Vandor moves into the room avoiding the grates.
"So what would fulfill you contract then, demon?"
He asks as he sucks down a potion.
Minor healing potion: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Move, Move, Interact
I had thought after the nights rest everyone was already healed, Vandor.
“Chelliax conquering and pacifying this area once again.”
He then says a few arcane words and steps through a door that hadn’t been there a moment ago.
Smiling, he says “Time to play!” as he attacks Tuhdah. Obviously he is playing with you, the swing is well above Tuhdah’s head.

Ionic risks a few singed beard hairs by walking back onto the grates that seem to be the only open space near the devil, getting into flanking with Tuhdah and then takes a swing with his axe and then dagger. He tries for one last dagger hit after the bread and butter one-two.
“First the Axe!” Dwarven Waraxe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage, Slashing: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
“Next the dagger!” Clan dagger, 2nd strike: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 2 = 7

Damage, Piercing: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Twin strike for combining damage if they both hit. Flanking, if he's flankable, should give him flat-footed. Also possibly provoked if he has the AoO reaction
Sturdy yet Battered Young Male Varisian Exploration: Defend (shield up) ; Active conditions:
The Squire grips his shield with both hands, looking to go the way the Devil went.
"Hey, where's that door?"
Unable to find the door, the Squire charges back, moving through--
"Sorry!"
--or around his comrades, over some grates, and behind the Devil, before--
--striking it:
"You Demon!"
Shield Boss: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 vs Flat Footed if can be flanked
Bludgeoning: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Flikk watches the devil use some sort of crazy magic and his jaw drops a bit, certainly long enough to miss his chance to get in on the action. "Good trick. Father teach that one?"
He takes a step for a better view then knocks and fires off two more arrows.
Short Bow, Inspire: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 1 = 261d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Short Bow, Inspire: 1d20 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 0 + 1 = 111d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Sorry for the delay!
Yes, here there are weapon traits that will matter one of them being what your weapon is made of.
Vandor rapidly changes direction and swings at the devil. His first strike hits and does full damage, the second strike misses.
As Ionic is moving across the grates, Nashaxian howls and flames roar up from the grates to the ceiling!
Fire damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The fire must have really thrown him off, the sturdy dwarf doesn’t hit with any of his attacks.
Unfortunately the fires have not gone away when The Squire traverses that grate. He also gets singed by the flames. It is probably worth it to the warrior though, Nashaxian must not have anticipated his attack. The shield lands a perfect blow! Not all the damage goes through, but it certainly hurts the devil.
Then with an amazing shot, Flikk manages to fell the devil with his shot!
The devil’s form melts away and you see what you would guess is evil energy going from the destroyed body into the throne.
Wow! Two crits in the same round! Nice! Without both, the devil would still be up.
As the flames from the grate Ionic is standing on die down, you realize the battle is done.

Flikk huffs on his fingers and polishes his nails, trying to act a bit 'ho hum' about it all but not hiding his smile in the least "Heh, guess father not teach him to watch out for swords, shields and arrows." He watches the devil leftovers moving towards the throne...
"Hey didn't Digger say something about doing something when something happened like that?" He nudges the one holding the trapped spirit, pointing to the throne.

Tuhdah screams as the devil appears next to him, then cheers his allies as the battle rages all around him and the devil falls.
"I guess that's that. He forgot to read the fine print of contract when Pathfinders reclaim keep."

"Don't look at me, I don't speak old ghosty!" Flikk does put his bow away and reach down to pick up the glaive and give it a sniff.
Flikk wasn't one of the people that got a good read on Diggen or the devil and their possible lies.
Flikk finds that the glaive disappeared with Nashaxian.

Flikk grasps futility at the sword on a pole as it goes up in smoke. "More tricks. This guy had very clever father to teach so many tricks." He then makes his way towards the throne to look for the things they've come here to get: loot! And Pathfinder stuff too.
"Let's find the stuff and the things, in case he come back. If we not find them then maybe you really need Digger guy."
Back to perception +5 to hunt loot!

Ionic shakes his head for a moment. "Oh Diggen lied! Not sure 'bout what. But pants ought been smokin'. Eye flicks'n'way his voice fluctuated. Say we 'old off on placing finder on de drone for a tick. Dere anyding here with more details? Might be my past life, but I vote destroy de drone. No placing de finder on it!"
Ionic then moves up to the throne in question and starts looking it over seeing as it's where the devil went and what Diggen was so intent on, it might be the contract used to seal their infernal deal.
CN Male Goblin (Unbreakable) Rogue 2 | HP 32/32 | AC 19 | F +7 R +8 W +5 | Perc [E] +5 | Stealth [T] +6 | Speed: 25ft | Darkvision | Active Conditions: Frightened 2 | Exploration: Avoid Notice
Loohi shrugs his shoulders and puts the wayfinder away, following after Ionic and Flikk. He, however, keeps his distance from the throne, lest something bad happens.
There doesn’t appear to be any loot here.
Ionic, The Squire and Tuhdah all believe they understand enough to be able to perform the ritual. It certainly has something to do with bindings. They know based on what they saw when the devil was destroyed that Nashaxian is somehow connected to the throne here.
Those of you who caught Diggen in lies might want to compare notes about what he lied about.
Human-Ulfen Barbarian / 1 AC 17, Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +6 HP 22 /22; Resistances cold 1 Speed 25 feet
"Ba! I thought demons we tough? We stand strong and can defeat all evil that stand in our way. Ha ha ha.
Your master taught you well Squire. And you Flikk nice shooting."
Vandor pats both of them on the backs for their skill in defeating the demon.
Male Goblin Bard 1 [15/15 HP] [AC 17] [Fort +4 ; Ref +5 ; Will +6] [Perception +6] [Exploration: Search] [Focus 1] [Hero 1] [1st Level Spells 2/2]
"What do we do about ghosty? Ionic, you said he was lying. About what? We have paper that say keep already belong to Pathfinders, maybe we take ghosty in wayfinder back to lodge and let Captain decide?"

"Huh." Flikk looks over the throne to see if they could take it apart and toss it out the window.
"If he like throne so much, we throw it out too! He can be like one of those gnomes stuck on lawns." He grins mischievously as he takes out his tools.
Thievery: Disable Device!: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Flikk tries to find an elegant way to remove the throne.
Unfortunately it is a big piece of rock. With tools he might be able to bust it up, but it is probably too heavy to lift as a single intact object.

"Couldn't pin exact lie. Someding about the drone... Instead of tossin' de drone, why not break it? Clearly important."
Ionic hefts his axe and takes a swing at the throne, testing how easily it would be to break.
“First the Axe!” Dwarven Waraxe: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage, Slashing: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Ionic quickly realizes that his axe is not the correct tool for breaking the throne. He would want a pick, and even then it would be hard work breaking it apart.

"Ya know? I trust Diggen abouts sealing that devil-man. Stop me if you wants." Loohi pulls out his wayfinder and touches it to the throne, speaking the words that Diggen had made him practice.
Review of the information given earlier gave impression that the sealing part worked correctly, however, there was concern with repeating the same phrase of words on the wayfinder after the binding procedure.
Rereading the text, they want someone trained in Arcana or Religion to perform it. No roll needed, just the training.
Does one of those three want to do it?

Sorry, Flikk isn't on the VIP list, else he would!
"Ok then, make it happen before devil gas make new devil!" Flikk takes a few steps back and draws out his shortbow, just in case!

In order to move things forward...
Ionic helps Loohi with the ritual. Those trained in such things would recognize that he helps by taking all the important bits and has Loohi place the Wayfinder when signaled.
As the ritual draws to a close, Ionic is able to recognize that the devil is now sealed within the throne.
Now what?

So it was the sealing? Oh Ionic would have done that with no qualms it was the bit that Diggen lied about, the releasing of his soul that Ionic was worried about. whoops.
Ionic brings out a small folding table, a cloth to put over it, some candles, salt, a small variety of dried meats, and some chalk. He sets down the table and cloth before setting everything on it. He guides Loohi through the ritual that mostly involves drawing a pattern with the wayfinder and chalk and sprinkling some salt on the throne. After wards he sits down at the table. "Rest dis stuff is for havin' a snack afterwards. Dried squid? Or you prefer some dried beef?"
Yeah, it was the sealing of the devil. Now the group gets to decide if they are going to do the second part or not.

"Done?" Flikk looks around, everything seems ok... "Snack? Yes!" He quickly pulls up a spot on the table and stares at the offerings.
"So what now? We gotta find lost Pathfinder stuff still right?" He scratches his head, not taking his eyes off the meat, thinking of what they could have missed.
As far as the question at hand, Flikk can be convinced either way. He's not a big fan of having a ghost live in his new house, but he's not a fan of what he thinks the man did when he lived so. But on the plus side Flikk likes food!

So as I understand it we have:
Loohi, Ionic, Vandor: Don’t do the second instance of the ritual
Tuhdah: Do the ritual
Flikk: Abstain
The Squire: Hasn’t voted.
Three in favor of leaving Diggen in the Wayfinder. We will go with that.
After some discussion, the group agrees to leave Diggen in the Wayfinder.
Having nothing more to do, you collect the various documents you have discovered and leave Diggen’s Rest. On your way out, you find that the trap has reset itself while you were in the tower.
When you get back to the Grand Lodge and make your report, Zarta Dralneen takes an interest in it. She offers Loohi a shiney new Wayfinder to replace the one containing the ghost. She wants to study the trapped spirit. She promises to let you all know what she finds out.
Congratulations, you have completed the adventure.
You found all the treasure items, completed both your primary and secondary conditions and earned two boons.
I will get the chronicles to you soon.

Flikk nods, happy to see that demo-crasy has been completed and a final decision made "Well, Diggy guy get to leave book shelf now anyhow right? I'm sure nice Zarta take good care of him!" He chuckles and eyeballs Loohi's new wayfinder "Work same? Let's see!"
Thanks GM and PCs for a fun game. Sorry it kinda lost steam there at the end. I was truly concerned about the devil fight but we got bailed out by those crits to make it quick.

So with the adventure is now over, what would have happened if we did do the 2nd ritual? Was the ghost supposed to help fight the devil, or would we end up fighting both? And Thank you again for running I had a blast.

Zarta asks your group about the ritual that you were asked to perform. She asks a few questions about details of what happened with the devil when you did it, taking notes.
"Give me a day or so, I should be able to determine what it would have done, darlings!"
True to her word, a few days later she explains "Looks to me like it would have broken the part of the bond that held the ghost in the tower. Diggen Thrune's ghost would have been free to leave and cause mischief elsewhere."
"Never trust a Thrune. Good advice at all times." She smiles at this, as if there were something personal about it. "It delights me that not only is the ghost trapped, but I now have the key to unlock it if ever the time come." She pauses just a moment, then admits "That isn't likely to happen in my lifetime."

Welcome!
I always do my best to run a friendly game. I want people to have fun and everyone to be able to laugh when something crazy happens.
I really want everyone to be able to post at least once a day, preferably more. If you are going to be away from the game for a short period (such as attending a convention, on a short vacation, or needing to do some business travel), I would ask that you please post here so everyone involved knows.
Below I give some examples for how I like things. I don’t mind variations on what I give, but please do try to include the same sort of information. I request it because it helps me keep the game flowing.
Chronicle information
In order to be able to generate a PFS chronicle, I ask that each character please provide me the following information:
Player name:
Character name:
PFS and character #:
Faction:
Downtime activity with rolls (Usually Earn Income):
At the appropriate time, I will ask that you also post your slotted boons. That will happen after the game starts.
Character Profiles
Please have a profile header displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. As PF2 is a new system, we will need to experiment a little bit to figure out what works best. It should include your AC, Saving Throws, Perception, Exploration mode activity, conditions and expendable daily resources.
In the character profile, please include a complete stat block. You may put it under a spoiler if you wish, but if you do please put it under a single spoiler. I do not want it split across multiple spoilers.
If you have your character sheet on a different site, please have a link to it in your character’s headers. This allows me to pull it up from any post by the character, rather than having to go to the profile and from there to the external sheet.
You can look in the PbP GM Kit for pregenerated characters done in BB Code and use those as examples. Right now there are none for PF2, but you can look at the template for PF1 for inspiration. Hopefully they will get the standard PF2 pregenerated characters up as well. If you want to volunteer to help with this, send a note to Tyranius and he’ll coordinate.
Botting
Botting is when someone else makes a roll or otherwise does something on behalf of your character. Bot is short for robot.
Please include instructions in your profile and some general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. I highly recommend this include the dice expressions used for common actions. It is alright if you put this in a separate spoiler from the stat block, but once again please don't split it over multiple spoilers.
If there are resources you don’t mind being used up by botting, please say so. If there are resources you never want someone using, it is alright to say that as well.
If it makes you more comfortable, you could specify who you want to run your character when you can’t post.
If your character has any reactions, I ask that you have something in your Botting instructions about when you want this used. If it requires a roll, please have the dice expression there as well. The reason is that it can really slow down a PbP if you need to serialize actions between multiple people.
In my experience, creating a bot structure can help with your own posts as well. Assuming you put complete dice expressions in the botting directions, it makes it easy to cut and paste.
Criticals
In PF2 the determination of when something is a critical is based on exceeding the target difficulty by ten. Any strike that exceeds the enemy AC by ten is a critical.
Normally you will not instantly know the target value. I do not tend to share the ACs of enemies in battle. If you have something special that happens on a critical (such as a weapon with the Deadly trait), I would prefer that you also provide the critical effect as well. Please either give it as additional damage or total damage and be clear about which you do.
Example wrote:
Done as additional damage
Mister Oakleaf shoots at the groo.
Composite Shortbow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 Range 60’, Propulsive, Deadly
Cold Iron Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Additional on crit: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Done as total damage
Mister Oakleaf shoots at the groo.
Composite Shortbow: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 Range 60’, Propulsive, Deadly
Cold Iron Piercing: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Total on crit: 2 + 1d10 ⇒ 2 + (7) = 9
Note that for the second form, you would need to preview the result of the damage roll, double it and then insert that value into the total crit expression. Some like to see the total, others want to just be able to cut and paste the dice expression in without having to adjust it after seeing another result.
Provided you make it clear which you do, I am good with either solution. What I do not want is people rerolling the damage if it is a critical.
Initiative in PbP
I will roll all Initiative checks for PCs and NPCs, sort them, and organize them into blocks. I will bold the names of characters that should act. I will take the NPC actions in order and reserve the right to delay an NPC in order to make them act with a group of other NPCs.
When it is your turn to act, please post. Do not wait for someone else to post just because they had a higher Initiative. If you know what you want to do but want to wait for someone else’s action to go off first, just say that.
Here is an example of how you could post before another player but have it go off after another player:
Quote: Sir Cumference waits for the elven archer Mister Oakleaf to get done firing his arrow before charging the Wily Snark.
Attack with Pointy Stick: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
I (and most other PbP GMs) do grouped Initiative in order to keep the adventure moving. In PbP people will have different posting schedules and often live in different time zones. Waiting for posts in order could make a single round of combat take days to resolve.
Within the rules, it is as if everyone within the same Initiative block delayed until they could post.
Rules Questions
If there are rules questions, please post them in the discussion thread rather than interrupting the gameplay thread with rules debates.
In closing
PF2 is still relatively new. Although I have both played it and GMed it via PbP, I am still experimenting with what works best for me. I expect to adjust things as we go.
Come join me for a fun game!

Hello GM Bret, and thank you for running this, as well as having me!
I am fine w. posting at least 1/day (normally more) and giving a head's up if I am AFK.
Player name: Eric Collins
Character name: Lilic
PFS and character #: 101218-2003
Faction: Vigilant Seal
Downtime activity with rolls (Usually Earn Income): Lilic tries to see if he can teach the locals, wherever we will be, about some new farming techniques... while learning how they grow crop around this part of the world.
Farming Lore, Tr.: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
re. my Character Profile: I did not put my expendable daily resources under my header since I have never (or nearly never) used them. I normally list them on top of my character sheet, under the CURRENT STATUS spoiler (I take 2 scrolls).
Tell me if you want me to add it under my header.
re. complete stat block in my character profile, I am not sure if what I have is good for you.
I put spoilers for Skills, Feats, Gear, Boons etc., but can remove them for you if you (it's just that then it is one really long page).
Tell me if you want me to change my sheet.
re. Botting: I have premade dice rolls for all my combat actions. But since I have never been botted yet since playing PbP for some years, I've stopped writing lists of possible actions etc.. I hope I will not start needing them (and if I do, I'll add them).
A warm welcome to my fellow comrades in this adventure, hoping to have fun with you!
I don’t mind if you don’t list the resources gained from Pathfinder Training in the header. When I mentioned daily resources I was thinking anything like the Alchemist infused reagents that are used to make alchemical items with daily preparations and Quick Alchemy.
I will have to think about how to write that more clearly.
I really would prefer the profile not have so many spoilers for the stat block. It generally slows me down if I need to find something on the sheet. Your sheet is fairly well organized though. The reason I make the request is that in the past I’ve had to play “guess which spoiler the information I want is under” which isn’t fun for me.
Let me think on this.
What you currently have in the Combat section seems pretty good for Botting. I don’t see any reactions, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Battered Young Male Varisian Active conditions: Deny Advantage ; Exploration: Avoid Notice
Quote: I will have to think about how to write that more clearly. No, that was my bad reading. Not unclear writing. It says "daily", I guess I just only thought of expendable stuff, and since the only ones I have are the PFS school training things, I just misread, sorry.
Lilic has no reactions.
Quote: Let me think on this. No rush. Just tell me, whenever, if you want me to move things around for you.

Changing scenario to 1-11 Flames of Rebellion (1-4).
Hopefully we will get better response on a 1-4 scenario. Seems it is too early for a 3-6 in PbP.

Hello!
I really wanted to play this with Ionic here cause he's got a chronicle for the 1-00 Pact of the Open Road and they should both deal with the metaplot for the season! Thanks for opening a second table of it.
Player name:Sedoriku
Character name: Ionic Saltbeard
PFS and character #: 108507-2002
Faction: Horizon Hunters
Downtime activity with rolls (Usually Earn Income): Earn Income (Lore Sailing): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 This is assuming there isn't anything that he has to spend his downtime on resolving.
Looks like I might have to unspoiler everything on his character sheet. I've tried keeping it logical and organized but if it is hard to find things I can readily remove them as well. I never have enjoyed scrolling through a wall of text to find something like skills, but I can understand not wanting to have to open multiple spoilers to find what you need.
I need to update his character sheet with the last chronicle he earned, and a botting section with tactics but otherwise he should be ready to go.
I’ve decided to relent on that.
Both your and Lilac’s sheets are well organized enough that I do not feel I will have to hunt for the information.

Welcome Ionic!
(I first read your name as Iconic-- which I thought was cool: the Iconic Saltbeard!)
re. Lilic: I do not mind changing and using a lower level character.
I can wait and see who joins, but I don't want to overshadow people if I have a lvl 3 and all the others are lvl 1 for example.
So... just saying that depending on the characters and what people want, I can change to a lower lvl.

I partially chose the name because it was so close! But I am going with a semi-natical theme for him so Ionic fit better. (also not gonna claim he's iconic in anyway.)
As for Lilic, I'm okay with playing with a higher level character if they are okay with not tromping on everything in sight! It can be fun to roleplay with characters at different power levels than your own.

I should not over-play him and hog things (especially in PbP) so it should not be a real problem, but I am open to see what the others feel.

I should have no problems with posting at least once per day (weekdays). Weekends tend to be harder, but I think I can comply.
Loohi's profile is already set up with botting instructions. He doesn't really have daily usage resources. I do have spoiler's in the profile, however, they are primarily for rules and little needed information (like botting instructions and PFS details). I can make adjustments if they are deemed necessary.

@GM Bret: I would like to change characters for this game.
For two reasons:
• I think it would be better to have a lower character in the 1-4 scenario (w. the other lvl 1's and 2's)
• Since it seems I am not working for a few weeks, and all of France is in lockdown, I have discovered Roll20 and will most probably be playing Lilic in several 3-6 games, maybe getting him up to lvl 5
Thus, if okay w. you I would be happy to offer to play--

I would have:
Undead Lore, Tr.: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
(but I can reroll if not)
"I am the Squire.

Can I come with you?
You will tell me what to do?
Normally Master does.

I am fine with you changing characters, Eric aka Lilic aka The Squire.
Please do use the original earn income roll if you do swap characters.
I don’t think either character would be a problem. Please do update the Outpost signup spreadsheet with the one you will be actually playing so no one asks why reporting does not match signup.
Same goes for anyone else who might want to change.
I would like characters decided on and profiles complete before March 26th so that it doesn’t affect my preparation for the game.

So it looks like we have two players that haven’t come in yet. I will be contacting them.

@Vandor
Remember that you have the Feat Sudden Charge
Sudden Charge
With a quick sprint, you dash up to your foe and swing.
Stride twice.
If you end your movement within melee reach of at least one enemy, you can make a melee Strike against that enemy.
So you can:
use 1 action to Rage
then use 2 actions for a Sudden Charge
which has you Stride twice, ending beside an enemy, to you Strike it (in Rage!)

For future situations:
Sudden Charge should work fine everywhere.
It is not a "charge" in the sense of that "other" game (PF1)'s charge.
There is no "charge" in PF2.
Sudden charge is "simply" a specific 2 Action action (from the Feat) that lets you:
Stride + Stride + Strike.
So you should be able to Stride twice-- in greater difficult terrain (@ 15 feet cost per square I believe, or whatever it is in this case).
