The Pathfinder Society dispatches agents to attend a conference and secure agreements with the hobgoblin nation of Oprak. Travelling through dangerous terrain to reach their destination, the Pathfinders quickly discover a complication when they learn that the nefarious Aspis Consortium is also attending the talks. It’s all up to the Pathfinders to make a strong impression with the hobgoblins, all while foiling any attempts from Aspis to make inroads of their own.

Hey Folks,

I have a lvl 3 investigator that could play this scenario. I did not plan to play it, in fact I GM'ed this scenario twice (and liked it a lot), and I usually either play or GM. But anyways. Rainzax did something nice at my table, so I decided to return a favor. If you look for a 4th guy, I can join.

Just an FYI: Ulrich is a skill-monkey, with few specifics:
Pointed Question - he is interrogation investigator which means that with a successful Diplomacy check he can force someone to answer a question. They can lie but they have to answer, due to that the best kind of questions are yes/no ;) I did not find it useful in the scenario's but maybe this will be the time

Shared Strategem - when he makes a successful attack with his strategem he can grant one ally bonus by making enemy flat-footed to next attack. Since he is lvl 3 he will use bow, granting that bonus to whoever can't flank the creature ;)

Known weakness - fairly standard recall knowledge check on strategem, Ulrich has most relevant skills to recall knowledge beside Nature ;), I will include recall knowledge check for my attacks in the spoiler. If I roll critical success Ulrich gets +1 to his attacks

I think it's great you're taking charge, Cookie. Redd is still a bit timid & shy. She needs a good mentor of diplomacy once in awhile. She will also enjoy having an investigator mentor and a warrior mentor.

Take another 24 hours to finalize the role(s) of Prolocutor.

I am intentionally pushing you all to develop a SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) in which, when the time calls for it, the Primary Prolocutor will be called upon to speak, rolling a primary Diplomacy check, optionally with the Secondary Prolocutor being called upon to Aid.

Let's work out and finalize that SOP either in Gameplay or Discussion!

Duvik should not be looked up a mentor in anything, Redd, except perhaps in eating potatoes. ;)

I endorse Cookie as our primary prolocutor. As for our secondary prolocutor, Duvik would endorse a duel to the death between Redd and Ulrich, as violence always excites Duvik. Failing that, I suppose Ulrich would have Duvik's vote, as Redd is still a bit timid and shy.

Redd thinks for a moment as they trudge along the snowy trail. She then turns to Drussem with an inquisitive expression.

GM - Would it violate the hobgoblin rules for Redd to use inspire Competence in place of aid diplomacy?

Note Inspire Competence uses the performance skill to aid and a failure counts as a success.

Aid (circumstance bonus)- +2 crit success, +1 success, -1 crit fail.

Frequency: once per 10 minutes.
Trigger: Another creature attempts a check to investigate a lead you're pursuing.

You share information with the triggering creature. They gain a circumstance bonus to their check equal to your circumstance bonus to checks investigating your subject from Pursue a Lead. The GM can add any relevant traits to this reaction depending on the situation, such as auditory and linguistic if you're conveying information verbally.

Quick Rulings:

Checks to "investigate a subject/lead" are distinct from checks to Make an Impression, and so bonuses from Pursue a Lead and Clue will not apply. That said, there are some investigation checks coming up soon, so anyone accompanying Ulrich may benefit from being Clued In so long as the check is connected to one of his active leads.

Checks to Make an Impression take course out of sync with Encounter Mode, so using Inspire Competence as essentially a Repeat a Spell activity during Exploration Mode would be taxing. I'll offer a compromise: As Second Prolocutor, Inspire Competence can be used at risk of fatigue, meaning Redd would gain the full benefits of the spell but would have to make a Fortitude save (against same DC) or be Fatigued from the effort.

Let me know if this changes the party's selection of First and Second, and we'll get this SOP established!

I would rather not repeat a spell (Inspire Competence) during our trek through the mountains. I will only cast it during an actual encounter.

However, if Redd can repeat it during the talks/negotiations, I'm fine with that.

Primary: Cookie will roll Diplomacy to Make an Impression
Secondary: Redd will cast Inspire Competence and then roll a Fortitude save

I should have described my intentions/actions better.
I was hoping to get a chance to speak with Greeleep alone if Redd ever noticed he was wandering the camp. She would have used stealth to get around the camp without being noticed and approach Greeleep.

How did she learn that "None of the hobgoblins use arcane or occult magic or magic items derived from these traditions; many share a traditional disdain for these types of magic."?

She just wanted to speak with Greeleep.
