I personally LOVE the idea that the team comes back to the Inn wanting to feast a little ... with Nathan's Aunt May's vegetarian meatloaf as the centerpiece ;)Nathan "Cable" Grey wrote:Nate has also been working very VERY hard to master Aunt May's meatloaf skills, as well as trying to work through what it would take to make it on the road.
Like everything it would take: cookware, process of open fire cooking, ingredient adaptation, the works.
There were any number of reasons for this, but one of them was that hunting was messy & disruptive, where foraging, while time consuming, was a good way to both scout an area AND make dinner ;)
Come to think of it, having Aunt May as a specialty part-time cook for the inn would prolly be an easier sell rather than trying to convince Nathan's Uncle that having five rando adventurers over for supper is a fashionable thing to do. ;p
It might also be a possibility that sometimes Nathan occasionally has to help his Aunt and/or Uncle out in foraging for meatloaf supplies too? ;)

With great love, Nate is also going to find religion soon too.
Like, there has to be a god of adventuring he can pray to.
That he will "soon" be an adventurer ...
Since my impromptu Gameplay post, 2weeks ago, on my birthday, I think the team has posted like 5 times, aaaaaaand is no closer to town. And I get it, it is just as important to wait in the wings sometimes as to be center stage, but, the show kinda sorta must go on, right? Maybe? Please?
I feel like we have talked about meatloaf so much I should write to Lisa Steven's and ask if there's a Pathfinder Cookbook project yet.

I think we're waiting on th GM to shift the scene?
or i guess to get attacked on the way back. I'd avoid that though just to shift to player in one group.

Wonder if mebbe DM rel20 is busy finishing up on some Organized Play stuff [pbp?]- GenCon finished not too long ago; so the timing would fit. Happy Belated B-Day though, Nathan. :)
Hmm, checking back on our earlier arrival to the Keep from Swallowfeld, we only had to do a survival check each; mebbe we could pre-roll that survival check, just in case?
pre-emptive Survival roll, if needed: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12.
We could prolly deal with any tower complications when DM rel20 gets back.

Well if they need them. I'm fine with GM rolling some checks if needed.
I'm also fine with soft skipping to meeting, or if newbies are fine, quick skipping back to the "castle with others in tow" and players can RP intro and conversations in discussion as a retrofiting. (as those will involve the GM less).
Whatever works for GM's current life style. I'm quite flexible. Flexibility is the main benefit of pbp.

Sorry for the delay. My PC died unexpectedly and trying to troubleshoot/get parts during a pandemic induced shortage was rather painful. My system isn't where I'd like it to be, but I'm slowly picking up the pieces for pbp.
I pretty much ended up getting a new cpu/motherboard/ram, but I'm still sitting on an ancient GPU which I guess is a good thing given the current prices.
What are we looking at? Did we lose anyone else during this time? Posts were rather spartan to begin with during the recruitment phase.

Sorry to hear about your computer troubles, DM rel20, but it's good that you're doing okay otherwise.
I think that everyone in the game, new and old, are pretty much present for the most part. :)

@Randall/Nathan - please update the alias with your character info and background.
Should we have them posting in-game once that gets done?

I want to revise/tweak the last bit of details before they start posting. In the meantime, the party can take care of sales/miscellaneous tasks.
I suspect meeting them in the inn will be easiest, so once the party is done, we can do the meetup there... just in case someone wants to get a post or two in as they wrap up.

Can't post atm but Zupon will mainly be refilling his reusable healer's kit. and maybe buying a Healer's Kit, or two, and if he has the spare gold some rations.

So from the sound of things, having the goblin plus proof of the Red-Haired Warrior's demise dropped off to the guards [or even possibly freed?] and sending Reithic on his way would be "hand-waved" as being already done before going to the inn or would all of us [with Reithic and goblin in tow] immediately go to the inn- and thereby getting Maban's and Bleja's input [and any possible shenanigans that may or may not follow] on what to do next?
We'd definitely gonna have to sell off the gem/cutlery and figure out how to distribute all of the treasures among us in six [or more?] ways. ;)
I will not assume Nate is at the Inn.
(unless someone wants to tell me it is Sunday)
Not sure if we've actually established on what day it is when we've returned to town but we mebbe can hand-wave it to being on [or close to] Sunday?

Chigao Waiyo |

Welcome to both of your posts, Randall and Nathan. :)
Zupon, Andru, and Xef: Any thoughts on possibly using the silvered cutlery set as a bribe to Bleja and Maban for getting all of us and Reithic some cleaning and lodgings- if they really aren't important for some plot related reasons?

We're 3rd party classes.. thats literally why. A lot of norms aren't norms in 3rd party :p

Wow - I came in at the wrong moment, I was #DAMN I think they are taking a bath together! But I guess not ...
:(
Heh, somehow I suspect that Bleja and Maban wouldn't been all that supportive about some cleaning up for that goblin. ;p
and how does this party have NO ONE to cast Presitigation!?!?!?!?
like why are you all so durty?
you like roll around on your kills or something?Like it took an Astral Deva and 3 acts of god just to get the bodies buried, seems like you may need to buy a scroll or something ...

Unfortunately, there's no arcane-casting classes among us but this thing about Prestidigitation though might be something that Nathan [or Randall?] could bring up in character though? ;)

We could probably bribe the Innkeeps with the silverware once Chigao and Xef get back from the hold. :)

K ...
My turn ...
Team Shadow Keep: with ALL due respect, guys, it's been 2 MONTHS.
I'm not even sure if I should type that in Dwarvish or Goblin or what.
TWO MONTHS!
So please PLEASE understand that having my character reviewed, lol, AND to have it to be found wanting!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
GUYS - I have checked these threads every day for like 60 days.
I can, I have the time, and that's cool for me, but #DAMN.
Like, for real though.
I have made jokes, I have made backstory, I have made conversation ... and 60 days later I'm getting asked a bunch of character validation questions!? PUBLICALLY!?!?
There has got to be like an Aunt May / Uncle Ben joke in here
At the moment though, I am really really missing it.

Speaking from personal experience GMing, I don't really audit peoples' character sheets right off since it's lower priority than getting people into the game. Minor character niggles can be worked out any time, and I generally trust people to do things right. So even months into the game I'll sometimes notice something and ask a player "Hey, is XYZ right on this sheet?" usually the answer is "Yes, here's how". Occasionally it's "No, lemme fix it".
Currently, regardless of character sheet validation, there seems to be perfect opportunity to kind of wedge yourself into the game so everything starts chugging along smoothly. No rolls seemed to be needed currently so you should be able to post even if there are kinks that need to be ironed out.
I will say it's typically pretty bad to rely on HeroLab for...well, anything really but especially for anything involving 3PP material. HeroLab is a great tool for building a character fast if you already know how; not so much for learning material you're not familiar with.

I really appreciate the response SD.
The reality is, I rely on HL because it's all that I have with me on the road. While I get that the 3PP stuff isn't even their own proprietary content, there isn't actually anything wrong. So if I just need to be told to pull the undesirable content, I can handle that. And yeah, I have found holes in their paid content too, many many times, but I usually just point it out and move on.

and Ill chime in, as a DM I second Stormdragons apprising of the situation. I wouldnt take personal offense, Just know the GM's job isnt to drive you away, but if he has questions, no matter how long into it, just roll with it. Its never personal.
Ive had questions of a players sheet years into a game...;) mistakes get made, even in a table top in person game.

RE: the timeline, the group hasn't been posting on a 1/day rate. Although I do monitor the game daily, I've also been going with the flow. If the posts are open-ended or more party dialogue, I will wait until a DM based post is needed. Yes, there were some untimely delays that stacked, probably making it hard for people to get back in the groove, but I believe that goes both ways. The group may want to push for a faster rate moving forward, which can be discussed separately.
RE: the character sheet, it's making sure the crunch is accurate so that no one has an advantage (or disadvantage) based on errors and from a testing perspective, accurate feel for the class. It's not to delay posting or entry into the game. In fact, I think the expectation is that your character would chime in at the inn as well.
The original players cross-checked each other to split the work load. I had questions before but the profile looked incomplete or in progress and the additional rules question prompted circling back to it. As I mentioned before, I don't have all the material, and it's possible d20pfsrd isn't accurate, which is all the better reason to inquire.

On the topic of reviewing and such.
oct 8 the GM asked for stats, and then asked for the background update around the same week. So 2 weeks isn't a big leap.
The lead up of 60 days due in large part to broken PC is unfortunate but reasonable.
That said we're group crowd sourcing so we'll figure out the sheet together and we'll all learn abit of content we never saw before. Which is a big draw of this group. As we're in RP stage the crunch learning or readjusuting can take a bit of time as needed. We probably wont' be ambushed in town.
on the Topic of RP. Hop in as you see fit, or ask the GM for an intro if you wish for one. This group so far has tended to go in ebs and flows. Sometimes we post a great deal, and sometimes we post a few times a week respectively.
Been a bit of an ebb and flow for the 10 months we've played. So its probably a bit more of finding the jive with two new posters and getting through the short hiccup of all of us re-finding where we were plotwise, respective motivations. As we had the PC brekage break, as well as a prolonged (like 2-3 encounters in one?) turned based combat.

Thank you - given that I have "hopped in" previously, and it felt like I got my hand slapped, AND i have asked the GM for an intro, which I have to believe precipitated the character crunch finally being reviewed, I think I will sit tight.
I've wanted to play for months, what's a couple more weeks?
PS - I spent a lifetime in tech support, so no one has greater empathy for PC outages that I do (or for the idiosyncrasies of Herolab's programming)

@Nathan: If it'll make you feel any better, I sorta thought that since you didn't put in the 8 question background stuff into your profile yet [original or updated]... I sorta figured that mebbe you were going thru a RL rough-patch and decided to give ya enough space to work it all thru before you were ready to post in-game (speaking for just myself in RL though).
Please feel free to post into the game-play thread though, when you're feeling up to it. :)
PS. We'll prolly hafta work out on all the goblin stuff, getting Reithic cleaned up, meeting Randall, and smoothing things over with the Innkeeper and his Wife ['cuz of that goblin] in the meantime though. ;)
