One pathfinder girds herself with magic, the others simply rely on their wit. Grunigon checks for traps wisely and the group moves up into the courtyard.
The ground in this open courtyard is covered with crushed white gravel. An ornate set of wooden double doors leads west into the temple, clearly the structure’s main entrance. Functional wooden doors lead to the east, one set on each side of the flagstone path leading into the courtyard.
Map is up and further revealed, what do you do!
Kaztor Firebeard
|
”I vote we take on the main building first. What do the rest of you lot think,” Kaz asks the others.
Grunigon Durinslag
|
Grunigon leads the group in, searching for traps or any other dangers, then checking the doors to see if they are locked or if he hears anything....

The boid discovers the temple is closed up tight…
…except for a massive open air garden with an entrance out the back.
Grunigon discovers that none of the doors are locked and it seems all is safe, no traps here!
Grunigon Durinslag
|
Grunigon quietly informs the group that the doors are not locked and apparently safe, then gets out of their way.
| GM TOP |
Kaztor opens up the front doors and inside you all see a nice wide entrance room. A Spiral of Korada is present in the mosaic tile floor.
1d60 ⇒ 37
The floor is heavily scuffed from what appears to be lots of regular foot traffic. Doors and hallways lead off from this room.
Dran Stoneheart
|
Dran tries to see if the foot traffic passes over the spiral or not. Just seems wrong to walk across that. he mutters.
Grunigon Durinslag
|
Grunigon looks through the group into the room. "Is that just decorative, or is there any magic in it?"
| GM TOP |
The circle has been walked across a lot.
Halali Skyseeker
|
"Well I can tell you that soon enough" Halali says as she casts a Detect Magic spell.
"But shouldn't we knock or something? Ring a bell? Maybe the locals will give us a tour. Easiest mission ever, right?"
Kaztor Firebeard
|
”Korada isn’t exactly my thing, but I’m not going to sully his symbol any further,” Kaz mutters as he purposely avoids stepping on the sigil.
| GM TOP |
There is a very faint aura.
K: Arcana to figure it out.
Bilos Nizhnyy

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Bilos is pretty sure that a dancing lights effect triggers every hour, sending a glow along the spiral from the middle out. Probably useful to keep time if anyone lived here.
Gonna wait 23 minutes to see if he is right?
Grunigon Durinslag
|
Grunigon Know-Religion? Nope! enters the room, staying off of the spiral. He walks around the room checking the floor, walls and doors for traps. Perception to find traps?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 Once complete he steps out of the way for the others.
Halali Skyseeker
|
"A fancy clock, huh? Weird.
Any sign of a bell-pull? A knocker? Maybe a big gong we should hit to announce ourselves?"
| GM TOP |
Sure yeah, there’s a bell pull by the door.
Kaztor Firebeard
|
Assuming the group was ready to proceed, Kaz walks to the double doors straight ahead and opens the doors once Grungy gives the all clear sign.
If someone could please advance me to the double doors. Thanks!
| GM TOP |
The double doors are thrown wide and the dwarves see a nicely appointed dining room. A female human is standing there setting dishes and silverware out. She looks up and a startled expression crosses her face, ”OH! You are… new. And well uh… armed. Are you… here to harm us? You look like you are.”
Ander Therinor
|
No ma'am... Ander says as he bows his head to her.
We are tasked to find some stuff out...abd we just always have our gear...in case. Better to have them and not need them than need them and not have them....right?
| GM TOP |
She resumes putting plates out, ”Ah, well good. Please join us for lunch, Korada will provide enough for all. Especially seekers of knowledge.”
Kaztor Firebeard
|
Diplomacy 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
”Nah, Ander is right. We aren’t here to cause anyone trouble. We are just here exploring. It’s nice to meet you,” he says, activating his detect evil ability.
| GM TOP |
She grabs extra plates and smiles, ”Oooh, magic! I love magic. What did you cast?”
No evil
Bilos Nizhnyy
|
Bilos is happy to join the others for food. Unfortunately, he realizes that nothing in his spell repertoire would be particularly interesting to watch cast, unless his hosts want to see the silverware stuck in the walls.
Kaztor Firebeard
|
”Not magic, I don’t think. I was just detecting evil on you. Last thing I need is for you to be all sneaky and poison the food or something. Pleased to report that you didn’t come in as evil…”
| GM TOP |
She smiles, ”Well, I certainly don’t intend to poison you, sir dwarf. Nor have I even a way of poisoning this blessed food. Korada provides all we need here. I am Di Duang. Pleased to make your acquaintances.
Di rings a very loud handbell that echoes through the temple. Eleven other people wander in, giving side eye glances at the dwarves before taking their seats. Di assures them the dwarves are dinner guests. Everyone sits and waits for the dwarves to take their seats, then Di speaks, ”Korada provide us this bountiful feast.”
Suddenly the table fills with fruits, grains, nuts, and juices sufficient to feed 24 creatures.
Ander Therinor
|
Ander removes his hat and puts out his cigar.
I ain't familiar with the local cutoms...so if I do something wrong, don't hesitate to let me know. Or Halali will smack me upside my skull...either way... he says with a grin. He then sees the feast. I like Korada's style...
Kaztor Firebeard
|
Kaz tries to be polite and follow the Koradans. He took a position around the table and waited for the go ahead before eating. ”Im Kaztor, by the way,” he returned the introduction to Di Duang.
Dran Stoneheart
|
Dran is me name. Never accuse me of being rune and refusing hospitality. Dram moves to stand by a chair but waits to see what protocol is used for the meal.
Knowledge Religion:Korada: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Do you mind sharing about Korada? I am not as familiar with her as I should be.
Halali Skyseeker
|
Could've just knocked the door. But at least they're hospitable.
"I wonder how their nuts compare, Shooter" Halali grins as she grabs a handful from the table.
"Do you get many visitors here? Other seekers of knowledge? Pilgrims? Is there an official tour?" she asks Di Duang.
Ander Therinor
|
Ahh...apologies...i'm Ander... the rifledward sats as he slaps his forehead, mildly dusgusted by his faux pas.
Well, I gather they have a different selection than they do back home...but I'm down to try them...may I? he asks as he reaches for a mittfull.

Dran maaaaay recall the mission briefing that was less than an hour ago where Bilos, Grim and Kaztor shared what they knew about Korada. Regardless, Di Duang shares what she knows, "Korada is a force of good, dedicated to peace and contemplation. He spends his time meditating in the Dream Lotus on the plane of Nirvana."
One of the acolytes adds, "There is no ritual or formality here, just sit and enjoy the blessed food." They all dig in.
Grunigon Durinslag
|
Grunigon shrugs, sits down to enjoy the food. "Peace and contemplation? Sounds good."
Bilos Nizhnyy
|
"Sounds like a lovely change of pace," Bilos adds as he joins the feast.
| GM TOP |
Everyone squeezes in, well it isn't as bad as that. The acolytes are super courteous and everyone sits just a little closer together than usual to make space for the dwarves.
While everyone digs in, one halfling loads up three plates and takes it out of the room.
The food smells and looks delicious and everyone seems to be enjoying their food.
Make a Fort Save vs. Sickened please.
Grunigon Durinslag
|
Fort save?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Grunigon chokes and spits, looking around at the other people in the room. "Yuck! What is this.... filth!?!"
Dran Stoneheart
|
Dran has adopted a policy never to eat or drink gifts from others while on a mission, unless its a Hero's Feast spell. He might have to make a will save if its good ale though.

Halali gags.
"What the -? Is this a bad joke? You always treat visitors this way?"
She stands up, pushing her plate away, and casts an orison to scan for magic auras.

All the dwarves manage to choke down or spit out the food, preventing them from being sick.
Except Ander. He keeps eating the scorched earth tasting nuts. Must be an acquired taste.
The Korada followers look... sadly at the group as they continue to eat. Di Duang speaks, "No, the food is fine. We all enjoy it. But I think the problem might just be your souls. See, when anyone first comes here, the food tastes terrible. But once you meditate upon Korada, foresight, forgiveness and peace, his blessed food tastes delicious. Perhaps you all should look inwards at your own sins before bringing accusations to us."
