Xandarian Quartermain |

Round 4
Xan keeps booking it! Oh look a shortcut! Looks like a DC 19 athletics or acrobatics check, your choice! Or keeping dashing.
Boffy jumps into Xandarian's leg, which is often a sigh the hare wants the paladin attention. Boffy point to small unexposed portion of the battlements that they can go through.
Acrobatics (with armor check penalty): 1d20 + 1 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 1 - 5 = -2Okay. I need a GM ruling on this. Xandarian is in the negatives for Acrobatics. Is he stuck?

Jorne laughs as he slices through and takes down two of the trolls. He then says to Quince, "just drop the fireball on me. I will heal besides my fire resistance."
Vandomir's arrows pierce the trolls hide as it goes into the fog. Then it slips into the trench, and gets up. Taking multiple attacks from ZSofia and Chizzlall most of them striking. Zsófia laughs with the elation of battle as one of the trolls comes lumbering into the obscuring mist and stumbles into the trench. Poised to strike inside its reach, she launches a slashing thrust at the creature's massive belly.

Chizzlall Ironshaper |

Round 6
Chizzlall looks at the approaching troll with resigned resolve. He motions to Rumbles to engage, and as the rivercat rushes at it through the mist he stabs at it with his polearm. He glowers at it as he wonders if this troll is related to those who drove him and his family out of their home, but it looks like any other troll to him. "Sic 'em, boy-cat!" he mutters, directing Rumbles to swiftly attack again once they are adjacent.

Xan begins to slide down the shortcut and finds his foot getting caught in a hole. Gravity takes hold and he falls forward onto his face. [dice=damage]1d6 with a likely twisted ankle.
"AAAHH!" The aasimar shouts as his foot gets pinned by hole in the ground. Xandarian spends this round carefully removing his injured foot from the hole.

Jorrast Feorte |

Seeing the battle well in hand and his bad luck with the wands Jorrast decides to take a look farther out while his invisibility is still working. He flies up and ahead to see what is driving the army.
Up another 20 or so and about 40' forward. Looking for anything more dangerous than what we currently see. ??

Vandomir Jarvis |

Alice Emmington |

The mists still obstructing view, Alice chants to prolong the protective luck hex on Ulricha and Hot Dog.

Quince Medvyed |

Round 6
Satisfied with a larger boom. Quince winks at Jorne and darts to the left nimbly.
Moving with Acrobatics to avoid AOO: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Black might have been close enough to have an AOO. The real point of the moving was to round the other side of orange to give Jorne flanking.
Popping up from a flip and roll Quince brings his flame-tongue to bear on the troll. He howls with rage.

Slight retcon
Round 5--------------
miss chance high is always good for me: 1d100 ⇒ 32
Instead of retreating to his original position, Markus advances (rather then returning past the trench) after failing to succesfully spring attack the troll in the mist due to concealment.

Round 6
Does the big guy have combat reflexes? Probably does.

GM Wolf |

Round 6
Alice chants! Zsofia, Chizzlall, and Rumbles takes the troll down and it falls mostly in the trench. Jorne barely bloody, well covered in troll blood, takes down two more trolls. Vandomir shoots his arrows and thinks they hit... maybe not.
5d20 ⇒ (20, 19, 17, 9, 20) = 85
Red and Yellow trolls retreat! The goblins cower where they stand as many of them are captured by stinging vines. The barbrians push forward hacking at the vines. They should be free by next round.
Ulricha releases arrows towards the trolls... she knows one of them hit their mark at least at the howl from the troll.
Markus springs forward and trips the orange troll at the end of the round.
Round 7
Jorne rushes forward with his halberd in his two hands winding up to cleave once more. But he just double moved, he is winding up for next round!
The orange troll tries to get up and is laid low by Quince and Markus together.

Ulricha the Unkillable |

Seeing the frontline trolls all perish, with the barbarians and goblins advancing in the distance, Ulricha grabs a potion from her belt, quickly drinks it, and slings the bow over her shoulder as she prepares to charge into the fray, her skin taking on a dark, iron grey cast.
Drink Potion of Ironskin: AC goes up to 23

Xandarian Quartermain |

Round 7
Xandarian hobbles closer to the battle. Given myself a reduced speed of 15 ft, due to the sprained ankle.

Alice Emmington |

I don't see a group of soldiers form a volley line, but if they are great in number, the spell targets them. If not, this spell is aimed at the trolls and leader in the far right.
Alice recites an incantation similar to the entangle spell, but thorny vegetation sprouts as well.
Thorny entanglement. DC 19 reflex vs rooted, entering and ending a turn = automatic 2d6 piercing dmg. At an enemy's turn, the nearby plants fling projectiles for 2d6 dmg.

Vandomir Jarvis |

Jorrast Feorte |

Seeing the running troll move up to the advancing soldiers Jorrast decides to try the wand of fireballs again.... UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13
Oh well.... Are there more troops farther out?

GM Wolf |

Vandomier are you flying and shooting? Otherwise you can't see the targets. They have the height advantage.
I didn't think you would engage with the soldiers but okay. They are about 200 feet back from the first entangle spell.
Round 7
Ulricha double moves forward and pulls, then drinks a potion on the way to the battle field.
Xandarian hobbles out of the smoke looking worst for wear.

He cleaves through the barbarians but does not drop any of them. Large slashing wounds appear on their bodies though.

Jorrast Feorte |

Jorrast spots more troops inbound but stays where he is, flying back a little and gaining a bit more altitude. He tries the wand again to see if he can whittle the troll and the troops down a little....

Ulricha the Unkillable |

Round 7+8
Striding forward into battle, Ulricha breaks into a jog, which turns into a full-on run, covering ground far more quickly than someone would expect someone her size to move, she hooks to her right, making a bee-line for a goblin behind Jorne, racing forward to plant her axe deep in the enemy.

Jorrast Feorte |

UMD Invisibility wand: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

GM Wolf |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Round 8
Quince's fireball burns the goblins and they explode, they likely had pints of oil and other viotile compounds. The barbarians dive away from the spell and seem to appear with few burns. Jorrast became visible, 60 to 80 feet up, he scrambles to pull out another wand then disappears again. Ulricha plants her axe deep into the goblin slicing it in half. Vandomir had just finished climbing the steps up the gulley now at its top he releases two arrows both of them are deflected from the barbarians obvious magical defenses. Markus springs forward and nearly topples from the strike before moving again.
The barbarians scatter so to not be struck by more fireballs, the front ones charge forward.
8d20 ⇒ (7, 5, 16, 16, 4, 11, 9, 18) = 86 None of them can even strike Jorne and are astounded, they all drop to the ground dropping their axes. One of them speaks out a prayer to Gorum. One of them prays to Pharasma. One just stops as the last asks, "Oh masterswordsman please show mercy. Please don't smite us divine one!"
As the thorny vegetation begins to devastate the soldiers in the back line break formation to begin to flee. Though they soon find a wall of fire before them...
12 barbarians stand around Quince, trying to hack him with their axes.
4d20 ⇒ (15, 5, 3, 15) = 38
Round 9
The twelve barbarians around Quince seem disturbed at seeing their fellows drop before Jorne but pushed by each other they swing. Missing every time once again astonished by this they call for mercy and drop their weapons. Their leader drops all of his weapons, begins walking forward slowly, and states, "We have sworn oaths to the weak, please take me as a sacrifice that my warriors may live and to grow strong in your shadow."
18d20 ⇒ (14, 13, 17, 6, 15, 13, 8, 16, 12, 18, 7, 7, 3, 9, 7, 12, 8, 8) = 193
Xandarian comes onto the stage of war, though only a few trolls remain who are running, then the barbarians are swearing loyalty, the goblins are all dead, and the soldiers in the far field are in disarray.
End of combat.... go ahead and mop up! Please state your actions and decisions.

Jorne Fyrestone Stavian |

He thunderously commands, "Stay there and there will be mercy but if you stand you will not live the day!" With that he goes invisible.
Soon enough Jorrast and likely others see him appear at the fleeing trolls back and summarily cuts it to pieces. He looks up and calls, "Jorrast if you are nearby or anyone with a wand of greater invisibility please bless me."

Xandarian Quartermain |

Round 9
Xandarian comes onto the stage of war, though only a few trolls remain who are running, then the barbarians are swearing loyalty, the goblins are all dead, and the soldiers in the far field are in disarray.
The caydenite paladin stands on the remains of the battlefield in a disheartened shock.
I missed it. Xandarian thought. I'm alive, but I missed it.
"Well. I guess I better make sure Miss Alice gets her ale", the aasimar said to himself. "Come on, Boffy."
Xandarian rejoins the others and to find out what to do next.

Alice Emmington |

Her transformation still lasting 6 more minutes, Alice flies up to do a quick look for stragglers.
Satisfied none remain near the battlefield, she heads down.
"Well that was a surprising ending.", she says to none in particular, still flying for as long as she is in pixie form.
Heading over to Xandarian, flying at about shoulder height,
"So what did you do, to get that sprained ankle. A daring jump?
If so, you may want to get some trinket to slow your fall."

Ulricha the Unkillable |

Ulricha cleans her axe as the battle comes to an end, watching as the remaining enemies surrender or are dispatched. It was quite a victory, and yet, she felt rather hollow.
Were she and the other mercenaries recruited even necessary? The man, Jorne practically won the battle himself, such was the power of the few who had brought them here to defend the town.
Shrugging she releases her rage, joining the others to see what would be required of them next.

Xandarian Quartermain |

Heading over to Xandarian, flying at about shoulder height,
"So what did you do, to get that sprained ankle. A daring jump?
If so, you may want to get some trinket to slow your fall."
"Battelfield injury", Xandarian states glumly. "Wrenched it in a hole in the battements. How are you doing?"
Boffy just stares longingly up at Alice's pixie form.
Alice Emmington |

Battelfield injury", Xandarian states glumly. "Wrenched it in a hole in the battements. How are you doing?"
Boffy just stares longingly up at Alice's pixie form.
"I'm doing just fine, thank you for asking.
It was actually pretty funny to see armies stuck in vegetation. I hope that Jorne does not ever get dominated, that man is a beast."With her heightened senses of perception and getting reads on people, she looks back at Boffy, her head slightly tilted left.
"A curious familiar, in more way than one.
There is a particular sentience from this fluffy companion of yours."
"So pardon me for asking, fluffy one.
Is this your native tongue?"

Xandarian Quartermain |

Cayden Dammit! Why isn't she talking in a language I can understand Boffy ponders inwardly. You'd think after shagging so much pixie poon, I'd pick up a few words. Arggh! And I don't want to end the game just yet! Drat! I guess I'll go with an old standby.
Boffy the Hare does his best to look as adorable as possible. Think Thumper from Bambi

Vandomir Jarvis |

Vandomir stows his bow, and directs Rocinian to move among the fallen enemies. Vandomir is seeking out any wounded. "Enough have fallen this day, No more souls need tread the paths of the shadows."

Alice Emmington |

Alice reaches slowly for Boffy, if he allows, and scratches behind an ear.
"He doesn't understand that particular speech. It was a guess, but a wrong one."
"Where did you pick up this hare?", she asks Xandarian.
Meanwhile her own familiar perches on her shoulder, equally curious about the answer.

Xandarian Quartermain |

The paladin smiles proudly. "Elysium. By way of Cayden Cailean's Domain. Yes, Boffy is infused with the spirit and energy of that plane."
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Boffy enjoys the ear scratch immensely, looking at the pixie form with desire.

Jorrast Feorte |

Jorrast is surprised when the barbarians surrender but he flies after the fleeing trolls. When he hears Jorne call for invisibility he tries using the wand again....
UMD: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24 Success!
but then realizes that he can't just blast at trolls randomly without risking burning Jorne!
"Good hunting!"
