Also...
Redd restores some vitality to Ulrich! (+6 HPs)
Why only 6 hp?

GM rainzax |

Redd - according to my Tracker, you have used 2x second level spells, and now 2x first level spells since your last nights rest.
I am going to hold you to that.

![]() |

When did I use invisibility or Telekinetic Maneuver? I only used tele maneu. when i tried to flip the tray of food in the mess hall. And that was days ago in the game.
Like I said earlier, you must be confusing Telekinetic Maneuver with Telekinetic Projectile, which the latter is a cantrip.
And, why only 6 hp healed to Ulrich? Should be 11 hp.

![]() |

@Redd, you casted:
- Telekinetic Maneuver a day before (the day when we arrived to the camp).
Then we went to sleep so you were up with 2 slots lvl 2 and 3 slots lvl 1.
- Soothe lvl 2 cast on yourself on fight with bulettes
- Soothe lvl 2 cast on Duvik on fight with bulettes
- Ill omen lvl 1 spell
That makes you down with lvl 2 spells and 2/3 lvl 1 spells. So when healing Ulrich Here you have only Soothe lvl 1 available. It should be 1d10+4 => GM took first of your two rolls (2) and added 4 to it => Ulrich has +6 HP and is up.
That leaves you with your last lvl 1 slot available

Soothe is Redd's 1st level Signature Spell. It's auto heightened.

Soothe is Redd's 1st level Signature Spell. It's auto heightened.
Hmm, ok I can see the confusion.
Experience allows you to cast some spells more flexibly. For each spell level you have access to, choose one spell of that level to be a signature spell. You don’t need to learn heightened versions of signature spells separately; instead, you can heighten these spells freely. If you’ve learned a signature spell at a higher level than its minimum, you can also cast all its lower-level versions without learning those separately. If you swap out a signature spell, you can choose a replacement signature spell of the same spell level at which you learned the previous spell. You can also retrain specifically to change a signature spell to a different spell of that level without swapping any spells; this takes as much time as retraining a spell normally does.
Signature spell mean that you know every level of the spell that you are available to cast. But when you cast it still uses given spell slot => When you cast two times lvl 2 Soothe spells, and you are out of lvl 2 spell slots you can only cast lvl 1 Soothes (as this is the only spell slot that you have).
Cantrips and Focus spells are auto-heightened but signature spells simply let you cast any lvl of the spell you want. I don't know if it makes sense

Yeah I'm really confused about signature spells. I thought "You don’t need to learn heightened versions of signature spells separately; instead, you can heighten these spells freely"
Meant that their Auto-heightened. Ugh. 2e is so unclear in areas.

![]() |

It appears I am correct about Signature spells.
"But both the sorcerer and bard have signature spells. It allows them to choose 1 spell per level they can cast that can be heightened for free, so they don't need to learn it at those higher levels.
So let's assume fireball is a sorcerer's signature spell. He knows it as a 3rd level spell, but is 7th level and can cast 4th level spells, too. He can cast his fireball as a 4th level spell for free, heightening it to a 4th level spell and gaining the additional damage dice associated with it, because it is one of his signature spells."
So, they're auto heightened for free, not taking up higher spell slots. Hence, "You don’t need to learn heightened versions of signature spells separately; instead, you can heighten these spells freely."
Ok. I read into Heightening Spells. Carry on.

An interesting elaboration on the role of Signature Spells and Heightening for casters.
When it comes to Damage or Healing spells, the impact of using higher level slots is immediately obvious: More dice.
But the impact of using higher level slots for Incapacitation or Counteracting spells is less immediately obvious.
Makes for interesting choices budgeting Slot Choice by Spell Choice for any caster, Spontaneous or Prepared!

We are on track to finish within Outpost's Deadline, maybe a little early if this pace keeps up: You can book these characters in post-con games with confidence!

Bot Tree!
In the event a PC is "up" for more than 24 hours, this is a buddy system where players vouch to "bot" the missing player alphabetically before and after (and wrapping around) their own PC's name. To assist when you are out, please house "botting instructions" in your character's profile:
◆) Cookie
◆) Duvik
◆) Redd
◆) Ulrich

Will take the Weekend (PDT) to finish out any final Investigations.
Then on Monday (PDT), I will push us into our final stretch, aiming to finish by the end of the week!

Ah! Ok. I was wondering who takes the job of Botting the GM if they don't post for some time. ;)
I think Redd earned 1.6 gp from her Earn Income check. Her result was a 19 with Expert proficiency in Performance. I used the Earn Income Calculator, but was unsure of the task level. If Task Level equals PC level -2, then I did it right. I think.
In the meantime, If you have something you would like me to write on your Chronicle Sheet, please include it below.
I guess you could write something like "Redd was a really annoying PC/Player at times, but, we persevered and allowed her to continue anyway."
(You've left awesome little anecdotes on my other chronicles before. Always a pleasure to see what you write!).

Well then. Since Ulrich is 3rd level also and succeeded at his 8 days of Earn Income, I suppose Redd earns the same amount. So, 2.4 gp for Redd. I wonder what i got wrong.

Come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with mee.
Duvik failed back at the beginning so I get .64 gp.

We are 2/4 on the Contact Sheet!

Ulrihc has Experienced smuggler feat which allows him to earn income at lvl -1 and not lvl -2 ;) That is why.

Oh, snap! Ok. 1.6 gp for Redd's Earn Income.

We are 4/4 on the Contact Sheet - expect Chronicles no more than 48 hours from now.
Last call on Gameplay thread, then I'll close us out with a conclusion post - your characters are technically "free" at this point!

Chronicle looks good! Thanks a ton for running a great game, Rainzax, and thank you to all the players for a fun time!
