Joseph moves down to see what the commotion is and seeing the beasties tries to protect himself.
Total Defense as a standard action. AC 25.

As Joseph moves closer, doing exactly the opposite of what she suggested, she shakes her head ruefully and mutters under her breath.

Mrs. Book

Mrs. Book delays until she can see one of them. Chances are she will be twiddling her thumbs for a bit. For right now she is leaving the forward positions to those who can better use them.
| DM Carbide |
Alton, what do you want to do?
Lybram Tendras
|
Lybram, not reacting to the fight yet, blurts out, "Anyone know what or who this bloke is? It might be right nice to know what we are dealing with here."
What sort of check would it be to know more about this blue man? Just wanting to prep for Lybram's turn.

Alton's force darts rip into the humanoid, who hisses something in a language that no one but Alton understands. (Alton, he's implying that your parents met once, briefly, at a costume party.) He casts a spell, and he, the blue creature, and the crab begin to move more quickly.
The crab scuttles forward and splits its attention between Joseph and Blitz. One claw and bite misses Joseph (though the claw barely misses), while it tags Blitz with a claw for 9 HP.

The blue creature flees down the stairs, a splash echoing through the hall in its wake.
Corbrae identifies the humanoid as an undine, a native outsider whose heritage stems from the Elemental Plane of Water.

Mrs. Book is still stuck off map so she continues to delay. She could run past everyone down the stairs, but only if she wants to give the crab a chance to snap her up, so NO to that plan.

Alton, I'm assuming that means you're shooting the crab, not the undine. Also, don't forget about Corbrae's inspire courage.

A tripped crab could help. Might actually be able to hit the thing. We will see I guess.
"Good boy, blitz. Get the thing. Crab meat is expensive and we might just get a gold or two for it."
| DM Carbide |
There's a chance, but it's harder to trip than a biped.
Viridian's scimitar also narrowly fails to penetrate the crab's armor and arcane defenses, but Blitz does it some damage.

The crab attacks again, clawing and biting at all three of the enemies facing it. One claw misses Viridian, but the other one hits Lybram for 9 HP. (Lybram, I think you're down to 1 HP.) It bites twice at Blitz and hits both times for 10 HP.
