@GM Fern: Katara gave the kitchen knife to Joran. Should it be treated like an improvised dagger? She just wanted to make sure she started the arm her companions in case someone decides to jump them again.
kitchen knives?! don't bite the hand that feeds! *atia shakes her fist* :P

Madame Ming |

I'll gladly comply with tracking Con and status, actually already kind of did that, just not that obvious.
There's really a ton of new posts and reading them is a bit difficult in my eyes. Times, places and people switch over and over again.
For a better understanding and tracking the flow, i would like to suggest something.
Could we on each of our posts include the day on ship, daytime or nighttime, and the location?
Kinda like this:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Day 2; at night; kitchen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't speak for other who might have a lot more time etc., but at least for me that would make things way easier.

Javell DeLeon |

Me personally, I'm not having any issues. Everyone - at least from what I've read - writes pretty clearly as to where they're located. I think the bold "On Deck" or whatever works quite well.
But that's just me and my 2 cents. Keep the change, I'd only lose it in the couch. :P

Madame Ming |

Well, i'm in europe, it's 2am and i'm super tired. That could be part of it ;)

Javell DeLeon |

For reference: Randy Dandy Oh! ;)
(Yeah I AIN'T that talented. Although, I wish I was). :)

Atia Leroung |

love that "just barely skated by that DC" feeling with the 10 for cooking
if all that work had resulted in a bad dinner...tragic

Atia Leroung |

Were we assigned jobs just now?
Looks like we're just doing our usual jobs - Fern's post on it was like 30 posts back, though, since last night was busy lol

Terry of Quent |

Were we assigned jobs just now?
No. Fern had asked to break the gaming post and the rolls into different posts, in that order.
There were an awful lot of posts between my primary action post and my rolls, though.

Atia Leroung |

Isn't the quartermaster's store in the galley, or am I misreading the map? Wondering if Joran did all of that in front of Atia without realizing, lol

Atia Leroung |

So how many know the origins of the terms "3 Squares a day" or "Learning the ropes" ?
I've included these phrases before when I teach idioms/proverbs/adages and how they inform our understanding of a culture, haha

Well, learning the ropes came from the Royal Navy, where a midshipman (larval officer) would learn what every rope, halyard, and stay onboard the 3 master.
Once they had that memorized, then they could stand in front of the board, and actually get promoted to actual officer.
The term 3 squares a day also came from the Royal Navy, where the crew were fed on square plates with sides that were about 1 inch high.
The crew thus were fed 3 square meals a day.
The design of the plate actually was done, so that it would not slide much, and would minimize the slopping over the sides in rough weather.
Just your does of Useless Frakken info for the day. :)

It is indeed!
LOL!!! Oh crap. Oh man I never even realized that. I'm not sure it could get any worse for the poor guy. LOL!!! Man that's hilarious. I love it. :)

Javell DeLeon |

And thus the rumour will spread. :)
Grok shrugged, her face a picture of confusion. "Ya got me. He came by asking for some boots, then got all nervous and declared he was important..."
Atia @ Grok.
LOL! 'Rumors' already and "important"! And I'm loving Atia's 'look' and her response. Classic. And 'beefcake'. :D Oh my gosh so dang funny. Man o man poor ol' Joran really didn't do himself any favors this time, did he? :P

I've been cackling about all of this for a while rofl

Atia Leroung |

Argh, me too - worried for Destinie. The Captain's been pretty difficult to get a read on so far. Could be anything. Don't turn on us, Destinie :P

Atia Leroung |

I meant to say something earlier, but I fell asleep (I was...up for over 24 hours again) - Katara's really killing it with the scavenging. Awesome stuff.

Thanks mate! Each one of us is doing our jobs right? I'm trying to pass unnoticed and meanwhile equip our group! I also worked the quartermaster, but if I had known that Joran was interested in tapping the half-Orc, I'd have just waited for him to use all his charm before doing anything :) Plus, instead of a weapon, I'd have gotten him a pair of shoes, or some blue pills...

Well, between your efforts and Grok's mighty thirst for our resident beefcake, I figure we have a good shot at getting the grog watered down to make the nightly con damage a little less painful, haha.
I also remembered that Atia has prestidigitation as a cantrip option - since she has her spellbook, I can have her take that cantrip for the next day and maybe help some folks out if they're feeling particularly grimy. Foster goodwill and all.

Terry of Quent |

Yeah, I'm trying to get people to at least neutral, and then leaving them for others to finish convincing the new guys are okay.
I'm just starting to wonder who to work with next, you know? The people who really hate us are not going to be easy for me to adjust, really. There will be far more failures than successes.
Or do you guys want me to help push people all the way over into helpful instead of trying to reduce the number who hate us first? I have been working from the assumption that I've got the best chance to get the ball rolling. I can adjust fire . . ..

Unfortunately, Atia is not super helpful when it comes to the diplomacy checks and stuff with a -1 modifier to Cha, so I'm not sure how much help she can be on that front. I planned to have her work on getting Kroop a little more friendly and a little less wasted when the opportunity arises.
There are still a couple of folks on the crew (non-officers, at least) we don't have names for - Maybe we aim for them?

Between Terry, Des and Ming we have a good chance of converting all but the most hostile people in the crew. If you haven't noticed, I've been saving the harder rolls to when the rum comes in handy.
Now if only the Captain meeting goes without a hitch... hopefully.

Javell DeLeon |

I meant to say something earlier, but I fell asleep (I was...up for over 24 hours again)
I meant to respond to this earlier but... WHAT?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I don't know how you do it. I don't. Oh my gosh. I can't imagine that. I can't. I just can't. Blows my mind. :P

Lol! Blue pills! Okay. Yep. Should've seen that one heading ol' Joran's way. Lol! :)

Since I'm off for the summer (teacher), all I really do is this, video games, and sometimes I leave the house, lol. My spouse is the same, although theirs is because they're unemployed (sports journalism is a tough job market ATM).
No routine, structure, etc. I really revert back to my teen years. I'm gonna pay for it though, I cannot run on 3 hours of sleep in my 30s like I was able to in my early 20s.
Once the school year starts back up again, I'll be on a more sane schedule. :p

Seadreamer Stonebeard |

Man hours like that would kill me now.
When I was on exercise (Ex Military), or deployment, I would run on 4 hours sleep a night for a week or two. After that I would be a basket case until I got a good nights sleep.
A big reason that I leave the diplomacy, is due to the -1 Cha bonus as well.
But I guess Joran is going to need all the help he can get. (Lol blue pills)
EDIT:
Another bit of Useless Info - The Galley, also becomes the surgery in battle.
During the victorian era, the wooden warships, used the cooks table in the galley as the surgery where the ships doctor did his work.

Madame Ming |

Well Ming has a good CHA and can do a lot of thievery, she's a rogue after all.
I held back on going on a supply mission because of being fatigued or exhausted so far.
Some here have been really busy. Quite a lot of posts for a weekend!

Javell DeLeon |

Atia is startled when someone other than Asmodeus replies.
"Aww, are you sure it's the bird you want to take back to your hammock?" Syl stands in the doorway, blocking it, and thus, Atia's only way out. Her face is split into a huge grin, and she giggles the same throaty giggle you heard during the brawl yesterday. " 'I don't know why you're so worried about what I think!' " she quoted in a sing-songy voice, followed by a series of kissy sounds and more laughter. "The galley is nice and quiet, and secluded'..." Syl made an exaggerated disgusted face. "Really? You two are going going to bump uglies in the place where you make our food?" She tsked. "What would the officers think?" She smiled.
Oh no. *buries face in hands* Brilliantly played, Fern, brilliantly played. I hate it and my gut is in knots now - thanks for that by the way - but my gosh that is well done. lol! :P
I can't help but chuckle. You know how it goes:
"Does it hurt?"
"Only when I laugh."
Man do I have a really bad feeling about this. :P

Just took the time to look.
Cassandra has a +10.
Terry has a +9
Des has a +8
Randall (the missing) has a +8
Ming has a +6
and I've forgotten who (brain fart), but someone else ALSO has a +6
We actually have a LOT of Diplomatic power, but we aren't using all of it . . ..
Cass has a better chance with the hatred level people than I do, though not by much.
Maybe we should start double-teaming them? That +10% is a big deal when the margins are as bad as they are with the hostiles. Terry's unaided odds are 1 in 4 (before target Cha adjustment) to get a good response for the hostiles, and 1 in 2 for the unfriendlies.

Javell DeLeon |

You could always hold off on the "haters" for now and shoot for the less hostile folk.
Seeing how we're going to be on this tub a while anyway, we could always save the 'haters' for last. I know you mentioned earlier you preferred working on the less hostile folks initially than the "haters" at this time. (Or something to that effect. Don't remember off hand).
But a Double-team is a good idea too.

I'd be happy to tag team them, that seems like a reasonable idea, we could form up with Terry and Des and myself and Ming, with the later aiding the former, or we could each take one of the folks whos already helpful so we can make more attempts!

Atia Leroung |

Yay nat 20 for bluffing confidence, boo -1.
I think y'all double-teaming on some of the folks would be helpful. If anyone's got ideas as to what Atia should be aiming for, I'm open to suggestions!
also holy crap things took a very stressful turn. :P

YES!!! Oh my gosh yes they did! SO dang stressful. I'm fairly certain my heart dropped. :P
Also, incoming missile on the way. Suit up...

Javell DeLeon |

I was thinking maybe a man overboard would be enough to interrupt . . ..
I guess the only downfall of that would be...
Scourge: "Captain, we got a man overboard."
Captain: "Food for the fish, Scourge, anything else? Can't you see I'm in a meeting."
Scourge: "Aye aye." ;P
It's all a big gamble really. :P

Katara Akshay |

Or maybe we can just let her play to her strengths, right? You know, instead of the whole "damsel in distress" angle? :) Just some thoughts. Who knows, at the end of the day, she may be the one playing the Captain. Despite being afraid, or disgusted, or even in danger, maybe the character is enjoying the opportunity to amass some fraction of power through the illusion of fragility, and maybe the player is enjoying their scene?

Seadreamer Stonebeard |

Small fire aboard and don't be anywhere near it would have also worked as well.
But it runs the risk of the whole ship going up.

Atia Leroung |

I don't think we need to start a fire, lol
We've got the ball rolling on some stuff--let's see where it goes first.

Atia Leroung |

If a knowledge check is what you need, Atia's your gal. Looks like Cass could do well with a nature knowledge check as well. She's +8, Atia is +9.
