GM bigboom |
Welcome to Gameday IX and thank you for joining my table of 1-11 In Pursuit of the Scoured Past! More details coming soon!
GM bigboom |
Howdy everyone!!! I now have the slides up! Links are up top and in my name header!
We're about a week away from starting so I ask that everyone please go ahead and enter your character information into slide 2, including dayjob rolls. You may roll your dayjobs here in the discussion thread.
And then on slide 3, please enter your initiative and your perception. Also on slide 3, please set up your marching order.
If you haven't already, please:
1) Bring your character sheets up to date
2) Dot in on the gameplay thread
Lastly, feel free to introduce yourselves in character and/or banter in the gameplay thread prior to our official start on Sept 1.
Any questions? Please fire away!!!
Oddman |
Heyas!
Oddman is focused on throwing weapons, so he'll work better just behind the melee character(s), where he can position himself to avoid cover penalties and still be within the short range of his weapons.
Altorin Cyrido |
Profession (Gambler): 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
As sure as the sun shines, Altorin finds a streak of luck in star-craps.
---
Altorin does a pretty good job of keeping enemies off their feet and soaking up their hits if they get to stand up.
---
For introductions and banter, are we on a shuttle to Athaeum or at the Lorespire before the mission officially starts?
Ceolor Xusha |
Profession (Wilderness Expedition Writer): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Ceolor's most recent holonovel is about a group of six small or smaller sized races in bright colored spandex and how they fight forces of evil! The leader is a gallant ysoki who tamed a dragon from Triaxus and dresses in red. There's a skittermander with a penchant for baking in blue, a raxilite in green who can hack almost anything living or mechanical, a magic-casting gnome in yellow, and a halfling in pink who could charm a baby out of a mother's arms in 10 seconds flat. A big twist comes in when the mystrious member in white who only showed up for fights with their helmet on and no where else is found out to be a goblin! Despite the playful aspects of the story id does deal with some heavier topics, such as size discrimination and prejudices against goblins, as well as lightly dipping into topics about the nature of evil and what prevents people from acting against evils ingrained in a society.
The book seems to sell well, if only with younger populations.
================
Ceolor is not a great frontline solarion; he has a solar flare and likes to shoot at people from range. He's been out in front and taken some nasty nasty hits before so he avoids that as much as possible. He's also a culture monster and has a fair few other skills.
Oda Umox |
Profession Mercenary: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Oda is mute having had her voicebox damaged. She communicates via her com unit (text message), rudimentary sign language and foot stamping.
Oddman |
Oda is mute having had her voicebox damaged.
This would probably do the trick: Keening Larynx "A keening larynx necrograft completely replaces your vocal cords."
Unless it's a honor battle scar or some similar setup.
Oda Umox |
It is a character decision. It is a badge of honour for her. I have looked at sign language and it does exist in SFS but I have not looked at it closely enough to know how to get it for her. I may do that in the days before the game starts.
Oddman |
A character can learn
the signed or tactile version of a language she knows, either as
a bonus language or by putting a rank in the Culture skill (see
page 139). A character who begins play blind automatically knows
the tactile versions of any languages she knows; a character who
begins play deaf automatically knows the signed versions.
Since it's a battle scar, you'll probably need to put a rank in Culture for it - if the character was born mute, then I doubt any GM wouldn't give it for free (though the rules only mention deaf or blind - not even the Vlaka have a "mute only" version).
Oda Umox |
I found that clause too and took a rank in culture when I leveled her up from 3 to 4 after last game.
Hermena |
Profession (Surveyor): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 Unsuccessful attempt to check a box for Rebuilding Nakondis boon on Chronicle #1.
Cool that Oddman and Hermena both have the Against the Aeon Throne chronicles! Maybe we can tie together their relative experiences in the AP.
Of not, Oddman, you still need to succeed on a DC 16 Profession check for Rebuilding Nakondis - you don't automatically check a box during the scenario.
Oddman |
Although I make use of the chronicle sheets from the AP, the events that took place there are not a part of the character's past - I only take in consideration the SFS scenarios.
I just take 10 on the profession roll, making it an automatic success.

You can take 10 on that roll?! Here I was rolling for it like a sucker.
Can I change my Profession check to a take 10 and succeed, GM?
GM bigboom |
Profession check? What profession check? All I see is a take 10...
;-)

Thanks Bigboom, and thanks Oddman for enlightening me to that lovely trick!
GM bigboom |
Alrighty!! Looks like everyone's got character sheets up and have signed in on the slides. I'll start posting up the briefing when Gameday officially starts.
In the meantime, some things to do/note:
GM bigboom |
And regarding suggested boons, it is suggested to slot the High Society Influence (Royo) social boon from Starfinder Society Scenario #1–05: The First Mandate if you have it.
Ceolor Xusha |
Dangnabit Royo is literally the one person Ceolor didn't get that boon for when he played that scenario.
Altorin Cyrido |
Alright, benching my Hireling for the High Society Influence from this guys GM credit for the scenario.
Oda Umox |
I have slotted the following.
Ally: High Society Influence (Royo)
Faction: Acquisitives Champion
Personal: Half-Orc Admittance
Promotional: -
Social: Honorary Spider
Starship: Skitter Pal
Slotless: Starfinder Insignia; Abysshead Download
Oddman |
Boons (not that I usually remember to use them...) :
Second Seekers: Luwazi Elsebo (faction)
Cedona (Ally)
Live Air Celebrity (Social)
Aeon Caster Launcher Upgrade (Starship)
Rebuilding Nakondis (Slotless)
Altorin Cyrido |
If Royo doesn't mind wearing a Space Goblin IPA shirt he can have my re-roll. Not sure if he is the drinking type of Ysoki.
Altorin Cyrido |
Doesn't seem too dangerous. I don't have a bonus to Intelligence other than what Royo provides but I also have a lot of Wisdom should I really fail that many times!
Oddman |
Wow, my one success was actually useful!
Hermena |
I’ll be camping this weekend and likely won’t be able to post often. Feel free to bot me as needed to keep the momentum going.
GM bigboom |
Believe it or not, we're already getting close to the end of the scenario. There are two things I need to ask everyone to do.
Firstly, please check your character details on slide 4. I'll be using that information for your chronicles so if anything is incorrect, please correct it.
Secondly, time to roll for convention boons! Everyone roll a 1d20 and if you roll a 19 or 20, then you win a boon!
If you win a boon, then roll another 1d3 to determine which boon you win:
1 - Unversal Explorer
2 - Starfinder Season 1 Explorer
3 - Temporal Anomaly
Here's my roll!!
Convention boon roll: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Dagnabbit!!!
Oddman |
Lottery: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Close, but no dice.
Hermena |
Boon: 1d20 ⇒ 17
Oddman |
I guess they put everything they got in this combat!
Too bad for the machine gun hot dogs, without them we'll just stomp these heckknights...
Altorin Cyrido |
I was looking forward to the heckin good boys till you mentioned the shoulder mounted machine guns. What is next, sharks with lasers?
GM bigboom |
Just for fun since you won't be facing them anyways, I've put up the stats for the hellhounds on the slides. Note that these hellhound stats apply for tier 5-6. Integrated shoulder machine guns!!
Perhaps sharks with lasers.... or neon dinosuars with laser beam eyes??
Also, it didn't come up IC but Loomarch's full name is: Loomarch Devilbound. Just sharing because I kind of like the sound of his last name.
Ceolor Xusha |
WAIT I never did a Boon Roll?: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (20) + 0 = 20
Just realized I never rolled for the boon thing.
More on topic I know that there's a grenade launcher touting Unicorn in Starfinder lore now!
GM bigboom |
Congrats! You win a boon! Can you also drop a 1d3 to determine which boon you've won?
Oddman |
Also, it didn't come up IC but Loomarch's full name is: Loomarch Devilbound. Just sharing because I kind of like the sound of his last name.
"It is I, Nastius McEvildoer!"

Bahahaha!!!
GM bigboom |
[dice=Which boon?]1d3
Woop, I did? Yay
I'll ask for your email address via PM. As usual, the boon will be delivered to you via email. Congrats!!!
GM bigboom |
Primary success conditions: The PCs complete their primary mission if they successfully navigate the mindmaze (or Royo does so on their behalf) and defeat the Hellknights. Doing so earns each PC 1 Fame and 1 Reputation for any factions associated with their currently slotted Faction boon.
Secondary success conditions: If the PCs successfully complete two of the following, then they earn 1 additional Fame and 1 Reputation for any factions associated with their currently slotted Faction boon: reclaim the virus from the lore wardens, return Vindurth to its cage alive, or save at least some books in the burning library.
Congrats!! You've satisfied both conditions and get 2 fame and 2 reputations points!
Chronicles are located here: CLICK
Please take a look and reply here in this thread to say it looks okay or if you need something added/corrected. Once I hear back from everyone, I'll report and archive this game so please drop me a response here.
Thanks again for playing and I hope you all had a good time!!!
(@Ceolor, can you respond to my PM with your email? I'll need to submit your email so that the convention organizers will get back to you with the boon that you won!)
Altorin Cyrido |
It looks good, thank you for running the fun and flavorful game. Thanks to all the players as well!
Oddman |
Chronicle is good, thanks for GMing!
Hermena |
Great game, everyone! Chronicle sheet looks good. Thanks for running BigBoom, it was a blast!
GM bigboom |
Thanks for the confirmation guys!!
Ceolor, how's your chronicle look and can you PM me your email? Once I hear back from you, I'll report the game and archive these threads. Thank you!!!
Ceolor Xusha |
Chronicle looks good! And pm sent with email! Sorry to keep you waiting! Had a few days off work and I did not get sat down to post anything most of them!
GM bigboom |
No worries! Glad your absence wasn't due to anything bad happening! Alrighty guys, I'll be reporting the game momentarily and archiving these threads within the next 24 hours.
