he seemed hysterical and I didn't want to break stealth."
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
If its Ember, its best to negotiate with her from a position of strength, ideally after unmessing the Baron. Markus opines
We have some protection from evil spells to hit the baron with?

"Yes and no. I've requested the communal today, but not the single person variant."

Quince nods, "I have a bag of holding."
"Not sure how it will work against possession but I can cast 'Surpress Charms and Compulsions' though that might be more useful to protect us from magical charming wiles."
Xandarian Quartermain |
The half-azata states, "Her charms won't work on me. But my Smite Evil will work on her! Let's go, Boffy!!"

"I would rather we subdue the baron, and use that spell to protect us, than using and potentially wasting the effect on him. It also prevents others from controlling our minds."
