SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

We’re out for the afternoon. Will bot Elixia if no posts by the time we’re home.

Horizon Hunters

NG Male Dwarf (Death-Warden) Scout Ranger 7 | HP 108/108 | AC: 25 | F +14 R +15 W +14; 5 Fire Resistance, 1 Negative Resistance | Perc +17 | 35 feet | Class DC 22 |1 Hero point|Exploration Activity: Scout (+17; +2 to allies' init) | Active Conditions: None

Hrmm, question about the fires. What squares are they in? Is it all of the burning squares on the map or just the marked ones? Next, how many squares can we put out in the larger fire scenario?

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

They are in all the burning squares.

One cluster of fire is put out with one successful disable check. Its weird because some clusters are rather large but thats as written.

Okay! Cool. Ionic can start on those then. Also hallelujah for not having to move to the numbered spaces. Those would mean one check every two rounds for a slow dwarf.

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

I outlined the fires for you on the map; if you move adjacent to any numbered patch you can use a 2-action activity to disable that patch.

You will need to disable over half the patches to have any effect on the trap. Though the smoke isannyoing.

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

If player’s schedule precludes posting on Fri/Sat I will not bit. No need to rush.

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

Ionic you needed to be adjacent to a flame and you said you "stepped out of line" but it doesn;t seem like your token moved. I movesd you to flame 3.

Whose turn is it?

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

I think we crossposted but it's yours and Elixia's turn, Squash. I copied in the wrong init block that still had James up. James went, then the trap and monster at the top of round 2 went, and now you are up.

Whoops, forgot to update the map when posting from my phone. I've adjusted his positioning. He really did Step and not Stride.

Did my cold iron spiked chain have any noticeable effect beyond the crit?

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

I missed your OOC yesterday. Yes it should take more damage. Thanks for the note here.

Hero point to James; this way everyone has one.

It’s the next morning. You’re all healed up; new spells, all that good stuff.

And don't feel bad about missing the "next day" bit. I was not being very clear and might have pushed the party on before they were fully ready. It was a good thing to double check!

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

This scenario contains a VERY dangerous optional encounter. It TPK'd a group in our lodge as well as several others.

When Urwal says "This will be in no way an easy battle, and you could easily lose your lives," he means it. This is comprable to a 1e "hardmode" if anyone has tried one of those before.

The metaplot implicaitons of this encounter have been resolved at the end of Season 2, so attempting to save the dragon will have no impact on that. The only reason to attempt hardmode would be for personal challenge; it is 100% optional.

Below is a survey. I will not be running hardmore unless every player explicitly opts in. Votes are anonymous, so there's no pressure. Please vote once.

Hardmore opt-in

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

Everyone opted in. I'll get an update in a bit later today.

Some strategy ideas.

If we are up against heavy hitters using your third action to stride away is often better than taking a third attack at a -10. (This may not apply if they have AoOs.)

Squash will keep his reach with his chain unless he finds resistances are a problem. Take advantage of his attack of opportunity to force the enemy into provoking an AoO if they want to engage (unless area attacks become a problem).

Protect the healer.

I gave you some minor elixirs of life don't forget about them if it becomes an emergency, especially if you are taking persistent bleed, fire or acid.

Squash will also give each of you a lesser antidote and antiplauge. I suggest taking them since we will be facing corruption of some sort. (I will only be taking the antiplague since one of my batch of antidotes was already used, so if you have your own let me know.)

Alright guys, we've got this, my guy into position. My strategy, I prayed to Jesus that we all roll at least one crit he answers all prayers.

Ionic would probably definitely move away as a third action. Also please don't kill his Hunted Prey/closest target if you can. Ionic has the dwarven flaw of being slow.

Yea, I'm squishy but I have just enough achievement points for a resurrect and I had a guess you'd all want to take a shot. I didn't want to be the one to kill that.

I'll do everything I can to keep us all up and fighting. Elixia has one healing potion that she'll keep on a bandolier or pocket so if she drops it'll be easier to wake her up so she can toss more heal spells. Other than that, if you don't need healing I'll see about that ritual option.

Oh, GM, I don't see any dotted lines? Elixia will start in the center of the group, so feel free to move me around.

Easy to hit but doesn't take crits is a design space for a monster I hadn't thought about before. Once this is over I'd be curious to know if it also has a massive health pool too for it's level.

A GM I used to play with a lot used to repeat "oozes are simply physical piles of hit points that move around the battlefield and land on top of you."

If the rot dragon produces another ooze thing next round we might need to focus on the dragon. The oozes are easy to take down and they don't have great attacks so we can probably leave them alone.

Yes, but too many oozes at once can be a problem.

GM, I don't see a second poison effect or any listed poison damage since I failed my save last round. Did I miss something?

Ahh, the "poison" noted was the creature's aura. I see that wasn’t clear. Anyway, you are now immune to the aura for 1 minute too… so that's one less thing to worry about.

You had taken 10 damage from the failed save against the breath weapon.

SoT (Year 4, Sem. 1): Maps & Slides, Handouts, Macros

Also the rot is tripped by Squash. Forgot to write that down but edited into the block.

GM thank you for running a great game! I'm sorry if I slowed things up at all! It was great getting to play with all of you and helping keep you alive without resorting to using a Kyra clone!

I hope we get to play together again some time! ;)

Same. I usually roll in-game because it feels like good form (in my totally subjective opinion), but I have seen some GMs who are still requiring it.

I also like having something definitive to point to. And I like linking to it in my version of a tracker on my character sheets

Pahmet Lore (cause someone's a newly learned expert): 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

A success for 4 gp.
