Moving forward
Sciath sees a flutter of fabric as the goblin in front of him disappears behind a hanging on the wall.
You may make an AoO if you choose Sciath
Malon manages to move 20 pounds of rock away from the rockfall moving ever so slightly closer to freeing the trapped Kimlo.
Round 3 (bold may act)
Malon
Galandir
Goblin (red)
Sciath
Kimlo
Malon Xilcan
|
Malon keeps digging. ”Why the hells am I the only one working on digging this one out? Wizards don’t dig well,” the elf yells at the bystanders.
Galandir
|
@Malon, nobody else is on your side of the rubble except Lilac, who has quit the game. You can't see the rest of us. And, even if he can hear you, Galandir isn't going to yell anything back because he thinks there is still a goblin hidden in the darkness on this side.
Galandir delays.
Sciath Bhuan
|
Sciath makes an off-balanced swing s the goblin flees.
AoO: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
He then turns his attention to freeing his allies caught in the collapse.
I hoped I could kill him so we could work on the pile without having to worry about getting shot in the back.
Galandir
|
If Sciath tells Galandir that the goblin is gone, the elf will start digging out Kimlo.
His Str is 14, max load is 175 lbs, so in a minute he can move 875 lbs of rock. Focusing on the square where he last saw Kimlo.
| GM Ietsuna |
We can drop out of initiative here since the goblin is gone... at least for now.
You take about an hour to clear enough of the rubble to free Kimlo. It would still be a struggle to climb over the pile between the two rooms, but it is doable.
I have not seen a post from Kimlo yet. Has anyone heard from them?
Where to now?

Malon Xilcan
|
I just sent Kimlo a PM. I’ll devise if I hear from them.
”Im really starting to hate goblins, you know,” Malon says as he wipes his brow, not used to so much physical exertion.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
Kimlo grabs in aching head, "Am I dead?", he asks Sciath as he frees up his head and mouth. "I can only see 5 feet...Awwh, we are still in that goblin hidey hole, aren't we?"
When able,he then climbs out and stretches. "My aching back. If I get my hands on that goblin..." He grabs his ax and stuff. "Where to now?"
| GM Ietsuna |
The tunnel the Sciath Sees behind the hanging is only 4 feet high. Tall enough for a goblin to stand and walk through, but probably not for you all. You could however crouch, stoop or crawl.
Galandir
|
"That looks like a sure way to get killed. We would be quite vulnerable squeezing through there.
Let's look for another way."
Figure we are waiting for our new cleric to join us before we proceed?
Sciath Bhuan
|
"Well, I'd rather it be us than some gung-ho pup who's filled him mind with glory, but never got 'imself no training. Or worse, some child who got lost. It might not be the smartest plan, but it just might be the only way we can go."
I'm good following the goblin tunnel or looking for an alternative path.
Zuheilen
|
Hello? a voice is heard accompanying the light, illuminating a cleric in the robes in Sarenrae.
Is anyone there? I've been sent by the venture captain to help explore this area. I heard the crash of falling rocks. Is anyone hurt?
| GM Ietsuna |
The light surrounding Zuheilen seems to only make it about 5 feet from her form before being swallowed by the darkness.
Just a reminder about the light situation here. Leaving some space for everyone to react to the arrival.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
"What in the world? People showing up now? We must have been taking too long to report back with information." Kimlo turns to Sciath and winks. "Let's keep an eye on that hole there. I am with you, we should follow it."
He yells back over his shoulder and says, Malon, what are you summoning clerics now?" "I am just scratched currently. I think I am good for now. Who is that newcomer?"
Assuming the cave in is still kind of dividing the group into two sides.
| GM Ietsuna |
You have cleared enough to get Kimlo out and you can traverse between the two areas, but it would take another 18 hours or so to clear the rubble completely.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
"Malon and who-ever-you-are, please come on through. I think we need a get a consensus."
I think we are two and two. Our new cleric may have to break the tie unless someone wants to change there mind.
Galandir
|
"Sciath, Kimlo, I don't understand why you are so intent on following the goblin onto terrain where we are at even more of a disadvantage without even looking for another way around.
There are other directions we can explore first.
If it is the only way, let's be sure of that before taking such a risk."
Malon Xilcan
|
”Yes, we are over here! You’ve got good timing. We are trying to clear a rockfall over here that got one of our group. Those venture captains are pretty clever, aren’t they? Seems as if they know what we need about as soon as we need it,” the elf says, hoping the cleric could follow his voice.
Zuheilen
|
Yes, I do hope that I will be able to offer my assistance. My name is Zuheilen and I am a cleric of the dawn flower as she slowly moves through the scattered rubble and notices the mound that looks very difficult to climb. I overheard your discussion as I was approaching and wonder why you would really want to chase a goblin through a dangerous space. I noticed there was another room behind us. If there is one tunnel out of your space, there could be another more reasonable one in this room she says as she moves with her 5 foot lighted space toward the other room.
Malon Xilcan
|
”Ah, a lady of intelligence, I see! I tried to tell the others that squeezing though a tunnel would be a terrible idea! Hopefully you will have better luck convincing them than I did,” Malon explains.
Sciath Bhuan
|
"Look half-blood, maybe you ain't had generations of yer kin murdered by these rats. If ya did, maybe ya wouldn't ask. If yer afraid, jest say so." He holds up a hand, "Ya know what, I don't wanna be in those tunnels with someone I can't trust. Let's find something more yer speed."
I mean, Dwarven Hatred is a thing. Just some RP with the post. The player is good with whatever we do.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
"Ah, brother, it looks like our elven companions do not share our love of tunnels. It appears we are out voted. Let's try it their way. It is not easy to fight in a tunnel as tight. Plus these gobbos have shown they like to trick and trap."
Kimlo climbs out of the round chamber over the rubble and heads towards the east area, behind the fast disappearing light of the cleric.
| GM Ietsuna |
Kimlo moves forward into the darkness off to the east. He finds no traps and no goblins awaiting him as he moves through the inky space. What a pleasant surprise.
No compass rose. I am assuming top of the page is north.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
That is how we have been playing it. Top is North.
Kimlo stops as he spots the double doors ahead.
"Galandir, what do you think of these doors? Are they trapped?" Kimlo asks for help from the knowledgeable rogue.
He waits patently for the rogue to examine them.
"No point in getting hurt needlessly if it can be helped."
Galandir
|
Galandir looks surprised at Sciath's earlier question.
"Well, yes. Of course I am afraid of being attacked in those tunnels. I thought that was clear from what I said. But I will say it in so many words if you wish.
I am very much afraid of charging into territory that is favorable to the enemy. That just seems common sense to me. Always tilt the battlefield in your favor if you can, and never let the enemy do so to you."
He shakes his head.
Then he follows Kimlo and checks the double doors to the east.
Perception vs traps: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
"Looks okay to me."
He moves back.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
Kimlo will stow his ax and open the right door assuming it is not locked. He then readies his axe and looking back at his companions, " You have my back, right?"
He moves into the room beyond.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
Kimlo presses forward trying to see how big this chamber is and if there is anything here.
perception: 1d20 ⇒ 7
"Can't see too well, this is like being in fog." "There's a doorway to the right and something big and made of stone to the left.'
| GM Ietsuna |
From this curving room, doors lead east and west, and a passage leads south. A small table with four rickety chairs sits in the middle of the room. Two of the chairs are occupied. One by a goblin from whom soft snores issue and one, their back to you, sits giggling as she piles foot atop the head of her sleeping companion. A pair of dice lies on the table amid cups and plates.
Sleeping Goblin (GREEN): 1d20 - 1 - 10 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 1 - 10 - 4 = -14
Awake Goblin (BLUE): 1d20 - 1 - 4 ⇒ (9) - 1 - 4 = 4
For the moment it appears that they are not aware of your presence.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
Kimlo seeing the goblin with her back to himself, will attempt to wack her non-lethally with the flat for his ax blade after stepping across diagonally to set up a flank from the party direction.
Non lethal ax blow w/hatred: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 4 = 19; dmg NL: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
"Knock them out! We can possibly get information from them."
Zuheilen
|
While watching Sciath act out his suggestion for what to do, and hearing Kimlo's words, Zuheilen steps forward 10 feet and whispers to Sciath, "What is Kimlo talking about? What does he see?"
| GM Ietsuna |
Kimlo's axe hits the back of the goblin's skull with a soft CRACK and she falls forward, unconscious onto the table.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 - 4 - 10 ⇒ (6) - 1 - 4 - 10 = -9
The other goblin, perhaps hampered by the mashed beans and potatoes in his ears, sleeps on.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
kimlo smiles as the goblin snores on. He quietly shifts over an repeats his flat axe strike on the blue goblin
NL blow w/ axe: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 4 = 8; dmg NL: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
| GM Ietsuna |
With a crack Kimlo puts the second goblin down for the count.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
"Well, heck, Galandir, I just knocked them out because it seemed the right thing to do. I usually don't just murder sleeping people." "I guess I will tie them up." "I don't even speak goblin. How was I going to communicate with them?" "Silliness..."
Kimlo pulls out some rope and ties the two unconscious goblin up hand and foot. He ties a gag over their mouths too. He drags them into the the Northeast corner of the room laying them along the wall.
"Well, hopefully we'll have this place cleared before they wake up." "Which way now?"
| GM Ietsuna |
Kimlo secures the unconscious goblins and tucks them away in a corner.
Not much else to add here until you pick a direction to head off in.
Kimlo Grimmerkin
|
Kimlo goes back to the double doors. "Are you all coming? I need some help figuring out which way to go. Galandir, can you check that door on the east wall? Maybe listen at it to? I think we are coming to a big chamber."
He then moves back to support Galandir as he checks things on the door.
