The Triune Alliance (Inactive)

Game Master EltonJ

A campaign set in our galaxy. Ships either warp space to get from place to place, or they use Time Travel.

In the vastness of Space, no one can hear you scream . . .

In our Galaxy, beyond the Orion Spur, and perhaps on the opposite side, is a space that is 100 ly x 100 ly x 100 ly. Named for the Bahamut Constellation that dominates it, this space is inhabited by all sorts of life. Within this space are five human dominated planets and a dragon dominated one. These planets have achieved star flight and have banded together in a common interest. Beyond their space are enemies, friends, and rivals. Such is the problem of blasting off and exploring the vastness of space.

The six worlds are classic D&D campaigns: Oerth (Greyhawk), the government head; Eberron (Eberron), the magi-tech world; Krynn (Dragonlance), the backwater; Athas (Dark Sun), the desert; Aebyrnis (Birthright), the isolated one; and Io (Council of Wyrms), the dragon world. Each of these worlds achieved Starflight by experimenting with Time Travel -- the way you get around in the Universe. Oerth figured it out technologically, by building time machines. Eberron also built Time Machines, as eldritch machines. Krynn figured it out with a spell -- Time Reaver. The rest either used magic or they used technology.

The six worlds came together in an Alliance and explored space together. This campaign is about the exploration of Space. You come from one of these worlds. But each have their own quirks. I'm looking for five to six players, willing to explore the Bahamut sector.

Races

* Humans (origin from one of the six worlds, although humans on Io are enslaved by the dragons)
* Androids (built by one of the six worlds)
* Kasathas (One of the pilgrims to Athas, fleeing your mother world for religious freedom)
* Lashuntas (found in their own system)
* Shirrens (also found in their own system)
* Vesk (found outside the Bahamut Sector, probably looking for conquest)
* Ysoki (also found on their own planet)

--------------------------

You may use the Starfinder Core Rulebook, the Character Operations Manual, Near Space, and Pact Worlds to figure out your characters. Have fun!

I would be interested. Probably a Vesk or Kasathas.

Solarian, Android, former model of a corporation front desk receptionist-type that gained their spark after they had been repurposed into a "vanity companion". Their Patron's passing has left them at loose ends, and they realized that their service has left them with an extreme wanderlust and thrill-seeking complex. The Starfinders certainly fit the bill.
(Played by Henry Cavill or Isaiah Mustafa.)

Neat.

Interested. Have only been involved in one Starfinder table game to date. Human works for me (am an android in the other SF campaign.)

Maybe last remaining member of a doomed diplomatic staff from Athas who has no desire to return...

Question - how deep into the core Athas world do you want me to go in getting a PC together?
PC's in Dark Sun have a certainty of psionics, and treat almost all arcane magic with extreme prejudice (defilers.) Plus - no gods in Dark Sun. Do you want me to ignore those for balance purposes and just say that their extreme environment and cultural norms have evened out since they have discovered star travel?

Athas is full of agnostics and atheists (an atheist heaven, maybe). On the opposite end, in Athas' star system there is a green blue orb where the people are certainly different.

However, to come from Athas, a mystic will need a different flavor (I suggest an Akashic Mystic). There wouldn't be any deities involved. Techno-Mages (or Technomancers) would be distrusted still because they still draw their power from the Life around them rather than the ether. That's part of the Rule of Cool for Athas.

Athas can become like Dune real quick in Starfinder. There are space ports near Tyr, but the Government for most of the city states are corrupt. The only exception to the rule are Kurn and New Kurn. However, there is no spice on Athas to help with time travel.

Athas is still a hot, barren desert planet, except for a few places.

I am interested as well. Do you want us to post characters here? Any special instructions for making the character (ability score generation, starting credits, etc.)

To make your characters, use the RAW. And yes, I'd like you to post your characters here.

Please meet Harukai.

Born and raised on Athas, Haruki spent his youth learning how to fight in the sandy pits, working his way up to the top of his cohort by the simple feat of lasting the longest in the heat, sand, and of course, the ritual combat. Learning little about modern technology other than weapons and armor, Harukai soon found himself transported to the next bigger town. The fighters there were much tougher, and his signature move of beating his opponent with their own weapon was much more difficult to accomplish.

Still, someone must have seen something in him--either his resilient spirit or his life of combat training--and decided to give him a chance to work in a more cosmopolitan environment. With all the technological advances in weaponry, many saw an unarmed man standing beside the minor political functionary to be no impediment to their plans. They found out otherwise, when their own weapons were turned against them by the resourceful Harukai. But Harukai knew there was something more to life than playing nursemaid to weak-kneed politicians. What he didn't know was when, or if, he would get his chance to choose his own path.

Got it. An aesthetic, huh?

Right. The idea is that he can use most weapons with his Soldier class, so when called upon he can move up, disarm a foe, and use the foe's own weapon against him. Striking unarmed as a magic weapon doing 1d4+4 isn't too bad at level one either. The link in the name should take you to the full character sheet.

Definitely interested. Thinking Lashunta Technomancer. I will work up a character to post.

That'll be awesome!

I've got the basics for Erlich, Piloting and corporate espionage his specialty.

Just need to know where we are going regarding starting wealth/equipment so I can adjust.

As mentioned, only been involved in one SF game to date, so if I have mis-stepped creation-wise, let me know.

Here's my submission.

Chiaiese of House Doublec
Techomancer
Female Damaya Lashunta, Xenoseeker

Background:
Remember what your mother told you, Colonel Biviano said to his daughters, watch quietly. We don't get Shirren envoys often.

I think they're ugly, replied Andanta.

The powerful Korasha admonished his youngest with a finger to his lips and a shush.

They're fascinating, observed the elder daughter, Chiaiese. Intrigued by their distinctly insectile appearance and mannerisms, the young Damaya sat enthralled by the entire experience. The Lashunta Diplomatic entourage was led by her mother Cacia, an esteemed mystic on the cultural university faculty and advisor to Lady Morana Kesh. Chiaiese barely noticed her father leave them to rejoin his General Staff of the Red Guard, a largely ceremonial unit of retired military officers.

The Lady herself stood at the end of the long chamber, flanked by dozens of dignitaries from across Castrovel, include many from Corporatist factions which, on any other day, actively worked to depose the monarch. This was a rare occasion indeed. The Diplomatic wing turned out as the Shirren envoy approached the end of the grand runner at the base of the dais. Cacia presented the foremost Shirren with the customary scepter, and received from him some odd token in return. It was all very formal.

Look at that funny one at the end, gestured Andanta, bumping against her older sister.

Father told us to be quiet, scolded Chiaiese, but her attention was diverted all the same. Oddly, the very last Shirren in the envoy was lagging behind the others, deliberately, it seemed, and constantly poking its head from side to side while it fidgeted with something under its long green cloak.

The young Damaya could not help herself from probing, forgetting that Lashunta Galactic Diplomatic Protocol expressly forbid such telepathic intrusions during ceremonial processions, under penalty of exile. At first, she merely detected the Shirren was, in fact, thinking, but its mind was racing. It was excited but fearful, and... there was anger, no, more than that, rage. Then an intelligent thought surfaced, and it flashed in Chiaiese's mind like lightning: "Do it now!" But the thought had velocity, direction, and she followed it, her eyes flowing over the crowd from her perch among the guest rows in the antechamber; she settled on the old Korasha standing beside her father, a General she knew - a family friend! The General received the Shirren assassin's telepathic thought and his hand reached for something behind his back.

Chiaiese shot to her feet, not knowing what was about to happen. She only knew she had to do something. Father, the Shirren and General Novus - they're going to hurt people! Her telepathic message was desperate, but it was all she could do.

Colonel Biviano straightened but did not reply. He slid closer to his old friend and put an arm around him, while the envoy filed past. The General froze, his plot exposed. Yet the Shirren continued ahead. Chiaiese redirected her mind. Now the assassin burned hatred, betrayed by its lone ally. She saw in its mind another flash, of how it would charge the dais and kill Lady Kesh.

In the next moment, Chiaiese screamed a thought at him, STOP! The Shirren halted as if struck, staggered before regaining its wits, and pulling the cloak aside, exposed a pistol. But it was careless, its mind slowed by the force of her command. She swatted the pistol out of its clawed hand telekinetically, and it rattled onto the floor. Now the rest of the guard could see plainly what was happening, and they acted swiftly, four of them collapsing on the rogue Shirren. The rest of the envoy turned and the ceremony abruptly halted.

"What is the meaning of this assault?" demanded the Shirren attache. A number of shouts rose up as the assassin pleaded its innocence.

Now Chiaiese' mother stepped forward and raised her hand, then bowed, Lady Kesh descending from the dais behind her to address the assembly.

"General Novus, explain yourself," she said, her voice commanding and clear.

Chiaiese shook, the swell of adrenaline washing over her. We'll talk about this tonight, the voice of her mother resounded in her mind. Then she added, You were very brave, Chasey. The Red Guard quickly emptied the chamber of guests, and Chiaiese and Andanta were escorted to their mother's office. They were surprised when, hours later, Lady Kesh herself walked into the office, with their parents behind her.

Lashunta ceremonial protocols are vital to our diplomatic efforts. We must never break them. As punishment, neither of you will be allowed entry to any such events ever agin. Do you understand me? Both girls nodded. Lady Kesh leveled her steely gaze at them, then, at the last moment before turning to leave, she winked.

Chiaiese (Chasey to her family and close friends) demonstrated her gifts at an early age, combining the talents of both of her parents - her father, an accomplished fleet commander, and her mother, mystic diplomat, and developing her path as a technomancer and xenobiologist. After graduating from Academy at the top of her class she interned in the offices of the Admiralty, applying her keen sense for alien biology and culture. She was on the fast-track to a position of diplomatic or political importance. But did she want it? As in every endeavor before, she excelled in the Admiralty, learning the systems and weapons of war, but also the politics of it. And yet, Chiaiese wanted something... more.

Ten years to the day after the incident with the Shirren envoy, she was summoned to Lady Kesh' office. I remember a girl who risked exile to save the monarchy. Does that same spirit stand before me now?

Chiaiese couldn't suppress a smile.

Welcome to the Camerarius, Agent Chiaiese, said Lady Kesh, handing over a datapad with the secretive Lashunta spy agency watermark. Here's your first assignment.

Description:
Tall and lithe, even by Damaya standards, Chiaiese stands just shy of 6'. She moves with aristocratic grace, but is constantly aware of the attitudes and temperament of those around her, and will adjust her mannerisms and even her posture to fit the room. Waves of mahogany hair hang to the small of her back, but she often wears it in a high pony tail, and when stealth or speed are required. Her skin is pale but shimmers in the light as is common among Qabartese Damayas. A tattoo of a Great Ursaur, a Castrovellian apex predator, lunges halfway around her lower torso, from backbone to belly.

I'm yer huckleberry. =)

Just a basic droid/robotisist. This was made for a previous campaign where the GM had a massively complex requirement for the character backgrounds, (so of course the GM ghosted after the first combat encounter. =/ ).

In touching all the touchstones I came up with something that I both like and am intrigued by. It can both be explored further, or nowhere else, and be a constant source for the RP fire. If you don't like something, I'll just delete it and keep the core. (Yes, it kinda resembles the origin of the first SW. Sometimes the classics are classic for a reason. =)

Anyway, I like both the character's combat mechanics (win initiative, build a wall *giggle*) and the RP of the hapless protagonist with the world-wise droid that has all the answers...but doesn't speak a language anyone understands. ^_^

Good times, good times.

Looks impressive.

I'd be interested in trying out a human Witchwarper. I'm not sure which planet she's from yet, but likely either Oerth or Athas.

Another Starfinder PBP I was in had a near-TPK due to not being able to heal up between encounters...perhaps if someone would play a healer, that could be very helpful...

Ah. Okay. I'll read up on the Witchwarper.

Yes, a healer could be very helpful.

Everyone's starting at first level, so you get your starting wealth.

Blargh. I tried playing a Mystic. But they nerfed magic so hard I just couldn't stomach it and switched characters. It's hard when the double-whammy you get to do three times a day is easily matched by everything the Op does every round.

Magic should be more powerful, actually.

How long do you plan to keep the Recruitment phase open?

Another week. ;)

Heya, really looking for more PBP games and, while hoping for an AP, I'm always interested in people's homebrew.

Unless you're really not interested in us using any other races but the core, I've rolled a human.

Specifically from the world of Io, Merric Kane was born to a family under the employ of their dragon overlords. Merric gained the interest of one of their masters and was experimented with, developing traits unique to humans.

Merric Kane
Gravity Dweller w/ Dusk Sight
Vanguard
Dragonblood

I have a couple other toons I've been playing with for a while if you would allow other races.

Xomtin(Tarzon/Ielia): Shakalta - Solarian/Mystic
Violaceous Wavadorite: Shimreen - Stunt Operative

Hope you're willing to have me and thank you for creating the 'Verse.

Sure Thallious. That seems like a great idea.

Sweet, I'm in. I'll wait for further info.

Anyone else?

Eltonj,
Part of the issue may be that you labeled this thread as an ‘Interest Check’ instead of a ‘Recruitment’, so you may be getting fewer visitors.

Alrighty. That would be it.

Okay, all of you are in.

Very cool - congrats, all!

Awesome! Let us know when you are ready for us to post in Gameplay.

Great! You can all post in Gameplay now.
Report there, and we can get started. Since most of you are from Athas, we can start there.
