With more Dimension Door magic, Spirit gets Lorelei and Mr. Pitch past the shrieker again and joing Mheenah...

With some help from Lorelei, Mheenah unbars the door...

Upon opening the door, you find a small holding cell. You also find it empty other than some straw laid out on the floor as a pallet and a used chamber pot...lying in the straw, you notice something glitters, piece of jewelry...

Mheenah:
You identify this piece of jewelry as an earring; and you know without a doubt, it's one of Elly's...

Lorelei:
You sense the smell of your son...and you can discern that he was here within the past day...

Spirit is disappointed to find the room empty. "Oh no... they're already gone!" he exclaims--quietly, because he remembers the troglodytes are nearby. "But maybe someone upstairs knows where! We should go ask them!"

Mheenah looks utterly crestfallen as she roams about the empty cell, then picks up a bit of silver.

"She was here. This is her nose-ring. We were too late. If only we'd come here sooner..."

She wipes a couple black tears from her hideous little face, then unclasps the ring and puts it about her neck and clicks it shut again.

"It's not fair." she complains to the universe. She then shambles back out into the hall and goes to check the other door, already guessing what they'll find.


"There, there." Mr. Pitch said, trying to console the quasit. "We shall find them."

You open the other door and find it empty as well…you see footprints that would seem to belong to Spirit’s and Mr. Pitch’s masters, confirmed by Lorelei’s heightened sense of smell…

I messed up the trogs on the map slide. I misclicked one and before I knew it, two of them had completely vanished. I'm a klutz.

...a hall with a gleaming white tile floor and a series of alcoves along the east wall. Each alcove is lined with black velvet to highlight the beautiful golden items there, statues in the shape of plants...

The fact that the reptile god's minions have let the exquisite items remain in their traditional spots should suggest that it might be best not to tamper with them...

You recall that one of Merikka's domains is nature and these statues reflect that...

Its not punishment if you enjoy it or actively seek it. It may be difficult for you to understand purely due to your inherent nature...but people pray to show faith..because they want to believe in something greater than can help them

Spirit & Mheenah take in the view down the trap door…something feels familiar about it so Mheenah flies down for a quick look. She notices it’s just another entrance into the temple cellar that you’ve already explored…she can see the stairs you originally came down about 50’ west of this trap door…

Spirit opens the door telekinetically to reveal a large chamber...it appears to be a dining room...

This is the room where the clerics, monks, and servants all take their meals together. The pretense of goodness is maintained in a handsome display case, which contains examples of some of the finer harvests to come from the Orlane area: a huge carrot, a plump ear of corn, a cluster of tall wheatstalks, and a bottle of the local wine.

As late as it is, you find the room is currently empty of people...

Mheenah opens up the first hallway door closest to the dining room, and finds and empty prayer cell except for the prayer mat, as before...Spirit checks it out but finds no trapdoor this time...

Upon opening the next door, Mheenah finds herself face-to-face with a ticked off monk, who takes a punch at her...

Fist: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

...but even surprised as she was, Mheenah is able to barely duck the punch...

As Mr. Pitch casts a spell, Mheenah and Spirit go on the attack…

Mheenah’s bite and both claws tear into the monk’s flesh…

…although the monk grimaces in pain, it withstands the poison…

The resourceful Spirit sends the prayer mat flying at the monk…but alas, his aim is off…

…but you have no time to relax as the other two closed doors open and a monk appears in each, the first attacking Mr. Pitch…

…and the other Lorelei…

…catching both by surprise, both punches land, a glancing blow to the raven and a bit more solid blow to Lorelei’s midriff…

Mheenah whistles off like an angry wasp, buzzing off circuitously down the hallway then dive-bombing down at yellow's neck for a bite attempt.

"Oh I'm sorry, did we spoil your prayers to the slimy smelly snake goddess?!" she snarls as she gnaws at the monk's skin and bats feebly at the back of his head with her tail.
