WftC Recruitment - Round 2 (Inactive)

Round 2 will begin Monday morning (ET) and finish Saturday morning. We are looking for 4-5 posts spread out across the 5 days. Character motivations will be sent via PM this time, and should remain secret. The setting is a pirate ship, but you can still bring any character--remember, it needs to be a different PC than you used in round 1. If your preferred character doesn't fit the setting, I will come up with some sort of explanation that makes sense; just play who you want and don't worry.

This has been a very interesting recruiting. I'm excited for it, especially given the heavy RP of this AP. I'm looking forward to this week.

We are still short one PC and all three NPCs, so pushing back the start time until Tuesday morning.

This is Ouachitonian. Sorry I didn't check in earlier, I was planning on just jumping right in when it started on monday.

Backstory:

Captain Sabjorn recently exiled a well liked member of the crew, Blanchbeak. Unfortunately, Blanchbeak was also their contact with several employers. The captain heard Lord Vitori often has need for a ship in their line of work, and has approached him.

As a test, Lord Vitori has hired the ship for a mission, and is tagging along to see how they do. Sir Drystan Goldenflame is his bodyguard.

Details about individual motivations will be PMed, and should remain secret--so if you have any questions, send them privately. I tried to keep the motivations simple and vague, so that you can improvise more easily.

I wasn't sure if this was our "official" start, or if we were to wait for you to set the scene. I've PM'd you the post I'll open with if you're expecting us to begin on our own. I don't know when I'll be checking this thread tomorrow, and didn't want you to wait around on me, so I'm covering my bases. If you wanted us to begin, please post that in my stead if you are comfortable with that.

My GM profile now has a section about some of my rulings and interpretations, which should give you a better idea of my GMing style. I strongly encourage you to read it all, as my style is not for everyone.

If you've gotten this far in the recruitment, it's unlikely that you would hate the way I GM, but that doesn't mean you would actively enjoy it either. And if there's any information that would help you figure out whether you'd have fun with us, ask away.

Is there some kind of check I can make here? And how are rolls handled? As-built, Dumm doesn't actually have any sailoring skills, I'm just kind of improvising.

For simplicity, let's just say that opposed checks roll unmodified d20s and unopposed checks automatically succeed.

I will post the decision as soon as we are done discussing, which should be by tomorrow night.
