Hello! Welcome to my run of PFS1 2-11: The Penumbral Accords for PaizoCon 2022.
I'm generally pretty laid back, but for this convention, we have only six weeks to finish, and at the deadline, I have to report and give awards for whatever you have completed at that moment only. Because of this, I will be botting characters more aggressively during combat, and if there is a decision to be made and the first two people to post agree, I will be going with that.
I'm heading out of town in the morning for a two week trip. Likely will have very limited time to post until the end of the month but I am onboard for this game - I should be able to post regularly by May 31 (when I think this is scheduled to start?). I'll play my level 3 Bloodrager (presuming that the game he's currently in is finished by that time). If he's not available I've also got:
|Diaz Ex Machina|
This is Rocko William, a level 2 Hunter with an owlbear companion (via chronicle boons). If we end up in high tier, I can swap him for something else.
I actually have a lot of potential PCs in range, so I'll bring a different PC; two hunters and two companions is a lot of clutter on the battlemap.
I'm seeing Bloodrager, Investigator, and Hunter in the party so far, so some healing is going to be welcome, and arcane will definitely help. I can offer the following:
I have a Rogue and Fighter available as well, but neither fills any holes in the party as it is.
If someone has a preference, feel free to share, otherwise I'll choose when the other party members check in.
Looks like my bloodrager will still be tied up in another game so my options are:
Since it looks like we are likely low tier I'll probably do one of the latter three but will wait to see what fits the party best. I won't be home until Sunday so I won't be able to look at my actual PC folders until then.
@cmlobue I accidentally dotted with my profile instead of my alias, could you please be so kind as to remove it from the characters? Thank you :)
Please head over to >SLIDE 2< and add your perception and initiative and place your tokens in marching order. (If you need me to make you a token, let me know.) I'll get you to the Museum tomorrow. There are no questions to be answered, so you can just read whatever spoilers your skill checks give you access to and discuss amongst yourselves.
Ooop, I accidentally posted with Rocko; I'd previously noted that I would bring a different toon. I'll update with a retcon post later this morning; got a few things to do first. Sorry for the confusion!
I made the following purchases for Jon Rooi in preparation for this session. If you note purchases on chronicles, please include these for Jon:
wand of burning hands (CL 3; 4 charges; 180 gp) from 5-08 The Confirmation
wand of summon monster II (10 charges; 900 gp) from 7-22 Bid for Alabastrine
cloak of resistance +1 (1000 gp)
Guys, I'm very sorry, but I need a couple of days to get better. I caught a very bad cold, my head feels just like two balloons [cit.], I need some time to recovery. I'll try to write something Friday or Saturday, ok? Meanwhile I will get tested for COVID, hoping everything will be fine.
Sorry for the delay - just updated my character's info (I decided to bring a multiclass wizard 2 / rogue 1) - and am catching up on the gameplay thread now.
As you enter the room, you notice movement. Apparently the dinosaur skeleton isn't just for display in this plane!
It looks like you are low subtier, but not everyone has signed up yet.

Hey y'all, sorry for the prolonged silence. I still feel very shitty, I don't really have the strength to put into PbP. I'm sorry, but for now I have to pause all my games on the forum. Feel free to either kick me or bot me, either is fine. Tomorrow I'll finally get tested for COVID and I'll know what to do for this illness. Thank you for your understanding.
Hope you feel better soon and if it's covid definitely get medical attention!
Hi! I had a long weekend vacation, and just started a new job today--all while recovering from a broken leg--so still figuring out my posting rhythm. I forgot to post an announcement, sorry! I think it's likely I don't get a meaningful post in until tomorrow--Wed--so please bot anything you need from me in the meantime.
Just got word that we should be rolling for prizes now, so everyone give me an unmodified d20 roll. On a 19 or 20, you get a $15 voucher to paizo.com. On a 1 or 2, you get a random boon chosen by HQ. Offer expires June 17.
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Fossorius wrote:You never resolved my actions before this fight.I am not sure what object reading you intended to perform, but it was just a skeleton of an ancient creature set to guard the building.
Are any of them dead? If so Fossorius will object-read one of the corpses to try to get a glimpse of who we are dealing with and then arrange the bodies to be retrieved when we leave.
This is the second time you've tried to use Object Reading. The first time the GM said they didn't understand what you meant.
You might want to include a link to the rules for Object Reading. Psychic stuff is rather obscure in Pathfinder, and not commonly used. I notice you don't have a character sheet in your profile, so there's not really anything for our GM to go by.
(Also, in this case, I don't see anything in the GM's description would lead me to believe that any of the prisoners were dead.)
Before it sounded like the GM was questioning what I wanted out of reading the skeleton because it was a generic skeleton with no back story. I assumed as a 3 star they'd have come across an occultist once or twice but if you're not, per Nethys:
Object Reading (Su): At 2nd level, an occultist learns how to read information from items he examines. Examining an item in this way requires him to spend 1 minute handling the item. If the item is a magic item, the occultist learns its properties and command word as if he had successfully examined the item using detect magic and succeeded at a Spellcraft check. This ability does not reveal whether the item is cursed unless the occultist’s class level is equal to or greater than the caster level of the item. If the item has any historical significance, the occultist learns one piece of information about its past (as determined by the GM). Finally, if the item was last used no longer than 1 day ago per the occultist’s class level, the occultist learns one piece of information about the last creature to use the item. This information might be a glimpse of the creature’s appearance, a brief vision of what it saw while using the item, or perhaps its emotional state when it last used the item. The GM determines what information is gained in this way. This functions like the psychometry occult skill unlock (see page 196), but doesn’t require a skill check and can be used at will.
I'm mostly just killing time with some roleplay until the others post so it doesn't really matter :)
Hi y'all, I'm feeling slightly better, and should be able to resume my duties as PC and GM toward the end of the week, I hope. Sorry again for all the troubles I've caused you, and thank you for your understanding.
We are about 2½ weeks into the game, and there's a chance we won't finish everything at our current pace. I don't want to bot you through everything or have you miss rewards, so please try to post once a day, especially during encounters.
I also need prize rolls from Syco, Oliver and Fossorius.
Hi y'all, I should be able to return to the tables after this weekend. I hope you won't mind having me with you again, I know I've been sick for a very long time (I still don't feel completely fine, hopefully next week will be better). In any case I'll try to catch up and post on Monday, have a nice weekend y'all!
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 13
This is early notice that I will be on vacation from Wed 22 Jun through Mon 27 Jun. I will be camping at a music festival, and internet has historically been inaccessible via phones most of the time during the festival due to the amount of traffic. I don't expect that I will be able to post at all.
I will try to get a reminder post in right before I leave, but I might miss that in the rush to get going. Please feel free to bot Jon as needed starting Tuesday PM.
Sorry for all the botting there at the end, GM. It was honestly just decision fatigue! Jon is not well-built for this scenario; I clearly need to add options as I level him up. He's so focused on mind-affecting, and even there one of his major tactics is murderous command, which is useless when there's just a single foe. He doesn't have disable device so couldn't even really help with the portal, and a hand-crossbow seems so underwhelming. Sorry!
Thanks for running!
This concludes PFS1 2-11: The Penumbral Accords, and not a moment too soon. The game report has been sent to HQ and should show up in the next few days, and chronicle sheets will be posted here in the next 24 hours.
If you have a roll for downtime or anything you want noted on your chronicle, now is the time. Some of you may be interested in the book from the last room you searched for faction goals.
I will keep the thread open for a few days for any questions or final roleplay.
Thanks for running, GM! A very interesting scenario.
Craft (locks): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
Looks good, GM. Thanks again for running the game!
