Apologies for disappearing. I was informed my whole team (except myself) had been fired, which caused some non-negligible psychic damage, and as soon as I returned my partner had to undergo a (minor) surgery. Pretty busy times, I guess.
Anyway, I'm back. I will catch up and post something today.

Bruh, the company my wife works for just did a 3rd round of layoffs after saying that there would be no more after the 2nd round.
Surprise, surprise, now the c-suites are pushing her department to use AI.
Replace billionaires with AI, I say. Recruit AI to bring them down. Some sort of reverse Metropolis Fritz Lang action.
A big part of me is very "eat the rich" positive, but I also just bought a powerball (lottery) ticket that could potentially be worth a billion dollars, so a small part of me is like, "whoa, let's reserve judgment until after the drawing" lol.
Well obviously you'll invest in some nice community gardens and Landback™!
I'm still not over the fact this whole AI scam is about making computers do the fun stuff whilst humans are stuck with drudgery. I mean, how can that sound even remotely like a desirable outcome.
But, yeah, I expect my field (technical writing) to get decimated, eventually. At least the bottom-rung jobs. There will probably be some demand for the best writers and editors, but not much else.

Hey everyone, just a quick heads up- I'll be camping Aug 6th through 12th. I'm going to be in a cabin with a bed, but no electricity. I'm able to post again. It's been a ride over here.
Wife and son are cleared of covid and flu as of Thursday. The flu struck me down Thursday night/Friday morning. It hit me harder than it hit my son (I wouldn't be surprised if I had a touch of the rona too courtesy of my wife) but I tested negative for both as of 5 am this morning. I basically got his week's worth of sickness crammed into a few days.
Give me some time to catch up, and I should be able to get something posted today.

Hey, sorry, I really hate to do this, especially since I really like this group (and it seems like it won't be a surprise), but I clearly don't have the bandwidth for gaming right now, so I'm going to have to bow out.
