@Elsha: Do I have hero points or something? I gave Hero Points out at the beginning.
you each have 1 Hero Point available now
Hopper used his.
I then gave Elsha an extra one.@Elsha gets a Hero Point
And I will now give one to Hopper.
So it would be, if I am not wrong, but it is your job to track these:
Hopper 1
Stabby 1
Granitt 1
Elsha 2
So Elsha can use a Hero Point to reroll the Recovery Check

GM Wayfinder |

Sorry, yes, you can spend all your Hero Points (so 1 for those who have 1, or the 2 for Elsha) but you do not wake up @1 HP.
P.467 of the CRB:
Spend all your Hero Points (minimum 1) to avoid death. You can do this when your dying condition would increase. You lose the dying condition entirely and stabilize with 0 Hit Points. You don’t gain the wounded condition or increase its value from losing the dying condition in this way, but if you already had that condition, you don’t lose it or decrease its value.

Oh, crap. The rules and rules and rules :D
BTW. I didn't know that with the quicksilver mutagen, for some reason I read it as a vulnerability of some sort. Damn! Reviewing posts if I used my quicksilver that day.

GM Wayfinder |

Starfinder has the back up to 1HP thingie.
If you used the Quicksilver before this fight it would have worn off, right?
The only difference would have been Granitt I think-- but that is done so we can move on.
Just tell me if anyone other than Elsha has it for the future, if needed.
Also, tell me who uses Hero Points to stabilize etc..

GM Wayfinder |

Hopper did drink quicksilver mutagen this day
This day, or for this fight?
You can recover Hit Points lost in this way once the mutagen is over with.So if it was this day you would have healed up after.

GM Wayfinder |

Ha ha! The ribbon is getting its revenge )))
Then you would have healed up with some Medicine check.

![]() |

Oh yes, it is. The ribbon strikes back.
BTW. Hopper is the last agent standing => we are doomed. I am out of bombs, so I have a sling and hopper fists, as my dagger flew first :)
Ladies and gentlemen, I am afraid our chances are slim here. Even if Hopper begins kiting the bear you will not wake up on your own :(
Let us go and see, maybe the ice will break underneath the hairy beast :D

GM Wayfinder |

Take things step by step-- already, not dying and maybe not waking up is better than dying right now!

The beastie has only done 124 HPs damage, to our 44 HPs ....
so we must be doing well! It's not even enough to kill us all twice over.

GM Wayfinder |

Don't really understand how Granitt was grabbed and held, but stayed 10ft awy from the bear.
The bear is large (meaning it is about 4 times the size of a human) and thus it has Reach.
So it can Grab you (sinking the claws deep enough that you need to fight them and break loose to get away) within its Reach. Just like a human sized skeleton grabbing you within its reach. The rules don't make much sense to me.
Any game's rules are just that: rules. A lot more about game balance and making it easy enough to understand etc..
And since you are in PFS and not playing at a home game where people change things to suit them, you have to go by RAW.normally a shield is strapped to the arm and therefore would have been usable when he got up
Not in Pathfinder (neither PF1 nor PF2).
Which means you can drop your Shield as a free action but not hold on to it when you release your hands. And you are still able to use your shield hand to do things-- which some probably feel is not logical either since they will argue you strap the shield but must also hold it tight.
you would pick it up two handed
If it were a two handed weapon, yes. Your Axe can be used in both manners. So you choose how you pick it up.
Since you said nothing and attacked w. 2 hands I imagined you would pick it up w. two hands.

Thanks, good to know Elsha has two. I'm going to head over to gameplay and decide whether to reroll or to just avoid the risk to get to 0.

Hopper draws it away while we get up slowly? Yeah, this is rough.

GM Wayfinder |

The battle is not going that well for you-- the dice roller tilted a lot in favor of the bear in the beginning (a lot of crits' vs. a lot of misses).
And Hopper is going for broke! Using the Hero Point to toss a bullet and not keep an auto-stabilize safeguard!

I will try to move away, but I am not sure if you get up slowly? Meaning are there any rules giving you that 1 HP? If I am not pouring potions into you?

![]() |

Well, no, I guess not. We're stuck here until treat wounds or whatever.

GM Wayfinder |

The CRB states you get back up to 1 HP when the GM determines how long you remain unconscious, from a minimum of 10 minutes to several hours.

GM Wayfinder |

Not good luck with the dice in general...
The bear was at 48 damage received out of 60 total.
So just a 2 or 3 hits away from dead.
I think you did not get one of the bombs to hit?
May the Dice Gods be with Hopper!

![]() |

I missed with both alchemist fire. And the poison didn't 'stick' which were the highest manners for Hopper to do damage.
And yeah, Dice Gods once again have shown what do they think of Hopper :D
Best Regards,
The Dead Hopper

RESULTS FOR YOUR CHRONICLE SHEETS:
Slaying the Beast[: The Beast is a deadly threat to competitors in the Balgirdtrek and earns the PCs the gratitude of the race officials. The officials reward the PCs with a scroll of snowball (Lost Omens World Guide 112) on their Chronicle sheet. If the PCs fail to defeat the beast, cross the scroll off of their Chronicle sheet.
So, no Scroll of Snowball.
Once the PCs cross the finish line, Progress Points accrued throughout the trials and overland travel are totaled. If the PCs have more points than any other team, they are the winners of the Balgirdtrek.
You have 23 points, vs. 20 for the Fangs, so-- you are the winners!
Primary Objective
If the PCs complete the Balgirdtrek without being caught cheating or interfering with the other teams progress they complete the primary objective of this scenario.
Done
Secondary Objectives
Winning the Balgirdtrek grants the PCs the Tarnbreaker Champions boon on their Chronicle sheet and earns each the other Fame & Reputation
Done, so you get the Boon & all 4 Fame & Rep.
I have already reported the Game so that is done (Outpost III closed on May 28 and they wanted people to report early to be free for PaizoCon).
And will get your Chronicle sheets out today or tomorrow.

GM Wayfinder |

Oh, and:
Treasure Bundles:
The PCs earn 2 Treasure Bundles plus 1 for every Progress Point they have earned by the time they complete this adventure (maximum 10 Treasure Bundles).
So, you get max' money.
Thus, you are the winners, get all the rewards, except for the scroll on your sheet-- and you feel the shame of having been bested by a measly bear (oh, well, yes, he was CR4!, there is that... with AC20, 60 HP, +12 to Hit, AoOs, Reach, 45 move, Grab,-- and he can toss people around, and he never did it but he can do 2 Action "Double Move + Strike, adding 10 feet to his move, thus 55+55=110 feet move + Strike).
But you all nearly all made it... and as the Goblin said: a near TPK became and HPK (Hopper PK)!

GM Wayfinder |

Well, folks... I am sorry the final battle did not go well for you, and some spent time chilling out on the ice.
Here are your --> chronicle sheets <-- (and a painting of how the Bear will be remembered!)
I hope it was still fun for you!
Thanks for joining...
Be safe all of you.
And enjoy whatever games you will be playing!
Tell me if all okay w. your sheets, and I will close the game down.

Thank you for a great game. Sorry I couldnt post more. I do look forward to being in a game in the future.. you said that these were mini scenarios, how many equil a level.

GM Wayfinder |

The first one (Gorget) was a Quest - for 1 XP.
This one (Trail) was a Scenario - for 4 XP.
You level up w. 12 XP.

If any are interested in playing in Trailblazers Boounty, see if I can GM a 2e game on pbp, I'll start one after PaizoCon. So beginning of June.
You get first options ...

![]() |

Thanks a bunch for a fun game Wayfinder. That last battle was likely one of the most intense I've experience in PbP. Pours out a daily infused alchemy for hopper. It was a lot of fun playing with all of your characters. We made a friendly, if odd, team :)
I've got my chronicle sheet. Thanks again all! I hope to find you in a game soon.

![]() |

Granitt, give me a shout when you wish to assemble the table. At the moment I will not be actively seeking PF2 games. I still have bard kicking that could take part in this scenario.
So at the moment, I am interested.

GM Wayfinder |

Thanks a lot guys!
I have played Trailblazer, otherwise I would have signed up.
Take care all!
Will close the game down.
