"I hear ya. I hear ya. We have so much to learn from you Iruxi. About the stars, the heavens and signs inbetween. Closing the doors on this trade would close doors on knowledge - certainly you don't want that!" Manny isn't smart but he knows how to sweet talk his way out of learning. Just the potential to teach should be enough to excite them.

Diplomacy, Ally of Iruxi: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 12 + 2 = 34
Manny's Diplomacy DC is increased by 1 since he tried Diplomacy already... not that it will matter with that roll!

Manny mentally high fives Shylye, who he is certain is impressed with his charismatic approach.

Raznik frowns at the talk of portents and stars. The goblin huffs. "We no stupid. Iruxi know more about stars and stuff in sky. But there lots of things iruxi don't know about. Like, tasty grubworm and slug pies. Or what about goblin dog itching powder? Or how to use gobbo spit to heal wounds and make floors sticky and shiny. Maybe you teach us about how stars move, and we teach you how to mix craggy moss to make fizzy drinks!"

The silver tongue bard speaks of how much we have to learn from the Iruxi it would prevent the other races from learning about the stars, heavens, and signs. The passion and sincerity that Manny delivers the speech with sways many of the Iruxi. (critical success)

Raznik frowns as he speaks of sharing knowing stuff like Iruxi teach about stars and sky stuff, and goblins teach about tasty grubworm and slug pies. While the agreement sounds crazy the Iruxi see the wisdom in the goblin’s words. The issue is settled in your favor.

The negotiations continue for several more hours hammering out details until one last sticking point is brought up. ” What do they have that we want?”

The Iruxi point out ” Much of what they used to receive from the people of Vidrian years ago is of little value to the Iruxi now. Ekkeshikaar wants for little and has thrived without any assistance from up north. What exactly does Vidrian have to offer that we would want?”

You feel this is the last issue and after it is decided the council will decide on the treaty.

speical rules & items:

Before the negotiations begin, Calisro hands the PCs four vials, containing a total of two one doses of moderate cognitive mutagen and two one doses of moderate silvertongue mutagen, explaining ” They may come in handy, and that you should use them amongst themselves as you see fit”

(You can wait until hearing a challenge, then decide to drink a mutagen before answering and apply it to your check for that challenge. The mutagens last for 10 minutes each, and because the challenges are scattered throughout the day, this means that whenever a mutagen is consumed, it applies to 1 challenge.)

• Characters with the Iruxi Bane boon gain a +2 circumstance bonus on Intimidation checks made as part of a negotiation challenge but take a –2 circumstance penalty on all other checks made as part of a negotiation challenge.
• When a PC attempts the same type of skill check that they have already attempted on a previous challenge, increase the check’s DC by 1 for each prior use. For example, if a PC decides to attempt Deception checks for every challenge, the DC is 20 for Breach of Contract, 21 for Colonial History, 22 for Ill Omens, and so forth.

The Council of Stars, as well as those in opposition to the proposed trade deal, raise several challenges to the deal over the course of the negotiations, which must be answered or addressed.

"Trade with Vidrian opens the way for goods from Avistan to make their way to Ekkeshikaar: things from as far north as Irrisen and as far east as Qadira and Jalmeray, things you do not even realize that your people want. However, the most valuable of commodities that trade with Vidrian brings is ideas. Ekkeshikaar is magnificent, but without an influx of new ideas--both to change and reinforce old ideas--societies stagnate. You do not want to go the path of Cheliax or Taldor."

Chulyin offers that everything would be anything and everything including ideas. This moves many Iruxi to agree.

Manny drinks down the silvertoung mutagen and speaks about new music and singing and instruments. Unfortunately, the Iruxi don’t seem to be open to new music.

Sir Reinhart does his best to explain the general benefits of trade.

"Consider the advantages that stronger ties with Vidrian would give you. They know of hardship having suffered under the infernal yoke of Cheliax for many years. They would surely not let their allies suffer, and trade brings you closer to being friends."

Raznik suggests food likes chickens, tree bark, and other things. At first, the Iruxis were not convinced, but then they started to nod in agreement.

Sir Reinhart is the last to speak he talks about hardship and suffering by the Vidrian at the hands of the Cheliax that that would make for stronger friends. The Iruxis agree that they would be stronger with strong allies.

With the last matter settled the negotiations come to a close and the Council of Stars takes a vote as to whether or not to enact the trade agreement as it has been presented. It doesn’t take long for them to agree to a particularly generous trade agreement to the Vidrian.
