While Mr Pitch lays back, Mheenah’s claws rend the poor guard’s face into a mess of gore, blood spurting all over, dropping the screaming guard to the floor where falls silent evermore…
The other guards then warily move towards the quasit, thrusting with their spears…

"Maybe. Maybe not. If you got some way to make these jokers surrender and let us tie 'em up, I'm all ears." says Mheenah, as she lays off gnawing face for a moment. "But until then, that's just their tough luck. All I care about is rescuin' Elly."

Spirit sends one of the dropped spears flying into the blue guard, sticking him…he lates out a pain-filled cry but manages to stay on his feet…
The red guard makes a wild attempt at poking Mheenah…

…and strikes her…but this nature of weapon is not enough to damage a quasit…and red’s eyes glaze over as the effort of the attack takes the last of his strength…

Mheenah’s teeth get through the guard’s defenses…while it looks to do only minor damage, it appears to do just enough to do in the badly injured guard…he tries a weak thrust in response but fails and, with a heavy sigh, he slinks down slowly to the floor…

Mheenah moves forward and looks frantically up and down the halls, left right and center.
Lorelei moves forward as well, sniffing the ground for her child's trail.

Sorry, could’ve swore I had posted this last night…
Lorelei sniffs for her child’s scent…while she can slightly make it out, it permeates from this room but not so much in the hallways…
Meanwhile, Mheenah flits around the hallways for signs…to the north, she sees where hallways that fork in different directions…to the south a long plodding hallway that ends with a door…and to the east, she sees a lofty room with a ceiling 15' over the floor, supported by six stout columns of unadorned wood, and a pool of mud in the center…

Spirit finds nothing remarkable about, or within, the large room…he does note that the pool of mud is quite thick and would be difficult to move through. He also notes just one exit from this chamber, leading east…

Mheenah had already fluttered through the room invisibly and was heading for the eastern exit, but she stops long enough to give the mud an appraising look.

Mheenah detects no magic emanating about, or within, the mud. She and Lorelei come to the conclusion that it’s just a pool of ordinary mud…the only purpose they can surmise is the lair’s inhabitants, or perhaps reptilian creatures, like bathing in it?

Mheenah checks the exit east and sees a long hallway leading north and south. To the south, the hallway bends back west and she sees it ends in a door; to the north, she also sees a door before that hallway also bends to the west…
Updated the map to reveal said doors.

Mheenah follows Spirit, but before starting to unlock the door, she moves west along the north hallway just enough to peak into the opening in the hallway.

Mheenah peeks around the corner and sees…
…this shallow pool of clear, still water. Hundreds of small and apparently blind fish dart through the water, but there seems to be nothing else of interest here.

Mheenah returns to the locked door and tries to unlock it after first checking it for traps.

Mheenah finds no traps and, with a bit of effort, she successfully jimmies the lock. She opens the door to find…
…a small storage room that contains 15 casks and kegs, raised off the dirt floor on wooden shelves. After a little examination, you find most of these contain the low-grade wine and watery beer, probably reserved for cultists of lower esteem…but four small casks are private stock, most likely for only the higher ups. These are all full. Two contain a strong, dark beer; the others contain Velunan Fireamber and Orlane Special wines.

The only thing besides beer that Spirit finds is the wine…so he bounds off to the west…
Ironic that Spirit does not care for…spirits… :)
Passing the pool of water, the impulsive ferret comes to where the hallway branches; to the north, he sees the another hallway running east-west, to the south, a door…

Going north and then east, Spirit sees the hallway extend a long way, with two doors on its northern face…

The door is unlocked…but the door sticks for a moment before opening. The small chamber has a pile of mud in a far corner from a slowly eroding wall, but contains nothing of value. Spirit finds the same in the neighboring chamber after opening the other door,,,

Mheenah glances down the western passage, spying that not only does it end in a door, there’s also a corridor branching south before the door…

Seeing the western passage empty for now, Mheenah narrows her beady little eyes.
"Where is everybody?" she wonders out loud.
Then she turns around buzzes off down the eastern passage, heading deeper into the complex. She peeks south around the corner.

The lack of not seeing anyone since the guards at the entrance is rather disconcerting to Mheenah…as she glances down the southern passage, she notices it ends in a chamber with water, perhaps a pool or underground grotto. She also notices a small passage branching east, ending in a door…

Spirit rashly opens the door, noticing a large black "X" scorched into the door. Within, four thick columns support the beams of an arched chamber ceiling, 25' high. A 20'wide, 20' high corridor leads from the eastern side of the room. Pitch notices what appears to be mud on the floor of the corridor leading east…

The wolf moves past the open door with the big black X and looks around.
"Something about this room is special, if they marked the door." she says. "And I'm guessing that the black X doesn't stand for a nice kind of special."
She sniffs and listens intently.

From her current viewpoint, Mheenah can’t see the entire room, but she can tell the pool extends beyond her sight in what she’d guess to be a very large chamber. While very shallow around its perimeter, the pool appears deeper the further away from the edges. A stagnant, musty smell is strong here. The water is relatively clear and many small fish can be seen.
Lorelei doesn’t get a good read on the other chamber…she can’t pick up a scent other than the musty smell coming from the pool room…

Spirit the Ferret |

Spirit boldly heads out into the room... on the wall. He scurries on the vertical surface towards the eastern passageway out of this room. "Probably it's to fool us! They wanted to make us not look here, so it's where we should look!"

Those closest to the door with the ‘X’ (all except Mheenah) hear a light, joyful noise, slowly building in volume…it’s emanating from beyond the eastern corridor that’s covered in mud…it is a wondrous song from a delightful and feminine voice…
Need a Will save from Spirit, Mr Pitch, and Lorelei…
