About Harukai

Born and raised on Athas, Haruki spent his youth learning how to fight in the sandy pits, working his way up to the top of his cohort by the simple feat of lasting the longest in the heat, sand, and of course, the ritual combat. Learning little about modern technology other than weapons and armor, Harukai soon found himself transported to the next bigger town. The fighters there were much tougher, and his signature move of beating his opponent with their own weapon was much more difficult to accomplish.

Still, someone must have seen something in him--either his resilient spirit or his life of combat training--and decided to give him a chance to work in a more cosmopolitan environment. With all the technological advances in weaponry, many saw an unarmed man standing beside the minor political functionary to be no impediment to their plans. They found out otherwise, when their own weapons were turned against them by the resourceful Harukai. But Harukai knew there was something more to life than playing nursemaid to weak-kneed politicians. When he saves up enough credits, he is going to buy a starship and get off this rock!

The Sky Fire is that ship, and Harukai was able to purchase a 1/5 ownership with the other like-minded individuals who seek the freedom to travel the Drift as the winds of fortune prompt.
