Crud, this thing was using detect thoughts while chatting. And it’s important now. Alright, it can really only see three of you since everyone hid at the door so Halali, Ruya and Dran need to make a DC 14 Will save against a mind effecting spell like ability. Failure just means your surface thoughts are being read. Those three may also make a trained spellcraft check to ID what the creature is ‘casting’.
Kaz finally gets around to trying to read this thing’s aura. He quickly gets the familiar taste of evil in his mouth, though it is faint.
The creature does a super quick flying flip and then broadcasts into everyone’s mind, ”Short Hairy things boring, only small minds. Done now.” The summoning circle flickers and goes out!
The wizard at the desk says, ”OH S+*!!” and dives under it.

Could someone move me on the map, please? Thanks.
GM TOP |
I'll assume Ruya's first roll to be the requested Will Save since it isn't her turn yet. I also moved her back to her starting position.
Ruya feels the creature's mind get into her thoughts. It's probably something like 'I want to hit that thing really hard all this talking sucks even if most of it is in Halali's head' or similar.
Dran charges in like the studly dwarf he is! He swings hard, but the creature does a very elegant barrel roll over his blade. It almost seems to be taunting him.
Bilos moves up and drills the creature with a book. A small bruise forms where it hit. The wizard would probably be annoyed by his books being used this way, but he's hiding like a coward and never saw it.
Kaz moves in and declares that this enemy shall die! (no reason not to activate smite, it's a swift action and grants you a bonus to AC)
The creature floats up a little bit, still in reach but now significantly harder to flank. The bruise looks like it heals a bit. It turns towards the phantom and its thoughts bore into her mind. All her fears from her former life crash down upon her.
What a failure! You will never amount to anything! Why did you leave that rake out in the garden I almost tripped!

Frightened: A frightened creature flees from the source of its fear as best it can. If unable to flee, it may fight. A frightened creature takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. A frightened creature can use special abilities, including spells, to f lee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.
Grunigon Durinslag |
Grunigon moves in to the room, listening to the banter of his friends. "You exfoliate? I thought I was the strangest dwarf here!"
Unsure what the thing is or what will or won't affect it he targets it with an Evil Eye hex, trying to weaken its armor. Will Save DC13. Fail means that the effect lasts 5 rounds. Save still means that it lasts 1 round, if it is affected at all?
GM TOP |
Will DC 13: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Grunigon feels his hex worked, but not for long.
Halali Skyseeker |
You know I almost liked you Halali thinks at the blob-creature until the 'hairy' comment.
Stepping to the side, Halali draws out the longer of her primary weapons. Attempting to bring the crtter back down to earth, she whips the weighted end of the kusarigama in an effort to encircle the creature. Thaumaturgic runes may have failed, but sturdy steel might still succeed.
grapple, kusarigama: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Or not.
Ruya Lucasdottir |
Sorry, too much 2e, where minions always share your turn.
Will Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
"Forget this, I'm out of here."
No map away, so assume she flees this round, then returns next and ends up in the same spot.
GM TOP |
Ruya runs away. Not a bad call. This thing will probably wipe the floor with the pathfinders.
Ander drills it with a nice shot, causing an odd seafoam colored blood spray onto the floor.
Halali steps back, draws out a neat looking weapon and confidently wraps it around the creature's tendrils... which then just slide free. Should probably aim for the body if a grapple is the goal.

Whomever Maren might be, they certainly aren’t paying any attention right now. Perhaps if Bilos sacrificed a goat to them? That might do the trick. Certainly couldn’t hurt. His book flies well wide.

Dran has two Fort Saves, Kaz and Halali have one each. The save won’t get bonuses from Hardy. Roll your own 1d4 duration.
Save Info: Any creature that comes into contact with the enzyme must succeed at a DC 18 Fortitude save or take a –2 penalty on attack rolls, ability checks, and skill checks for 1d4 rounds. I think Halali may have 1hp too much damage on the tracker GM? You rolled 4 damage.
Also, has more than 1 hour elapsed since fighting the plants and shard golem? If so, Halali was hit. If not, mage armour plus her dodge bonus vs flyers would make it a miss. (And sorry for not updating tagline).
Fort vs pain: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8duration: 1d4 ⇒ 2

The onslought of witchery curses continues, both Halali and Grunigon casting their dooms upon the evil aberration. It's mind resists, somewhat. A voice echoes in everyone's heads.
"Joke, civility is. Illusions used when wanting something."
Bilos finds the creature to be an easier target, drilling it again with another book. This one was a really heavy one too, that bruise might even bleed!
Ander also finds it an easy target. If only his damned gun would shoot! Oh wait, looks like the powder was wet. Gotta clear it out and try again.
Ruya realizes it was actually her sister that left the rake in the garden, not her. It wasn't her fault at all! She better get back and confront her fears by hitting them.

Kaz’s painful wounds juuust barely restrict his swing. Enough for the weapon to skim off the creature’s side.
Dran’s god has failed him! Or Dran has failed his god. Either way, glorious combat continues. Maybe that’s actually what Gorum wants tho.
The creature is happy to continue engaging in combat, slapping at the two dwarves and then drifting over to flail at Grunigon as well.

The witchery rogue doesn't like pain at all. But manages to perservere and cast his curse again. It works about as good as the last time.
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Ander rightly complains about his situation. That darn merchant sold him a load of crap! Halali tries to aerate the ceiling. It might take a while, but she has a good start on it!
The wizard pops up briefly to reply to her comment, "Listen lady, only those with tenure have windows. I'm lucky to even have a private office!"
The spirit strides in and just can't stop thinking about that rake. It feels so real in her hands. Unfortunately the rake had a completely different balance than her cudgel and her swing is well wide.
Bilos continues his string of solid competence, flinging another book to slam solidly into the fiend. Or whatever it is. It does not seem to appreciate being drilled again.
Dran manages to get back on the good side of his god and lands another nice chop. More blood sprays, though it seems like this stuff is more of an burnt sienna color instead of the earlier seafoam. Weird!
Kaztor is so surprised by this chaos, he whiffs again. Urgh.
